Part 01 · Overview
Welcome
What it is, who it suits, its grades and the ten things to know first
1.8
GPA, above 0 of the 48 other CRM tools we grade
Daylite is a CRM and project management app from Marketcircle built only for Mac, iPhone and iPad. It links contacts, sales opportunities, projects, email, calendar, tasks and notes so each client's full history sits in one place, and it keeps working offline and syncs later. Plans start with a single-user tier and then scale per user, with limits on contacts, active opportunities and active projects at each level.
To get you started, here are 9 things to know about Daylite, taken from its own pages and our grades.
- 1
Best for small businesses that are all-in on Apple
There's no web, Windows or Android version.
- 2
Paid plans start at $15 a month
As its pricing page puts it: $15 / month for 1 user, billed annually ($20 billed monthly).
- 3
You can try it first
14-day free trial with access to all of Daylite, no credit card required
- 4
It runs on 2 platforms
macOS and iOS.
- 5
Linked contact history
People and companies each have an Activity View: one timeline of every linked email, meeting, task, note, opportunity and project for that relationship.
- 6
Opportunities Board
A Kanban-style board moves sales opportunities through customizable stages, with estimates built from saved products and services. Leap has 1 pipeline, Growth 3 and Scale 10.
- 7
Projects
Client work is tracked as projects with their own board, pipelines, linked tasks and appointments. Active projects are capped at 10 on Leap and 100 on Growth.
- 8
A 1.8 GPA, above 0 of 48
That is against the other CRM tools we grade, on value, the free plan, features, ease of use and platforms.
- 9
Keep it
To replace Daylite you would be making an email client: sending, receiving, threading and searching years of mail. That is not a weekend's work, with an AI app builder or without one.

The report card
Best for small businesses that are all-in on Apple
Daylite is a CRM and project manager for Mac, iPhone and iPad only, with contacts, deals, projects, email and calendar linked and an offline mode. There's no web, Windows or Android version. Leap at $15 stops at one user, 500 contacts and 10 active deals, Growth at $30 a user stops at 100, and unlimited means Scale at $45 a user.
| Subject | Grade | Comment |
|---|---|---|
| Value for money | D | Leap is $15 a month on yearly billing, but that's one user, 500 contacts and 10 active opportunities. A team starts on Growth at $30 a user, above the $24 middle for CRMs, and still stops at 100 active opportunities. Unlimited means Scale at $45, nearly twice the middle. |
| Free plan and trial | C | No free plan. The 14-day trial opens up all of Daylite and doesn't ask for a card, which is the ordinary arrangement here. After that the cheapest way in is $15 a month, paid for the year. |
| Features | C | Linked contact history, a Kanban board for opportunities with estimates, projects, email read inside the app, shared calendars and tasks, offline sync. It's a CRM and a project tool in one, and the listing shows the catch: pipelines are rationed 1, 3 and 10, and so are active deals and projects. |
| Ease of use | C | 4.44 from about 440 App Store ratings, just under our bar for a B. Growth and Scale include onboarding, which you may want: Leap gets email-only support with replies that can take 2 business days. |
| Platforms and integrations | C | Mac, iPhone and iPad, and nothing else. Marketcircle lists no web, Windows or Android version. It reads mail from iCloud, Gmail, Office 365 or any IMAP account, adds video links from Zoom, Teams and Google Meet, and has an API. |
An A is worth 4 points, a B 3, a C 2, a D 1 and an F nothing. The GPA is the average of the five.
Who Daylite is for
- Fits if your whole business runs on Macs, iPhones and iPads
- Works for people who work on trains and planes, as it keeps going offline and syncs later
Who it is not for
- Skip it if anyone on the team uses Windows, Android or a browser, because there's no version for them
- Tight if you're solo on Leap: 500 contacts, 10 active deals, 10 active projects and 1 GB of files
- Pricey if you need over 100 active deals or more than 20 users, which means Scale at $45 a user
- Not for you if you want a free plan, as the 14-day trial leads to a $15 a month minimum
- Watch out: Leap gets email-only support, with replies that can take 2 business days
Good to know
Good for
- Small service businesses that work entirely on Apple devices
- Teams that want CRM, projects, email and calendar in one native app
- People who need to keep working offline and sync later
Worth knowing
- It runs only on Mac, iPhone and iPad; the vendor lists no web, Windows or Android version.
- Leap is limited to 1 user, 500 contacts, 10 active opportunities and 10 active projects.
- Growth stops at 20 users and 100 active opportunities; unlimited opportunities and projects need Scale at $45 per user / month.
- Email support response time depends on the plan, from 2 business days on Leap to the same day on Scale.

Keep it, or make your own?
Whether this is something you could build for yourself with an AI app builder, and what you would give up.
Keep it
To replace Daylite you would be making an email client: sending, receiving, threading and searching years of mail. That is not a weekend's work, with an AI app builder or without one.
That makes this kind of software worth paying for, not this one in particular: 46 of the 48 other CRM tools grade higher. It costs $180 a year.
What you could make
- Sales pipeline, kanban boards, tasks and calendar: an app builder makes these well.
What you could not
- An email client: sending, receiving, threading and searching years of mail.
- Apps for macOS and iOS that stay in step with each other.
- It plugs into other products, Gmail, iCloud Mail and Office 365 among them, and has an API.
- Sharing with other people, which means accounts and invitations.
What this rests on. Daylite’s listing: what it does, where it runs, what it plugs into and what it costs. It is a judgement about the kind of software this is. We have not built a replacement for it, and making your own means looking after it too. How we decide, and every tool’s verdict.
