Part 01 · Overview

Welcome

What it is, who it suits, its grades and the ten things to know first

3.2

GPA, above 73 of the 79 other project management tools we grade

Freedcamp is a project management suite built from apps that sit side by side in each project. Tasks, discussions, a calendar, files, milestones, time tracking and a shared password manager are free for unlimited users and projects. Paid plans add more task features and cloud-drive links, and from the Business plan a Gantt view, issue tracker, wiki, CRM and invoicing.

To get you started, here are 9 things to know about Freedcamp, taken from its own pages and our grades.

  1. 1

Best for a free plan with no cap on users

Freedcamp is a project management suite whose free plan covers tasks, discussions, a calendar, files, milestones, time tracking and a password manager for unlimited users and projects.

The Time app records how long tasks and issues take, and is one of the core apps on every plan. Multi-level grouping of time records starts on Pro.

The report card

Best for a free plan with no cap on users

Freedcamp is a project management suite whose free plan covers tasks, discussions, a calendar, files, milestones, time tracking and a password manager for unlimited users and projects. Paid plans start at $1.49 a user a month billed annually. But Gantt charts, custom fields, the wiki, the issue tracker and reports all wait on Business at $7.49, free uploads stop at 10 MB, and single sign-on is Enterprise only at $16.99.

ToolGPA report cardFreedcampGraded Oct 10, 2026
SubjectGradeComment
Value for moneyAPro is $1.49 a user a month billed annually, $2.49 monthly. The cheapest quarter of this category starts at $5.10, so that's well under a third of it. Business, with the Gantt chart, wiki, CRM and invoicing, is $7.49, still under the category's middle price.
Free plan and trialBUnlimited users, projects, tasks and storage under a fair usage policy, with seven core apps including time tracking and passwords. But every upload stops at 10 MB, and there are no recurring tasks, no email-in, no cloud-drive links and no two-factor sign-in.
FeaturesBKanban, table and Gantt views, time tracking, milestones, a calendar, an issue tracker, a wiki, a CRM and invoicing. That covers the category's job. What stops it going higher: the Gantt chart, custom fields, custom statuses and reports all wait on Business.
Ease of useCNo store rating on record either way. It's a web app where you build the thing yourself, a project at a time, switching on the apps you want, so expect an afternoon of setting up before it's useful.
Platforms and integrationsAWeb, Mac, Windows, iPhone and Android. API and Zapier access are on the free plan, and Pro links it to Google Drive, Dropbox, OneDrive and Google Calendar.
Grade point averageVery good, out of 4.03.2

An A is worth 4 points, a B 3, a C 2, a D 1 and an F nothing. The GPA is the average of the five.

Who Freedcamp is for

  • Fits if you want a free plan with no limit on users or projects and can live with 10 MB uploads
  • Works for small businesses that want tasks, time tracking, a CRM and invoicing in one place on Business at $7.49

Who it is not for

  • Skip it if you want Gantt charts, custom fields, the wiki, the issue tracker or reports, as all of them need Business at $7.49 a user
  • Tight if you're staying free: each upload stops at 10 MB, and there are no recurring tasks, email-in, cloud-drive links or two-factor sign-in
  • Pricey if you need single sign-on or white labeling, which are Enterprise only at $16.99 a user a month
  • Watch out: a private cloud instance costs a fixed extra yearly fee on top of the plan
  • Watch out: the unlimited storage on every plan is subject to a fair usage policy

Keep it, or make your own?

Whether this is something you could build for yourself with an AI app builder, and what you would give up.

Keep it

The plain part of Freedcamp you could make: tasks, kanban boards, Gantt & timelines, time tracking, issue tracking and wiki. What surrounds it you could not. The 4 things listed below take a company, not a weekend.

It is one of the better ones too: its GPA of 3.2 is higher than 73 of the 79 other project management tools we grade. It costs $17.88 a year.

What you could make

  • Tasks, kanban boards, Gantt & timelines, time tracking, issue tracking and wiki: an app builder makes these well.

What you could not

  • Apps for macOS, Windows, iOS and Android that stay in step with each other.
  • It is priced for each person, which means accounts and billing for a team.
  • It plugs into other products, Google Drive, Dropbox and OneDrive among them, and has an API.
  • The depth: we grade its features B, which means it covers the whole job.

What this rests on. Freedcamp’s listing: what it does, where it runs, what it plugs into and what it costs. It is a judgement about the kind of software this is. We have not built a replacement for it, and making your own means looking after it too. How we decide, and every tool’s verdict.
