Part 01 · Overview
Welcome
What it is, who it suits, its grades and the ten things to know first
2.6
GPA, above 42 of the 79 other project management tools we grade
Nifty is a project management workspace that combines roadmaps, tasks, discussions, docs, files, forms and team chat. Milestones sit on a timeline roadmap where progress rolls up automatically, and tasks can be viewed as Kanban, list, timeline, calendar or swimlane. Its pricing is unusual: larger teams pay one flat monthly price per plan, while teams of fewer than 7 can pay per member instead.
To get you started, here are 9 things to know about Nifty, taken from its own pages and our grades.
- 1
Best for teams of 7 or more on one flat price
Nifty puts roadmaps, tasks, chat, docs and files in one hub, priced per team: Pro is a flat $79 a month for up to 10 members, or $10 a member for teams under 7.
- 2
Paid plans start at $10 a month for each person
As its pricing page puts it: $10 per member / month, billed annually (per-member Pro).
- 3
There is a free plan
Unlimited members, 2 active projects and 100 MB of storage, with tasks, milestones, discussions, docs, files, team chat and portfolios.
- 4
It runs on 5 platforms
Web, macOS, Windows, iOS and Android, with a browser extension too.
- 5
Roadmaps and milestones
Goals and milestones are mapped on a timeline, and progress rolls up automatically as the tasks behind each milestone are completed.
- 6
Task views
Tasks switch between Kanban, list, timeline, calendar and swimlane views. Recurring tasks and task dependencies are included on the Free plan.
- 7
Discussions and team chat
Each project has its own discussions, alongside team chat and one-click video calls, so conversations stay attached to the work.
- 8
A 2.6 GPA, above 42 of 79
That is against the other project management tools we grade, on value, the free plan, features, ease of use and platforms.
- 9
Keep it
To replace Nifty you would be making chat that a whole team counts on staying up. That is not a weekend's work, with an AI app builder or without one.

The report card
Best for teams of 7 or more on one flat price
Nifty puts roadmaps, tasks, chat, docs and files in one hub, priced per team: Pro is a flat $79 a month for up to 10 members, or $10 a member for teams under 7. The free plan stops at 2 active projects and 100 MB with no time tracking. Flat plans cap at 10 and 30 members, past which it's $399 a month, and the API, SSO and forms sit on Business or Unlimited.
| Subject | Grade | Comment |
|---|---|---|
| Value for money | C | Flat Pro is $79 a month for up to 10 members billed annually, which is about $8 each only if you fill all ten seats. Pay per member and it's $10, the dear edge of this category, $16 monthly. And the open API, SSO and forms sit on Business and Unlimited, the latter $399 a month. |
| Free plan and trial | C | Free lets in unlimited members and keeps milestones, docs, team chat, recurring tasks and dependencies. Then it stops dead at 2 active projects and 100 MB of storage, with no time tracking, custom fields or automations. |
| Features | B | Milestones on a roadmap with progress that rolls up by itself, tasks as Kanban, list, timeline, calendar or swimlane, discussions, team chat and video calls, docs with Google Docs sync, then time tracking, budgets and automations on Pro and goals and workloads on Business. The job's covered. |
| Ease of use | C | No store rating on record. Having chat, docs and tasks in one workspace saves stitching things together, and Orbit AI will draft a project plan, but you still set up the projects, milestones and fields, and you have to decode six plans first. |
| Platforms and integrations | A | Web, Mac, Windows, iPhone, Android and a browser extension, which is the full spread. It connects to Slack, Zoom, GitHub, Google Drive, Harvest, Miro, Typeform and Zapier, with an MCP link for Claude and ChatGPT, though the open API needs Business. |
An A is worth 4 points, a B 3, a C 2, a D 1 and an F nothing. The GPA is the average of the five.
Who Nifty is for
- Fits if you're an agency or client-facing team wanting chat, docs and tasks in one tool
- Works for teams of 7 to 10, where $79 a month flat covers every member
Who it is not for
- Pricey if there are only two or three of you, at $10 a member a month billed annually or $16 monthly
- Tight if you're staying free, with 2 active projects, 100 MB of storage and no time tracking, custom fields or automations
- Skip it if you've just passed 30 members, because flat Business stops there and Unlimited is $399 a month
- Watch out: the open API, Microsoft SSO and custom domains need Business, and custom SAML, white labeling and forms need Unlimited
- Watch out: monthly billing costs more, $99 instead of $79 a month for flat Pro
Good to know
Good for
- Agencies and client-facing teams that want chat, docs and tasks in one tool
- Teams of 7 or more, where one flat price covers every member
- Small projects that fit the Free plan's 2 active projects
Worth knowing
- The Free plan is limited to 2 active projects and 100 MB of storage, and has no time tracking, custom fields or automations.
- Flat plans cap team size: 10 members on Pro and 30 on Business; beyond that the Unlimited plan is $399 a month billed annually.
- Per-member pricing is pitched at teams of fewer than 7; for 7 or more people the pricing page steers buyers to the flat plans.
- The open API, Microsoft SSO and custom domains need Business; custom SAML, white labeling and native forms need Unlimited.

Keep it, or make your own?
Whether this is something you could build for yourself with an AI app builder, and what you would give up.
Keep it
To replace Nifty you would be making chat that a whole team counts on staying up. That is not a weekend's work, with an AI app builder or without one.
It costs $120 a year.
What you could make
- Tasks, kanban boards, Gantt & timelines, documents and time tracking: an app builder makes these well.
What you could not
- Chat that a whole team counts on staying up.
- Apps for macOS, Windows, iOS and Android that stay in step with each other.
- It is priced for each person, which means accounts and billing for a team.
- It plugs into other products, Slack, Zoom and GitHub among them.
- AI features, unless you pay a model provider for each request yourself.
- The depth: we grade its features B, which means it covers the whole job.
What this rests on. Nifty’s listing: what it does, where it runs, what it plugs into and what it costs. It is a judgement about the kind of software this is. We have not built a replacement for it, and making your own means looking after it too. How we decide, and every tool’s verdict.
