Part 01 · Overview
Welcome
What it is, who it suits, its grades and the ten things to know first
2.6
GPA, above 25 of the 30 other website and landing page builders we grade
Carrd builds responsive one-page sites such as personal profiles, link pages and landing pages that collect email signups. Up to three sites are free on a Carrd-branded address, and Pro plans are priced per year by the number of sites. Custom domains, forms and embedded widgets start with Pro Standard, and Pro Plus adds password protection, redirects and site downloads.
To get you started, here are 9 things to know about Carrd, taken from its own pages and our grades.
One page from a template keeps things simple, but you're still building that page yourself, element by element.
- 1
Best for one-page sites for a few dollars a year
No blog, no shop, no second page, so a business that grows will outgrow it.
- 2
Paid plans start at $0.75 a month when paid by the year
As its pricing page puts it: $9 per year for up to 3 sites (Pro Lite).
- 3
There is a free plan
Up to 3 one-page sites per account on Carrd-branded addresses, with Carrd's core builder features, shown with "Made with Carrd" branding.
- 4
It runs on Web
Web.
- 5
One-page sites from templates
Start from dozens of templates or a blank page; every site adjusts to phones, tablets and desktops on its own. Pro plans add premium templates.
- 6
Signup and payment forms
Pro Standard forms send signups to about 20 email services, including Mailchimp, Kit, beehiiv and Klaviyo, and can take payments.
- 7
Custom domains
Pro Standard and Pro Plus publish to any domain you own with free SSL through Let's Encrypt. Pro Lite uses unbranded .crd.co addresses.
- 8
A 2.6 GPA, above 25 of 30
That is against the other website and landing page builders we grade, on value, the free plan, features, ease of use and platforms.
- 9
Keep it
To replace Carrd you would be making a builder that other people can use without writing code. That is not a weekend's work, with an AI app builder or without one.

The report card
Best for one-page sites for a few dollars a year
Carrd makes one-page sites, and it makes them cheaply: $19 a year gets you your own domain, forms and embeds across up to 10 sites. That's about $1.58 a month! The catch is the one page. No blog, no shop, no second page, so a business that grows will outgrow it.
| Subject | Grade | Comment |
|---|---|---|
| Value for money | A | Pro Standard is $19 a year for up to 10 sites with your own domain, forms and embeds, about $1.58 a month for one site. That's way under 60% of this category's cheapest quarter ($5.40). Pro Lite at $9 a year only removes the branding. |
| Free plan and trial | C | Up to 3 free sites on Carrd addresses with the core builder and a Made with Carrd credit, plus a 7-day Pro trial with no card needed. But there's no custom domain or forms without paying. |
| Features | C | It does one-page sites fully: templates that fit every screen, signup and payment forms feeding about 20 email services, embeds and analytics. But it's a smaller job, with no multi-page site, blog or online store. |
| Ease of use | C | No app store rating on record. One page from a template keeps things simple, but you're still building that page yourself, element by element. |
| Platforms and integrations | B | Web only, with forms feeding about 20 email services such as Mailchimp, Kit and Klaviyo, plus Stripe, PayPal, Gumroad and Google Analytics. No phone or desktop app. |
An A is worth 4 points, a B 3, a C 2, a D 1 and an F nothing. The GPA is the average of the five.
Who Carrd is for
- Great if you need a link-in-bio page, a profile or a simple portfolio
- Handy when you want a landing page that collects email signups for next to nothing
- Good for side projects that each need a page on their own domain
Who it is not for
- Too light for a business that needs several pages, a blog or a shop
- Tight if you need password protection or redirects, which wait for Pro Plus at $49 a year
- Not for you if you want a phone app for quick edits, as there isn't one
Good to know
Good for
- Personal profiles, link-in-bio pages and simple portfolios
- Single landing pages that collect email signups
- People who want a custom domain for under $20 a year
Worth knowing
- Carrd builds one-page sites only; there is no multi-page site, blog or online store.
- Custom domains, forms and embeds need Pro Standard; Pro Lite only removes branding and unlocks .crd.co addresses.
- Password protection, redirects and downloading a site's files need Pro Plus.
- The price of each Pro tier rises with the number of sites, from 3 or 10 sites up to 1,000.

Keep it, or make your own?
Whether this is something you could build for yourself with an AI app builder, and what you would give up.
Keep it

What you could make
- Templates and forms: an app builder makes these well.
What you could not
- A builder that other people can use without writing code.
- It plugs into other products, Mailchimp, Kit and beehiiv among them.
- Hooks into the device itself: widgets.
