Part 01 · Overview

Welcome

What it is, who it suits, its grades and the ten things to know first

2.0

GPA, above 1 of the 9 other HR software we grade

HiBob sells Bob, an HR platform built on a required Core module that holds employee data, org structure, self-service and workflows. Talent, Payroll, HR Planning and Finance suites are added on top: hiring, performance reviews, learning, time off and attendance, compensation and workforce planning. It runs its own payroll in the US and UK and syncs data to outside providers elsewhere.

To get you started, here are 7 things to know about HiBob, taken from its own pages and our grades.

It's built for companies with staff in several countries.
From our report card of HiBob
  1. 1

Best for mid-sized teams with staff in several countries

HiBob's Bob keeps people data, time off, reviews and hiring on one record, and runs payroll itself in the US and UK.

  2. 2

    It runs on 3 platforms

    Web, iOS and Android.

  3. 3

    Core HRIS and self-service

Every customer starts with Core: people data, org charts, requests and approvals, and employee self-service, with localized workflows for global teams.

  4. 4

    Time off and attendance

Policies for PTO and sick leave, timesheets and clock-in and clock-out, with hours and leave flowing straight into payroll.

  5. 5

    US and UK payroll

US payroll files taxes in all 50 states on Gusto's embedded engine; UK payroll handles HMRC tax codes, P11Ds, P60s and IR35 contractors.

  6. 6

    A 2.0 GPA, above 1 of 9

That is against the other HR software we grade, on value, the free plan, features, ease of use and platforms.

  7. 7

    Keep it

To replace HiBob you would be making payroll taxes worked out and filed with the government for you. That is not a weekend's work, with an AI app builder or without one.

The report card

Best for mid-sized teams with staff in several countries

HiBob's Bob keeps people data, time off, reviews and hiring on one record, and runs payroll itself in the US and UK. It's built for companies with staff in several countries. But you start with the required Core module, add suites on top, and get a quote for the lot.

ToolGPA report cardHiBobGraded Oct 18, 2026
SubjectGradeComment
Value for moneyCNo price is published: the pricing page is a demo form, and each company is quoted for the suites it picks on top of the required Core. So we can't say what a ten-person company pays, and with no figure to compare, it's a C.
Free plan and trialFNo free plan and no trial. The pricing page is a demo request form.
FeaturesBRecords, org charts and self-service, time off and clock-ins, reviews, learning, hiring, analytics, and US and UK payroll. That's the whole HR job and more, though outside the US and UK it hands pay data to another provider.
Ease of useCNo App Store rating on record, and choosing suites on top of Core and setting up workflows comes with a sales process.
Platforms and integrationsBWeb, iPhone and Android, with Slack, Google Workspace, ADP Workforce Now, Paylocity, TriNet and Xero. No desktop app.
Grade point averageFair, out of 4.02.0

An A is worth 4 points, a B 3, a C 2, a D 1 and an F nothing. The GPA is the average of the five.

Who HiBob is for

  • Great if your team is spread across several countries
  • Handy when you want reviews, hiring and pay changes on one employee record
  • Good for US or UK employers that want HR and payroll together

Who it is not for

  • Skip it if you want a price before a demo
  • Pricey if you need more than Core, as each suite is bought separately
  • Not for you if you want it to run payroll outside the US and UK

Good to know

Good for

  • Mid-sized companies with staff in several countries
  • HR teams that want one record behind hiring, reviews and payroll
  • US or UK employers wanting HR and payroll in one system

Worth knowing

  • No prices are published: the pricing page is a demo request form, and each company is quoted for the suites it picks.
  • Core is required, and Talent, Payroll, Planning and Finance are bought as separate suites on top of it.
  • Runs its own payroll only in the US and the UK; in other countries it passes data to an outside payroll provider.

Part 02 · Pricing

Part 04 · Standing

Where it stands

Its grades against its category, and whether to keep it or make your own

1/9

Other HR software it is graded above

HiBob's GPA of 2.0 is higher than 1 of the 9 other HR software we grade, and level with 3.

It stands best on features (B, above 1 of 9) and worst on free plan and trial (F, above 0).

Each grade against the category

Every bar is all 10 HR software we grade, cut by the letter each got. HiBob’s own letter is outlined.

Keep it, or make your own?

Whether this is something you could build for yourself with an AI app builder, and what you would give up.

Keep it

To replace HiBob you would be making payroll taxes worked out and filed with the government for you. That is not a weekend's work, with an AI app builder or without one.

That makes this kind of software worth paying for, not this one in particular: 5 of the 9 other HR software grade higher.

What you could make

  • Employee records, time off, applicant tracking and reports: an app builder makes these well.

What you could not

  • Payroll taxes worked out and filed with the government for you.
  • A real app for iOS and Android. Something home-made would be a web page.
  • It plugs into other products, Slack, Google Workspace and ADP Workforce Now among them.
  • AI features, unless you pay a model provider for each request yourself.
  • The depth: we grade its features B, which means it covers the whole job.

What this rests on. HiBob’s listing: what it does, where it runs, what it plugs into and what it costs. It is a judgement about the kind of software this is. We have not built a replacement for it, and making your own means looking after it too. How we decide, and every tool’s verdict.
