Best for crawling very large sites before each release

Lumar is a cloud crawler for very large sites: up to 450 URLs a second, 350+ reports, and a Protect app that can stop a code release when an SEO test fails. You can't see a price or try it first, though. It's quote-only, with no free plan or trial, and crawl limits are set in each contract.

Who Lumar is for

  • Fits if your site has hundreds of thousands of pages and an enterprise budget
  • Makes sense if you want SEO checks to block a release in your CI/CD pipeline

Who Lumar is not for

  • Not for you if you want to see a price before talking to sales, as it's quote-only
  • Skip it if you want to try it first, since there's no free plan or trial on record
  • Tight if you crawl a lot, as active projects and URLs per billing period are capped by contract
  • Watch out: SEO and GEO professional services are a separate monthly contract

Why Lumar gets a 2.0

Five grades, each with its reason. The GPA is their average: an A is 4 points, an F is none.

  • CValue for moneyNo price is published. Lumar's pricing page is a quote form, so you only find out what it costs on a sales call, with packages built from the apps and metrics you pick. With no figure to compare, it sits at the ordinary grade.
  • FFree plan and trialNothing free on record: the site mentions no free plan and no trial. Access starts with a demo or a quote.
  • BFeaturesCrawls up to 450 URLs a second, with 350+ reports on technical SEO, AI search readiness, speed and WCAG accessibility. Monitor follows many domains, and Protect tests new code in GitHub, Jenkins, CircleCI or Azure DevOps. Nothing in the listing shows a gap in the core job.
  • CEase of useNo rating on record. It's four apps on one crawler, with projects, crawl schedules, speed limits and custom extractions to set up, and access goes through a demo first.
  • BPlatforms and integrationsWeb only, with no desktop or phone app. It links to Search Console, Google Analytics, Adobe Analytics, Looker Studio, GitHub, Splunk, Slack and Zapier, and has a public API.

Keep Lumar, or make your own?

Keep it

Nothing Lumar does is plain enough to make in a weekend. The 7 things listed below take a company.

That makes this kind of software worth paying for, not this one in particular: 64 of the 83 other technical SEO tools grade higher.

What you could not

  • A crawler that checks every page of a site.
  • The same prompts asked of ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini and Google's AI answers every day, and the answers kept.
  • Speed tests run from real browsers on a schedule.
  • Connections that pull numbers from dozens of other services.
  • It plugs into other products, Google Search Console, Google Analytics and Adobe Analytics among them, and has an API.
  • AI features, unless you pay a model provider for each request yourself.
  • The depth: we grade its features B, which means it covers the whole job.

What this rests on. Lumar’s listing: what it does, where it runs, what it plugs into and what it costs. It is a judgement about the kind of software this is. We have not built a replacement for it, and making your own means looking after it too. How we decide, and every tool’s verdict.
