Part 01 · Overview

Welcome

What it is, who it suits, its grades and the ten things to know first

2.4

GPA, above 11 of the 20 other cold outreach tools we grade

GMass is a Chrome extension that adds mass email to Gmail: campaigns are written in Gmail's compose window, personalized from a list or Google Sheet, and sent from your own account with automatic follow-ups that stop on a reply. Larger sends can rotate across several inboxes or go out through an SMTP server, and a web dashboard holds campaign reports and settings.

To get you started, here are 9 things to know about GMass, taken from its own pages and our grades.

It's Gmail and Chrome only, though, and follow-ups need Premium.
From our report card of GMass

  5. 5

Campaigns from the Gmail compose window

Write a campaign as an ordinary Gmail message, address it to a list, label or Google Sheet, and send it with the GMass button from your own account.

  6. 6

    Automatic follow-ups

Unlimited follow-up stages that stop when a contact replies, clicks or opens, sent in the same thread or as new ones. Needs Premium or above.

  7. 7

    Google Sheets campaigns

Merge fields come from a Google Sheet, GMass picks up edits made before a scheduled send, and new rows can be emailed automatically.

  8. 8

    A 2.4 GPA, above 11 of 20

That is against the other cold outreach tools we grade, on value, the free plan, features, ease of use and platforms.

  9. 9

To replace GMass you would be making newsletters sent to thousands of people that still reach the inbox. That is not a weekend's work, with an AI app builder or without one.

The report card

Best for cold email without leaving Gmail

GMass turns Gmail into a cold email tool: write the campaign in the normal compose window, point it at a Google Sheet and it sends from your own account, following up until people reply. It's about the easiest start in this category. It's Gmail and Chrome only, though, and follow-ups need Premium.

ToolGPA report cardGMassGraded Oct 17, 2026
SubjectGradeComment
Value for moneyBFive people on the Team plan pay $145 a month billed annually for every feature, $29 a head, or $175 billed monthly. That's inside the cheaper quarter's $32.50. A solo sender who wants follow-ups needs Premium at $29 an account billed annually.
Free plan and trialCNo free plan. The 7-day trial needs no card but is capped at 50 emails a day, enough to check it works in your Gmail.
FeaturesCThe email job done fully from Gmail: unlimited emails and contacts, mail merge from Sheets, follow-ups that stop on a reply, A/B tests, inbox rotation and SMTP for big sends. It's a smaller job, though: no LinkedIn steps, and Standard has no follow-ups.
Ease of useBNo App Store rating on record, but it lives inside the Gmail you already use: write an email, pick a list or a Sheet and press the GMass button. Very little to learn.
Platforms and integrationsCIt needs Gmail or Google Workspace and the Chrome browser, so it's a computer-only tool. Google Sheets and Zapier connect, and there's an API from Premium.
Grade point averageFair, out of 4.02.4

An A is worth 4 points, a B 3, a C 2, a D 1 and an F nothing. The GPA is the average of the five.

Who GMass is for

  • Great if you want to send campaigns without leaving Gmail
  • Handy when your list lives in a Google Sheet that keeps changing
  • Good for solo senders who want follow-ups but not another app

Who it is not for

  • Not for you if you use Outlook or another mail service, as it's Gmail only
  • Skip it if you want LinkedIn steps, which GMass doesn't do
  • Tight if you're on Standard, which has no automatic follow-ups

Good to know

Good for

  • People who want to send cold email without leaving Gmail
  • Mail merges from a Google Sheet, including recurring sends
  • Solo senders who need follow-ups but not a separate outreach app

Worth knowing

  • Needs a Gmail or Google Workspace account and the Chrome browser; campaigns are written and sent from inside Gmail.
  • Each subscription covers one Gmail account, and the Standard plan has no automatic follow-ups.
  • Inbox rotation needs Professional or a Team plan; sending through GMass's own SMTP service costs $5 per 10,000 messages.
  • Gmail's own daily sending limits still apply to anything sent through the Gmail account itself.

Keep it, or make your own?

Whether this is something you could build for yourself with an AI app builder, and what you would give up.

Keep it

To replace GMass you would be making newsletters sent to thousands of people that still reach the inbox. That is not a weekend's work, with an AI app builder or without one.

It costs $240 a year.

What you could not

  • Newsletters sent to thousands of people that still reach the inbox.
  • It plugs into other products, Gmail, Google Sheets and Zapier among them, and has an API.
  • AI features, unless you pay a model provider for each request yourself.

What this rests on. GMass’s listing: what it does, where it runs, what it plugs into and what it costs. It is a judgement about the kind of software this is. We have not built a replacement for it, and making your own means looking after it too. How we decide, and every tool’s verdict.
