Part 01 · Overview
Welcome
What it is, who it suits, its grades and the ten things to know first
3.4
GPA, above 68 of the 69 other daily planner apps we grade
LiveIt, formerly Journal it!, is a personal organizer that combines a daily planner, tasks and goals, habit tracking, notes and a journal in one app. The planner groups the day into named time blocks and pulls in events from Google and Apple calendars, and whatever gets completed feeds a chronological timeline. It works offline and is made by Doit Apps, a one-person company incorporated in Estonia.
To get you started, here are 9 things to know about LiveIt, taken from its own pages and our grades.
No store rating on record, and a planner, journal, notes, habits and goals in one app is a lot to take in.
- 1
Best for planner, journal, notes and habits in one app
LiveIt, which used to be called Journal it!, rolls a planner, tasks, habits, notes and a journal into one app.
- 2
Paid plans start at $1.67 a month when paid by the year
As its pricing page puts it: $19.99 per year, or $1.99 per month.
- 3
There is a free plan
Unlimited entries, notes and tasks, the planner with time blocking, habits, goals, journaling, photo and file attachments, cross-device sync and offline use, with no ads.
- 4
It runs on 5 platforms
Web, macOS, Windows, iOS and Android.
- 5
Planner with time blocks and day themes
Named blocks such as Morning or Deep Work hold reminders, habits and calendar sessions, and a day theme like Work Day applies a preset set of blocks.
- 6
Tasks, goals and schedulers
Tasks move through a five-stage workflow. Attaching a scheduler to a task or goal creates its recurring calendar sessions in the planner automatically.
- 7
Habits and trackers
Habits appear in the daily plan with per-day targets, up to 10 slots per reminder, streaks and KPIs, and can be linked to the goals they serve.
- 8
A 3.4 GPA, above 68 of 69
That is against the other daily planner apps we grade, on value, the free plan, features, ease of use and platforms.
- 9
Keep it
The plain part of LiveIt you could make: tasks, time blocking, daily notes, habit tracking and notes. What surrounds it you could not. The 4 things listed below take a company, not a weekend.

The report card
Best for planner, journal, notes and habits in one app
LiveIt, which used to be called Journal it!, rolls a planner, tasks, habits, notes and a journal into one app. The free plan has no caps on entries, notes or tasks, syncs on every device and shows no ads, and Pro is $19.99 a year. But it's built for one person, with no family plan and nothing for teams, there's a lot to set up, encryption and the timer are Pro, and there's no Linux app.
| Subject | Grade | Comment |
|---|---|---|
| Value for money | A | Pro is $19.99 a year, which is $1.67 a month when the cheaper quarter of this category starts at $3.99. Nothing here undercuts it except the apps that are free outright. Lifetime is $99 once, with a 60-day money-back guarantee. |
| Free plan and trial | A | No caps to walk into: unlimited entries, notes and tasks, the planner with time blocks, habits, goals, the journal, attachments and sync across every platform, with no ads. What you give up is encryption, the timer, video files and subtasks. |
| Features | B | It covers the whole job: named time blocks and day themes, tasks on a five-stage workflow, schedulers that create repeating sessions, habits tied to goals, a journal with mood tracking, and linked notes with a whiteboard. Events come in from Google and Apple calendars. |
| Ease of use | C | No store rating on record, and a planner, journal, notes, habits and goals in one app is a lot to take in. Day themes, schedulers and a five-stage task workflow all want setting up before it fits you. It does at least work offline everywhere. |
| Platforms and integrations | A | Web, Mac, Windows, iPhone and Android, the full set, with Google, Apple and Outlook calendars, Apple Reminders, and Google Drive, iCloud or pCloud holding your files. No Linux app, so Linux users get the web version. |
An A is worth 4 points, a B 3, a C 2, a D 1 and an F nothing. The GPA is the average of the five.
Who LiveIt is for
- Fits if you want your planner, journal, notes and habits in one app
- Works for people who plan on trains and planes, since it works fully offline
Who it is not for
- Not for you if you're planning for a team or family, as each person needs their own account
- Skip it if you want encryption without paying, because end-to-end encryption is a Pro feature, as are the timer and subtasks
- Skip it if all you want is a simple daily list, since this is five tools in one
- Watch out: attachments live in your own Google Drive or iCloud, so their limit is your storage there
- Not for you if you're on Linux and want an app, as the vendor points you to the web version
Good to know
Good for
- People who want planner, journal, notes and habits in one personal app
- Planning without a connection: it is built to work fully offline
- Buyers on a small budget, with Pro at $19.99 a year
Worth knowing
- End-to-end encryption, the built-in timer, video attachments, subtasks and the task backlog are Pro features.
- Text data is stored on the vendor's server for syncing; files and media use your own Google Drive or iCloud storage, which sets the attachment limit.
- It is designed for individuals, not teams: there is no family plan and each person needs their own account.
- There is no Linux app; the vendor points Linux users to the web version.

Keep it, or make your own?
Whether this is something you could build for yourself with an AI app builder, and what you would give up.
Keep it

It is one of the better ones too: its GPA of 3.4 is higher than 68 of the 69 other daily planner apps we grade. It costs $19.99 a year.
What you could make
- Tasks, time blocking, daily notes, habit tracking and notes: an app builder makes these well.
What you could not
- Apps for macOS, Windows, iOS and Android that stay in step with each other.
- It plugs into other products, Google Calendar, Apple Calendar and Outlook Calendar among them.
- End-to-end encryption done properly.
- The depth: we grade its features B, which means it covers the whole job.
What this rests on. LiveIt’s listing: what it does, where it runs, what it plugs into and what it costs. It is a judgement about the kind of software this is. We have not built a replacement for it, and making your own means looking after it too. How we decide, and every tool’s verdict.
