Setmore review
Very good · out of 4.0 · graded Oct 9, 2026
Best for small teams that want free online booking
Run a small salon, clinic or studio and want online booking without a bill? Setmore's free plan covers four staff and unlimited appointments, with a booking page and card payments thrown in. Pro is only $5 a person a month on yearly billing. Just check what free leaves out first: text reminders, two-way calendar sync and recurring appointments are all on Pro.
Who Setmore is for
- Great if you run a salon, clinic or studio with up to four staff and want booking for free
- Handy when clients find you on Instagram, Facebook or Google, as each can carry a Book Now button
- Good for taking payment up front, with Square, Stripe or PayPal on both plans
- A treat if you like a proper desktop app, since there's one for Mac and one for Windows
Who Setmore is not for
- Skip it if your life is in Google Calendar and you won't pay, as two-way sync is Pro only
- Not for you if you need a waitlist or intake forms, which we couldn't find on its features page
- Pricey if you pay monthly for a big team, at $12 for every staff calendar
- Too light for photographers and planners who want contracts and invoices in the same app
Why Setmore gets a 3.4
Five grades, each with its reason. The GPA is their average: an A is 4 points, an F is none.
- AValue for moneyPro is $5 a person a month on yearly billing, with two-way calendar sync and 500 text credits a month for each person. Calendly asks $10 a seat. Pay monthly and it's $12, though, which is more than double.
- AFree plan and trialFour staff, unlimited appointments, a booking page, card payments, group classes and an email reminder, with no time limit. A four-person shop could stay on it for years. No text reminders or two-way sync, mind.
- BFeaturesA booking page, payments, classes, team calendars, reminders and Book Now buttons for Instagram, Facebook and Google. Good at the basics. We couldn't find a waitlist or intake forms on its features page, and reviewers ask for them.
- BEase of use4.7 from about 9,200 App Store ratings, and "easy" is the word reviewers keep using. Setmore says help runs around the clock by chat, email and phone. But one reviewer says the app shows less than the website, and another that a 2024 update made it worse.
- BPlatforms and integrationsWeb, Mac, Windows, iPhone and Android, which is more than most booking apps manage. More than 40 integrations, plus Zapier. But the API and two-way sync with Google or Office 365 are Pro only.
The good
So what do you get for nothing? Quite a lot, honestly.
The free plan covers up to 4 staff and unlimited appointments. Each person gets their own login, working hours and calendar. And it isn't a trial, so nobody's counting down the days.
Clients book themselves on your Booking Page at any hour. Then Setmore emails them a confirmation and a reminder, so you're not texting "still ok for 2 tomorrow?" the night before.
You can take the money as well. Hook up Square, Stripe or PayPal and clients pay when they book, or tap their card in the shop. That's on both plans.
It also goes where your customers already are. Put a Book Now button on Instagram, Facebook and your website, show up in Reserve with Google, or stick a QR code in the window.
And there are proper apps for iPhone, Android, Mac and Windows. Got a question at midnight? Setmore says its chat, email and phone support runs around the clock, free plan included.
The stuff that'll bug you
The free plan leaves out the things that stop no-shows. Text reminders, deposits and a second reminder are all on Pro.
Calendar sync is the one to think about. Two-way sync with Google or Office 365 is Pro only. There is a one-way feed that puts your bookings into Google, Apple or Outlook, and its help page doesn't ask for Pro. But one-way means your dentist appointment in Google won't block that slot on your Booking Page.
Recurring appointments are Pro too. So are video ones. If a regular comes in every six weeks, you're booking each visit by hand on Free.
Pro is charged per user, and a "user" is any staff calendar. So the part-timer who never logs in still counts.
There's no free trial of Pro, either. You pay, and you've got 30 days to ask for a refund.
And some things just aren't there. One reviewer's wish list from late 2025 has a waitlist, intake forms, cards kept on file and booking several services in one go. We couldn't find any of them on Setmore's features or pricing pages.
Money
Start on Free. It doesn't expire, and four staff with unlimited appointments is plenty to run a small shop on.
Pro is $5 a user a month if you pay for the year. Pay month to month and it's $12, more than double. So if you're going Pro, we'd go yearly.
What does Pro add? Two-way calendar sync, text reminders with 500 credits per person each month, recurring and video appointments, deposits, the API, and a Booking Page without Setmore's name on it. It lifts the 4-user cap as well.
Do the sum per head. A salon with six chairs on yearly Pro is $30 a month. Square Appointments charges $49 a location for its Plus plan, however many staff.
There's no trial, but you can ask for your money back within 30 days.
One extra to know about: Live Receptionist, where real people answer your calls, is another $99 a month and US only.
What actual users say
Setmore has 4.7 on the App Store from about 9,200 ratings. About 83% are five stars.
The happy reviews say much the same thing: it's easy, and it's free. A hairdresser has run a small business on the free plan for nearly two years. Another reviewer has been on it since 2021 and raves about the support team.
The less happy ones are usually asking for more. A photographer loves it but wants quotes, contracts and questionnaires. An athletic trainer wants six people in one slot without setting up a class every 15 minutes.
One long-time user gave it one star in 2024. They say an update took away the client history and activity views they relied on. Appointment history is on Setmore's feature list today, so that may be sorted.
And one asked for a few days of Pro to try before paying. Fair enough! There still isn't a trial.
