Who each one suits

Daybridge

  • People who keep work and personal events in several calendar accounts
  • Frequent travelers who plan across time zones
  • Keyboard users who want to add and find events without the mouse

Google Calendar

  • Anyone who already has a Google Account and wants a free calendar
  • Organizations standardizing on Google Workspace for mail, files and meetings
  • Taking bookings through a single free appointment page

Worth knowing

Daybridge

  • The free plan runs only on iPhone and Android and cannot connect Google, iCloud, Outlook or Fastmail calendars.
  • The web and Mac apps, Tabs, Quick Add and the command palette need the paid subscription.
  • No Windows or Linux app is listed; on the desktop Daybridge runs in the browser or as a Mac app.
  • Quick Add needs an internet connection, although the rest of the calendar works offline.

Google Calendar

  • The paid version is only sold as part of Google Workspace, which also includes Gmail, Drive and Meet.
  • Personal accounts and Business Starter get one booking page; extra schedules, payments and reminders need Business Standard or higher, or an eligible Google One plan.
  • Time Insights and working hours and location are limited to work or school accounts, and Time Insights can only be viewed on a computer.
  • No desktop app is listed; Google offers it on the web and as Android and iOS apps.

Key features

Daybridge

Connects existing calendars
Subscribers connect Google, iCloud, Outlook and Fastmail accounts. Their events appear in Daybridge, and changes made there sync back.
Areas
Every event belongs to an Area such as Work, Fitness or Family, so events from different accounts can be grouped and color-coded together.
Events, tasks, blocks and markers
Four kinds of item are drawn differently: events to attend, tasks placed at a time, blocks that reserve time, and markers that add context without taking time.
Tabs
Saved views for work, personal plans or a trip, each with its own Areas, calendars, layout and time zone. Tabs are part of the paid plan.
Quick Add and command palette
Quick Add turns a typed phrase into an event in seven languages, and a keyboard command palette creates events, jumps to dates, searches and switches tabs.
Time zones and offline use
Several time zones can sit side by side, and the app switches to local time when you travel. The calendar is stored on the device and can be edited offline.

Google Calendar

Appointment booking pages
Publish a page where others pick a time on your calendar. Eligible paid plans allow several schedules, Stripe payments, email verification and up to 20 co-hosts.
Shared and layered calendars
Create calendars shared with a team or a whole organization, and view several calendars together, color-coded by category.
Scheduling from Gmail with Gemini
On Workspace plans, Gemini in Gmail can suggest meeting times and add events detected in an email with one click.
Google Meet and attachments
Events can carry a Google Meet video link and attached files, so the call and its documents open from the invitation.
Time Insights and working location
Work and school accounts can see how much time goes to meetings and who they meet most, and can share working hours and location.
Tasks on the calendar
Items from Google Tasks appear on the calendar next to events.
