Part 01 · Overview

Welcome

What it is, who it suits, its grades and the ten things to know first

2.0

GPA, above 4 of the 51 other keyword research tools we grade

Keyword Insights groups keywords into clusters by how similar their Google results are, so each cluster maps to one page, and labels the search intent behind them. It also finds keyword ideas from autocomplete, Reddit, Quora and People Also Ask, writes content briefs and articles with AI, and points to Reddit, Quora and YouTube threads where a brand could earn mentions. Every feature draws on one monthly pool of credits.

To get you started, here are 9 things to know about Keyword Insights, taken from its own pages and our grades.

  1. 1

It also finds keywords, writes briefs and drafts articles, all from one pool of credits.

  2. 2

  3. 3

    Web.

  5. 5

    Keyword clustering

Groups a keyword list by overlap in Google results to show which pages to create, then relates clusters to each other into wider topics.

  6. 6

    Search intent labels

Counts how many of the top 10 results for each keyword are informational, commercial, transactional or other, to suggest the page type.

  7. 7

    Keyword Discovery

Pulls keyword ideas in real time from Google Autocomplete, Reddit, Quora and People Also Ask, with volume, difficulty and CPC.

  8. 8

    A 2.0 GPA, above 4 of 51

That is against the other keyword research tools we grade, on value, the free plan, features, ease of use and platforms.

  9. 9

    Keep it

To replace Keyword Insights you would be making search volumes for millions of keywords, gathered and kept up to date. That is not a weekend's work, with an AI app builder or without one.

The report card

Best for turning big keyword lists into a page plan

Keyword Insights groups your keywords by which ones Google ranks the same pages for, so each group becomes one page, and labels the intent behind them. It also finds keywords, writes briefs and drafts articles, all from one pool of credits. But Basic is $58 a month with one seat, an AI article eats 1,200 of its 10,000 credits, unused credits reset monthly, and the $1 trial needs a card.

ToolGPA report cardKeyword InsightsGraded Oct 23, 2026
SubjectGradeComment
Value for moneyDBasic is $58 a month for 10,000 credits, which is where this category's dearest tenth starts. Yearly billing takes 20% off. Credits go fast: a brief is 100 and an AI Writer Agent article 1,200, and unused ones vanish each month.
Free plan and trialDNo free plan. The 7-day trial costs $1 and gives 5,000 one-time credits, and it needs a card, though you aren't charged after it.
FeaturesBKeyword ideas from autocomplete, Reddit, Quora and People Also Ask with volume, difficulty and CPC, then SERP clustering, intent labels, briefs and an AI writer. That covers the whole job, from finding keywords to planning the pages.
Ease of useCNo rating on record. Clustering a list is simple enough, but you'll want to learn the credit costs first, as every feature draws on the same pool at a different rate.
Platforms and integrationsBWeb only, with no desktop or phone app. It connects to Google Search Console and WordPress.
Grade point averageFair, out of 4.02.0

An A is worth 4 points, a B 3, a C 2, a D 1 and an F nothing. The GPA is the average of the five.

Who Keyword Insights is for

  • Fits if you have thousands of keywords and need to know which ones belong on one page
  • Works for content teams that want research, briefs and drafts in the same place

Who it is not for

  • Pricey if you mostly want AI articles, as Basic's credits cover about 8 and nothing else
  • Tight if you work with others, as Basic has one seat and sharing starts at $99
  • Not for you if you hate credits that expire, as unused ones reset every month and all go when you cancel
  • Watch out: pay-as-you-go credits only work for clustering and expire 30 days after purchase
  • Watch out: the 7-day trial costs $1 and needs a card

Good to know

Good for

  • SEOs turning large keyword lists into a page-by-page content plan
  • Agencies planning topical coverage for client sites
  • Content teams that want research, briefs and drafts in one tool

Worth knowing

  • Unused subscription credits reset at the end of each billing period, and all credits are removed when a subscription ends.
  • Basic has a single user seat; team sharing starts at Professional.
  • Pay-as-you-go credits work only for clustering and expire 30 days after purchase.
  • An AI Writing Agent article costs 1,200 credits, so Basic's 10,000 credits cover about 8 such articles and nothing else.

Keyword Insights's GPA of 2.0 is higher than 4 of the 51 other keyword research tools we grade, and level with 7.

It stands best on features (B, above 43 of 51) and worst on value for money (D, above 0).

Its paid plans start at $58 a month, against a middle price of $18 for the category: 33 of the 35 others that charge start lower.

Keep it, or make your own?

Whether this is something you could build for yourself with an AI app builder, and what you would give up.

Keep it

To replace Keyword Insights you would be making search volumes for millions of keywords, gathered and kept up to date. That is not a weekend's work, with an AI app builder or without one.

That makes this kind of software worth paying for, not this one in particular: 40 of the 51 other keyword research tools grade higher. It costs $696 a year.

What you could make

  • Long-form writing: an app builder makes this well.

What you could not

  • Search volumes for millions of keywords, gathered and kept up to date.
  • A score built from what the top results for each keyword cover.
  • It plugs into other products, Google Search Console and WordPress among them, and has an API.
  • AI features, unless you pay a model provider for each request yourself.
  • The depth: we grade its features B, which means it covers the whole job.

What this rests on. Keyword Insights’s listing: what it does, where it runs, what it plugs into and what it costs. It is a judgement about the kind of software this is. We have not built a replacement for it, and making your own means looking after it too. How we decide, and every tool’s verdict.
