Part 01 · Overview
Welcome
What it is, who it suits, its grades and the ten things to know first
2.4
GPA, above 13 of the 48 other AI meeting note takers we grade
Claap records and transcribes meetings on Zoom, Google Meet and Microsoft Teams, with or without a bot, and in-person meetings through its mobile app. It writes AI summaries, and on the Business plan fills CRM fields in Salesforce or HubSpot and scores reps against a coaching framework. Its MCP server lets Claude and other AI agents read the recorded conversations.
To get you started, here are 9 things to know about Claap, taken from its own pages and our grades.
Business itself starts with a sales demo.
- 1
Best for sales teams that want call notes in the CRM
Claap, now sold as Claap by lemlist, records sales calls with or without a bot, and its phone app records meetings in the room too.
- 2
Paid plans start at $32 a month for each person
As its pricing page puts it: $32 per license / month, billed yearly ($40 billed monthly).
- 3
There is a free plan
Basic license: 10 recordings per user, 300 minutes of recording and transcription in total, 3 uploads, basic AI summaries and 3 months of storage.
- 4
It runs on 4 platforms
Web, macOS, iOS and Android, with a browser extension too.
- 5
Recording with or without a bot
The Mac app and Chrome extension record Zoom, Meet and Teams calls in the background, or a visible bot can join; calendar sync starts recording on its own.
- 6
In-person meetings on mobile
The iOS and Android app records meetings in the room, keeps going with the phone locked or offline, and shares the recap from the phone.
- 7
AI summaries and transcripts
Basic AI summaries on every plan; Pro adds summary templates, custom prompts, chapters, subtitles and transcript search and editing, and Business adds translation.
- 8
A 2.4 GPA, above 13 of 48
That is against the other AI meeting note takers we grade, on value, the free plan, features, ease of use and platforms.
- 9
Keep it
To replace Claap you would be making a bot that joins your calls and turns the talk into notes. That is not a weekend's work, with an AI app builder or without one.

The report card
Best for sales teams that want call notes in the CRM
Claap, now sold as Claap by lemlist, records sales calls with or without a bot, and its phone app records meetings in the room too. The clever part, notes written into Salesforce or HubSpot and every rep scored, sits on Business at $60 a licence a month billed yearly. Even Pro, at $32, is the dear end of what meeting notetakers charge.
| Subject | Grade | Comment |
|---|---|---|
| Value for money | D | Pro is $32 a licence a month billed yearly, $40 monthly, well past where this category's dearest tenth starts. And the bits in its own tagline, CRM auto-complete and coaching, need Business at $60, booked through a sales demo. People who only watch get free Basic seats, which helps a bit. |
| Free plan and trial | C | Basic is free, but it's a taster: 10 recordings per user and 300 minutes in total, not per month, kept for 3 months. That's five hour-long calls and you're through it. |
| Features | B | It covers the job: Zoom, Meet and Teams recorded with or without a bot, meetings in the room on your phone even when it's locked or offline, summaries, transcripts in 99+ languages, and on Business CRM fields filled in and reps scored. There's an MCP server for Claude too. |
| Ease of use | C | No rating on record, and there's setting up to do: sync a calendar so recording starts by itself, pick bot or no bot, and on Business map your CRM fields and write the coaching framework. Business itself starts with a sales demo. |
| Platforms and integrations | A | Web, a Mac recorder, iPhone, Android and a Chrome extension, hooked into Zoom, Meet, Teams, Salesforce, HubSpot, Slack, Notion and Claude. Windows people get the extension or the bot rather than a desktop app, and the API is Enterprise only. |
An A is worth 4 points, a B 3, a C 2, a D 1 and an F nothing. The GPA is the average of the five.
Who Claap is for
- Great if you sell for a living and want call notes typed into Salesforce or HubSpot for you
- Handy when half your meetings happen in a room, since the phone app records those too
- Good for sales managers who want every call scored against their own framework
Who it is not for
- Pricey if you just want meeting notes, at $32 a licence a month on the yearly plan
- Skip it if you're never paying, as Basic stops at 300 minutes in total
- Not for you if you're on Windows and want a desktop recorder, since that's Mac only
Good to know
Good for
- Sales teams that want call notes written into Salesforce or HubSpot
- Sales leaders scoring and coaching reps from recorded calls
- Teams recording field visits and in-person meetings on a phone
Worth knowing
- Basic is capped at 10 recordings per user and 300 minutes in total, with recordings kept for 3 months.
- Pro allows 1,000 minutes a month per license; CRM sync, AI coaching and AI across all meetings need Business, which is booked through sales.
- The desktop recorder is listed for macOS only; on Windows, recording goes through the Chrome extension or the bot.
- SSO, SCIM provisioning and the Claap API are only on the custom-priced Enterprise plan.

Keep it, or make your own?
Whether this is something you could build for yourself with an AI app builder, and what you would give up.
Keep it
To replace Claap you would be making a bot that joins your calls and turns the talk into notes. That is not a weekend's work, with an AI app builder or without one.
That makes this kind of software worth paying for, not this one in particular: 26 of the 48 other AI meeting note takers grade higher. It costs $384 a year.
What you could not
- A bot that joins your calls and turns the talk into notes.
- A video editor.
- Speech turned into text you can trust.
- Recording the screen with its sound, and somewhere to keep the video.
- Apps for macOS, iOS and Android that stay in step with each other.
- It is priced for each person, which means accounts and billing for a team.
- It plugs into other products, Zoom, Google Meet and Microsoft Teams among them.
- AI features, unless you pay a model provider for each request yourself.
- People on the other end: coaches. No app builder makes those.
- The depth: we grade its features B, which means it covers the whole job.
What this rests on. Claap’s listing: what it does, where it runs, what it plugs into and what it costs. It is a judgement about the kind of software this is. We have not built a replacement for it, and making your own means looking after it too. How we decide, and every tool’s verdict.
