Part 01 · Overview
Welcome
What it is, who it suits, its grades and the ten things to know first
2.0
GPA, above 0 of the 51 other docs and wiki tools we grade
Guru is a knowledge platform that collects company information into a verified knowledge base and answers questions about it with cited, permission-aware AI. Its Knowledge Agents search more than 100 connected sources, draft documentation and flag stale or conflicting content for expert review. Guru is sold as a custom package through its sales team rather than at published per-seat prices.
To get you started, here are 7 things to know about Guru, taken from its own pages and our grades.
You can't sign up and poke about by yourself first either.
- 1
Best for one verified source of company answers
There's no native phone app, and small teams should look elsewhere.
- 2
It runs on Web
Web, with a browser extension too.
- 3
Verified knowledge base
Knowledge is organized into collections and kept current through verification. Usage signals, content age and policy rules handle most checks, and the rest are routed to assigned experts.
- 4
Knowledge Agents
Chat-style agents answer questions with citations, run multi-step research across sources and can act in connected systems, such as creating a ticket, as the signed-in user.
- 5
Search across connected sources
More than 100 connectors bring enterprise apps, databases and file systems into one search index, and each source keeps its original access permissions.
- 6
A 2.0 GPA, above 0 of 51
That is against the other docs and wiki tools we grade, on value, the free plan, features, ease of use and platforms.
- 7
Keep it
To replace Guru you would be making a search engine with an AI model behind it. That is not a weekend's work, with an AI app builder or without one.

The report card
Best for one verified source of company answers
Guru pulls company knowledge into one verified knowledge base, then answers questions about it with citations inside Slack, Teams or your browser. There's no price, no free plan, no trial and no sign-up button: you talk to sales, every invited user takes a paid seat, readers included, and Guru doesn't issue refunds. There's no native phone app, and small teams should look elsewhere.
| Subject | Grade | Comment |
|---|---|---|
| Value for money | C | No prices are published at all: the pricing page describes custom packages scoped with sales, so this lands where any unpriced tool lands. Two things to know before that call: people who only read still take a paid seat, and Guru doesn't issue refunds. |
| Free plan and trial | F | Nothing free on record: no free plan, no trial and no self-serve sign-up. The only way in is a conversation with the sales team, and a money-back arrangement isn't on offer either. |
| Features | B | It covers the whole internal-wiki job: collections kept current through verification, agents that answer with citations and can act in connected systems, search across more than 100 sources that keeps each one's permissions, plus SAML SSO, SCIM and audit logs. |
| Ease of use | C | No app rating on record, and there's real setting-up here: collections to build, experts to assign for verification, and connectors to wire before the answers are any good. You can't sign up and poke about by yourself first either. |
| Platforms and integrations | B | Web and a browser extension for Chrome, Edge and Opera, with Slack, Teams, more than 100 connectors and an MCP server doing the heavy lifting. There's no native mobile app and no desktop app: phones get a mobile web app or Slack. |
An A is worth 4 points, a B 3, a C 2, a D 1 and an F nothing. The GPA is the average of the five.
Who Guru is for
- Fits if you want one checked source of answers for staff and for your AI tools
- Works for support, sales or IT teams that need cited answers without leaving Slack or Teams
Who it is not for
- Skip it if you want to see a price or try it before talking to sales, because you can't do either
- Pricey if most of your people only read, since every invited user takes a paid seat
- Not for you if you want a native phone app, as mobile means a web app or Slack
- Watch out: canceling needs written notice 15 days before renewal, and Guru doesn't issue refunds
- Tight if you're small, as setup means building collections, assigning experts and wiring connectors
Good to know
Good for
- Companies that want one verified source of answers for staff and AI tools
- Support, sales and IT teams that need cited answers inside Slack or Teams
- Organizations that need audit trails and permission-aware AI answers
Worth knowing
- Guru publishes no prices: its pricing page describes custom packages scoped with the sales team, and the site offers no self-serve signup.
- Every invited user takes a paid seat, including people who only read content.
- There is no native mobile app; phones use a mobile web app or Slack, and Guru says its desktop experience has the most complete functionality.
- Canceling requires written notice at least 15 days before the renewal date, and Guru does not issue refunds.
Part 02 · Pricing
What it costs
Every plan, the free plan, ways to pay less and how prices have moved

Keep it, or make your own?
Whether this is something you could build for yourself with an AI app builder, and what you would give up.
Keep it
To replace Guru you would be making a search engine with an AI model behind it. That is not a weekend's work, with an AI app builder or without one.
That makes this kind of software worth paying for, not this one in particular: 48 of the 51 other docs and wiki tools grade higher.
What you could make
- Wiki and templates: an app builder makes these well.
What you could not
- A search engine with an AI model behind it.
- An AI agent, with the models and the safeguards behind it.
- Several people working in it at the same moment.
- It plugs into other products, Slack, Microsoft Teams and Salesforce among them.
- What a company asks for before it lets staff use something: single sign-on, SCIM, audit logs and roles and permissions.
- The depth: we grade its features B, which means it covers the whole job.
What this rests on. Guru’s listing: what it does, where it runs, what it plugs into and what it costs. It is a judgement about the kind of software this is. We have not built a replacement for it, and making your own means looking after it too. How we decide, and every tool’s verdict.
