Part 01 · Overview

Welcome

What it is, who it suits, its grades and the ten things to know first

2.4

GPA, above 3 of the 21 other spreadsheet and database tools we grade

Memento Database is a no-code database app for tracking personal and business data, from inventory and customer records to collections. Users design libraries, its term for tables, from custom fields, link them to one another, and view entries as lists, tables, cards, maps or calendars. Native apps for Android, iOS, Windows, macOS and Linux sync through Memento Cloud, and the mobile apps work fully offline.

To get you started, here are 9 things to know about Memento Database, taken from its own pages and our grades.

There's no code to write: you pick the fields for a library, and the phone's camera, barcode scanner and GPS do some of the typing for you.
From our grade for ease of use
  1. 1

Best for a custom database on your phone, offline

Memento is a no-code database for your phone that keeps working with no signal: build libraries, link them, scan barcodes in and view them as a list, a map or a calendar.

  2. 2

Paid plans start at $6 a month

As its pricing page puts it: $6 per month, billed annually ($8 billed monthly).

  3. 3

    There is a free plan

Free forever: 100 MB of cloud storage, 3 cloud libraries, unlimited entries, unlimited local libraries on mobile and 200 AI credits a month, with 1 automation rule and 1 script per library.

  4. 4

    It runs on 5 platforms

Android, iOS, Windows, macOS and Linux.

  5. 5

    Custom libraries with linked entries

Each library is built from field types that include text, numbers, dates, files, barcodes, signatures and GPS locations. Link-to-entry fields create one-to-many and many-to-many relationships.

  6. 6

List, table, card, map and calendar views

Entries can be shown as a list, a spreadsheet-like table, cards, a map for location data or a calendar, then filtered, sorted, grouped and aggregated.

  7. 7

    Offline mobile apps

The Android and iOS apps work fully offline with local or cloud libraries and sync once reconnected. They use the camera, barcode scanner and GPS for data entry.

  8. 8

    A 2.4 GPA, above 3 of 21

That is against the other spreadsheet and database tools we grade, on value, the free plan, features, ease of use and platforms.

  9. 9

    Keep it

To replace Memento Database you would be making a builder that other people can use without writing code. That is not a weekend's work, with an AI app builder or without one.

The report card

Best for a custom database on your phone, offline

Memento is a no-code database for your phone that keeps working with no signal: build libraries, link them, scan barcodes in and view them as a list, a map or a calendar. But the free plan stops at 3 cloud libraries and 100 MB, the desktop apps need a connection to open cloud libraries, there's no web app, and Sheets sync and encryption are Android only.

ToolGPA report cardMemento DatabaseGraded Oct 10, 2026
SubjectGradeComment
Value for moneyCPro is $6 a month billed annually, $8 monthly, which sits in the ordinary band here: above the $5.40 lowest quarter, below the $9.99 middle. It's a flat price for one person, not per seat, and buys 5 GB, unlimited libraries and 2,000 AI credits. Teams pay $11 a user for Business.
Free plan and trialCFree forever, with unlimited entries and unlimited local libraries on your phone, but the caps arrive quickly: 100 MB of cloud storage, 3 cloud libraries, and 1 automation rule, 1 script and 1 chart per library. The plan's own summary calls the functionality limited on mobile and desktop.
FeaturesCFields from text and dates to barcodes, signatures and GPS, linked entries, five views, automation rules, JavaScript, web forms and published pages. But the listing names the gaps: desktop apps can't open cloud libraries offline, and Sheets sync and encrypted libraries are Android only.
Ease of useB4.65 from 320 App Store ratings, just enough ratings to count, which is a B rather than an A. There's no code to write: you pick the fields for a library, and the phone's camera, barcode scanner and GPS do some of the typing for you.
Platforms and integrationsBApps for Android, iPhone, Windows, macOS and Linux, with Zapier, Google Drive and a cloud API. There's no web app at all, though, so an A is out, and several features are listed for Android only.
Grade point averageFair, out of 4.02.4

An A is worth 4 points, a B 3, a C 2, a D 1 and an F nothing. The GPA is the average of the five.

Who Memento Database is for

  • Fits if you collect data out in the field and need the phone apps to work offline
  • Works for cataloguing stock or a collection by scanning barcodes straight in

Who it is not for

  • Tight if you're staying free, with 3 cloud libraries, 100 MB and 1 automation rule, script and chart per library
  • Skip it if you work at a desk with a patchy connection, as only the Android and iPhone apps work offline
  • Not for you if you're on an iPhone and want Google Sheets or Calendar sync or encrypted libraries, which are Android only
  • Watch out: there's no web app, and user groups and advanced access control need Business at $11 a user

Good to know

Good for

  • Collecting data in the field on a phone without a connection
  • Cataloging collections, inventory and assets with barcode scanning
  • Individuals and small teams that want a custom database without coding

Worth knowing

  • The Free plan is limited to 100 MB of cloud storage and 3 cloud libraries, with 1 automation rule, 1 script and 1 chart per library.
  • Desktop apps need an internet connection to open cloud libraries; only the Android and iOS apps work offline.
  • Google Sheets and Google Calendar sync, Google Docs export and encrypted libraries are listed as Android-specific features.
  • Centralized user management, user groups and advanced access control require the Business plan.

Keep it, or make your own?

Whether this is something you could build for yourself with an AI app builder, and what you would give up.

Keep it

To replace Memento Database you would be making a builder that other people can use without writing code. That is not a weekend's work, with an AI app builder or without one.

That makes this kind of software worth paying for, not this one in particular: 14 of the 21 other spreadsheet and database tools grade higher. It costs $72 a year.

What you could make

  • Forms: an app builder makes this well.

What you could not

  • A builder that other people can use without writing code.
  • Connections to other products, each kept working as those products change.
  • Databases with views, filters and links between them.
  • Apps for macOS, Windows, Linux, iOS and Android that stay in step with each other.
  • AI features, unless you pay a model provider for each request yourself.

What this rests on. Memento Database’s listing: what it does, where it runs, what it plugs into and what it costs. It is a judgement about the kind of software this is. We have not built a replacement for it, and making your own means looking after it too. How we decide, and every tool’s verdict.
