Part 01 · Overview
Welcome
What it is, who it suits, its grades and the ten things to know first
2.4
GPA, above 2 of the 12 other shift scheduling apps we grade
Findmyshift is a web-based employee scheduler with a free time clock, timesheets, payroll calculation and time-off tracking. Managers drag shifts onto a rota and can schedule equipment and vehicles beside people, and staff see shifts and get reminders in the iOS and Android apps. It charges a flat monthly price per team rather than per employee, and a team of up to 5 is free.
To get you started, here are 9 things to know about Findmyshift, taken from its own pages and our grades.
There's no shift swapping on record, though, and Starter allows just one manager.
- 1
Best for flat-priced rotas run by one manager
It's a simple drag-and-drop rota with a free time clock and payroll sums, and it can book vans and equipment too.
- 2
Paid plans start at $24 a month
As its pricing page puts it: $24 per team / month for up to 20 employees, billed yearly (Starter).
- 3
There is a free plan
Free forever for one team of up to 5 employees and 1 manager, with 1 week of forward planning and history. The web-based time clock is free on every plan.
- 4
It runs on 3 platforms
Web, iOS and Android.
- 5
Drag-and-drop rota
Shifts are placed by point and click, drag and drop, or cut, copy and paste, with templates for repeating patterns. Machines, vehicles and other facilities can be scheduled too.
- 6
Free time clock station
A web-based time clock records when staff are on site, with location reporting and geofencing to check where people clock in.
- 7
Timesheets and payroll
Staff submit the hours they actually worked for approval, and payroll is worked out from hourly rates, rate exceptions, day rates and salaries, then exported.
- 8
A 2.4 GPA, above 2 of 12
That is against the other shift scheduling apps we grade, on value, the free plan, features, ease of use and platforms.
- 9

The report card
Best for flat-priced rotas run by one manager
Findmyshift charges per team, not per person, so up to 20 staff cost $24 a month on Starter. It's a simple drag-and-drop rota with a free time clock and payroll sums, and it can book vans and equipment too. There's no shift swapping on record, though, and Starter allows just one manager.
| Subject | Grade | Comment |
|---|---|---|
| Value for money | B | Starter is $24 a team a month billed yearly ($286 a year) for up to 20 employees, so 15 staff pay $24. For a team that size that's in the cheapest quarter of this category. The catch is one manager per team. |
| Free plan and trial | C | Free forever for one team of up to 5 employees and 1 manager, with 1 week of forward planning, which most shift teams will outgrow. A 3-month trial of everything needs no card. |
| Features | C | Drag-and-drop rotas with templates, a free time clock, timesheets, pay worked out from rates, cost totals as you build, reminders and time off. Equipment and vehicles schedule too. But nothing on record lets staff swap or pick up shifts. |
| Ease of use | C | We have no App Store rating on record for it. The rota itself is point and click, but staff, rates and templates need setting up first. |
| Platforms and integrations | B | Web, iPhone and Android, with Xero, Slack, Square, Lightspeed, BambooHR, Google Workspace and monday.com. No desktop app. |
An A is worth 4 points, a B 3, a C 2, a D 1 and an F nothing. The GPA is the average of the five.
Who Findmyshift is for
- Great if one manager schedules a big team and you dislike per-head pricing
- Handy when vans, machines or rooms need booking alongside people
- Good for teams of 5 or fewer who want a free online rota
Who it is not for
- Tight if several managers share scheduling, as Starter allows only one
- Skip it if staff expect to swap or pick up shifts themselves in the app
- Not for you if each manager runs their own staff, as every team is priced separately
Good to know
Good for
- Teams of up to 5 that want a free online rota
- Large teams under one scheduling manager, since the price is per team
- Businesses that also need to book equipment or vehicles alongside staff
Worth knowing
- The price is per team: managers who schedule their own staff separately need separate teams, each on its own plan.
- Starter allows only one manager per team; sharing scheduling between managers needs Business or higher.
- Email, push and Slack notifications are free, but text messages are bought as credits, one per 160 characters.
- Teams of more than 300 employees need to contact Findmyshift for a price.

Keep it, or make your own?
Whether this is something you could build for yourself with an AI app builder, and what you would give up.
Keep it
The plain part of Findmyshift you could make: time off and reports. What surrounds it you could not. The 4 things listed below take a company, not a weekend.
That makes this kind of software worth paying for, not this one in particular: 8 of the 12 other shift scheduling apps grade higher. It costs $288 a year.
What you could make
- Time off and reports: an app builder makes these well.
What you could not
- A rota the whole staff sees on their phones, with swaps and alerts.
- Clocking in from a phone, checked against where and when.
- A real app for iOS and Android. Something home-made would be a web page.
- It plugs into other products, Xero, Slack and Lightspeed among them, and has an API.
What this rests on. Findmyshift’s listing: what it does, where it runs, what it plugs into and what it costs. It is a judgement about the kind of software this is. We have not built a replacement for it, and making your own means looking after it too. How we decide, and every tool’s verdict.
