Part 01 · Overview

Welcome

What it is, who it suits, its grades and the ten things to know first

2.8

GPA, above 44 of the 74 other calendar and scheduling apps we grade

CalenGoo is a calendar and task app from the German developer Gunia UG, sold as separate apps for iOS, Android and the desktop (Windows, macOS and Linux). It syncs directly with Google Calendar and Google Tasks, and with iCloud, CalDAV and Exchange accounts depending on the platform, and nearly every view, color and reminder can be configured. Each app is a one-time purchase. The same developer also runs a separate online Booking System for small businesses.

To get you started, here are 9 things to know about CalenGoo, taken from its own pages and our grades.

And with nearly every part of the display adjustable, there's a lot of settings between you and the calendar you wanted.

Best for tinkerers who want to pay once

CalenGoo is a calendar where nearly every view, color and reminder can be changed, syncing straight with Google Calendar and Google Tasks, sold once for $5.99 on Android or $6.99 on iPhone. SubjectGradeComment
Value for moneyA$5.99 once on Android and $6.99 once on iPhone. This category's middle subscription is $6 a month, so you're paying about one month of the usual rate and then nothing. The desktop app is the dear one at $49.99, and each version is bought separately.
Free plan and trialDNo free version. The Android trial is 72 hours, which is barely a weekend, and no iPhone trial is listed at all, so on an iPhone you pay first. The desktop download can be tried before buying.
FeaturesBDay, week, month, agenda and year views, Google Tasks on their due dates, event templates, floating events that roll forward until done, and up to five reminders an event by SMS, email or pop-up. The desktop app adds contacts and an email client. That's the whole job.
Ease of useB4.6 from about 300 App Store ratings, which is the bare minimum number we'll count. And with nearly every part of the display adjustable, there's a lot of settings between you and the calendar you wanted.
Platforms and integrationsBiPhone, iPad, Apple Watch, Android, Windows, Mac and Linux, syncing with Google, iCloud, Exchange and CalDAV servers such as Nextcloud. No web version and no API, and Linux support depends on your distribution.
Grade point averageGood, out of 4.02.8

An A is worth 4 points, a B 3, a C 2, a D 1 and an F nothing. The GPA is the average of the five.

Who CalenGoo is for

  • Fits if you use Google Calendar and want more views and settings than Google's own apps
  • Works for people who'd rather pay once per device than subscribe

Who it is not for

  • Skip it if you want to try it on an iPhone first, as no iPhone trial is listed
  • Pricey if you want it everywhere, since Android, iPhone and the $49.99 desktop app are bought one by one
  • Not for you if you want an app that works out of the box, with nearly every setting left to you
  • Watch out: there's no web version or API, and Linux support depends on your distribution
  • Watch out: online booking is a separate product, free to 20 booking hours a month and about $10 a month after

Good to know

Good for

  • Google Calendar users who want more views and settings than Google's own apps
  • People who want to pay once per platform and avoid a subscription
  • Anyone who wants calendar, tasks, contacts and email in one desktop window

Worth knowing

  • The iOS, Android and desktop versions are different apps and each is bought separately.
  • There is no free version. Android has a 72-hour trial and the desktop download can be tried first, but no iOS trial is listed.
  • The desktop app costs $49.99 on the Microsoft Store; the site gives no price for the in-app purchase in its own downloads, and says Linux support depends on the distribution.
  • Online booking is a separate product: the Booking System is free up to 20 booking hours a month and about $10 a month after that.

  • The depth: we grade its features B, which means it covers the whole job.
