Part 01 · Overview

Welcome

What it is, who it suits, its grades and the ten things to know first

2.4

GPA, above 18 of the 74 other calendar and scheduling apps we grade

Daybridge is a calendar app from Daybridge Software Limited in London that puts work and personal calendars in one view. It syncs with Google, iCloud, Outlook and Fastmail, and can also serve as a calendar provider of its own, with shared calendars for trips and groups. Items are split into events, tasks, blocks and markers and grouped into Areas such as Work or Family. The iPhone and Android apps are free, while the web and Mac apps need a subscription.

To get you started, here are 9 things to know about Daybridge, taken from its own pages and our grades.

There's no Windows or Linux app and no API, and Quick Add needs a connection.

The report card

Best for work and personal plans in one view

Daybridge pulls Google, iCloud, Outlook and Fastmail calendars into one view and sorts everything into Areas like Work or Family. The free phone apps can't connect any of those outside calendars, and there's no free web or Mac access: both need $5.83 a month billed annually, or $6.99 monthly. There's no Windows or Linux app and no API, and Quick Add needs a connection.

Value for moneyC$5.83 a month billed annually, or $6.99 monthly, which lands in the middle of this category rather than under it. One subscription does cover web, Mac, iPhone and Android, and it's the only way to sync your existing calendars.
Free plan and trialCFree on iPhone and Android with events, tasks, blocks, markers and Areas, and no card wanted. But free can't connect Google, iCloud, Outlook or Fastmail, which is the first thing most people would try, and there's no web or Mac access.
FeaturesBTwo-way sync with four providers, Areas that group events across accounts, four kinds of item drawn differently, Tabs for saved views, Quick Add in seven languages, a command palette, side-by-side time zones and offline editing. The whole job, in other words.
Ease of useCNo rating on record, and this is a calendar you set up: connect accounts, sort events into Areas, learn what a block is against a marker. Quick Add also needs an internet connection even though the calendar doesn't.
Platforms and integrationsBWeb, Mac, iPhone and Android, syncing with Google Calendar, iCloud, Outlook and Fastmail. No Windows or Linux app and no API, and web and Mac are subscribers only.
Grade point averageFair, out of 4.02.4

An A is worth 4 points, a B 3, a C 2, a D 1 and an F nothing. The GPA is the average of the five.

Who Daybridge is for

  • Fits if your work and personal events are spread over several calendar accounts
  • Works for people who travel, plan across time zones and add events from the keyboard

Who it is not for

  • Tight if you're staying free, because free can't connect Google, iCloud, Outlook or Fastmail calendars
  • Skip it if you want a free calendar on your computer, as the web and Mac apps need the subscription
  • Not for you if you use Windows or Linux, since no app is listed for either
  • Watch out: Tabs, Quick Add and the command palette are paid, and Quick Add needs an internet connection
  • Watch out: there's no API, and the trial is 7 days on monthly billing, 14 on annual

Good to know

Good for

  • People who keep work and personal events in several calendar accounts
  • Frequent travelers who plan across time zones
  • Keyboard users who want to add and find events without the mouse

Worth knowing

  • The free plan runs only on iPhone and Android and cannot connect Google, iCloud, Outlook or Fastmail calendars.
  • The web and Mac apps, Tabs, Quick Add and the command palette need the paid subscription.
  • No Windows or Linux app is listed; on the desktop Daybridge runs in the browser or as a Mac app.
  • Quick Add needs an internet connection, although the rest of the calendar works offline.

Keep it, or make your own?

Whether this is something you could build for yourself with an AI app builder, and what you would give up.

Keep it

The plain part of Daybridge you could make: calendar, tasks, time blocking and natural-language input. What surrounds it you could not. The 3 things listed below take a company, not a weekend.

That makes this kind of software worth paying for, not this one in particular: 45 of the 74 other calendar and scheduling apps grade higher. It costs $69.96 a year.

What you could make

  • Calendar, tasks, time blocking and natural-language input: an app builder makes these well.

What you could not

  • Apps for macOS, iOS and Android that stay in step with each other.
  • Sharing with other people, which means accounts and invitations.
  • The depth: we grade its features B, which means it covers the whole job.

What this rests on. Daybridge’s listing: what it does, where it runs, what it plugs into and what it costs. It is a judgement about the kind of software this is. We have not built a replacement for it, and making your own means looking after it too. How we decide, and every tool’s verdict.
