Part 01 · Overview

Welcome

What it is, who it suits, its grades and the ten things to know first

2.4

GPA, above 6 of the 13 other e-signature and proposal tools we grade

Prospero is proposal software for freelancers and agencies: you build proposals from templates and a content library in a drag-and-drop editor, send them as links and see who opened them, when and for how long. Clients sign in the proposal by typing, drawing or uploading a signature. There is one plan, priced per team member, with unlimited proposals and an AI writing assistant.

To get you started, here are 9 things to know about Prospero, taken from its own pages and our grades.

  1. 1

Best for cheap proposals for freelancers and small agencies

We've graded it against its own rivals, like Better Proposals and PandaDoc.

The report card

Best for cheap proposals for freelancers and small agencies

Prospero is proposal software: proposals built from 100+ templates, an AI writing helper, tracking of who read what, and a signature at the end. We've graded it against its own rivals, like Better Proposals and PandaDoc. At $12 a person billed yearly it's the cheaper pick, but each proposal takes just two signers.

ToolGPA report cardProsperoGraded Oct 17, 2026
SubjectGradeComment
Value for moneyB$36 a month for three, at $12 a head billed yearly ($19 monthly), for unlimited proposals on its one plan. Against its own rivals that's cheap: Better Proposals Premium is $21 a head, and PandaDoc's pricing tables need Business at $49.
Free plan and trialCNo free plan, but a 14-day free trial that needs no card, with the full set of proposal features.
FeaturesCTemplates, variables, an interactive pricing module, AI writing, open and read tracking, reminders, expiry dates and passwords. It does the proposal job fully, but that's a smaller job than general signing: its feature list names two signers per proposal.
Ease of useCNo store rating on record. It's a web editor where the work is building the proposal itself, so expect some setting up, though the 100+ templates give you a head start.
Platforms and integrationsBWeb only, with Stripe, QuickBooks, FreshBooks, Xero, Slack and Monday.com, and more through Zapier and Make. No phone or desktop app.
Grade point averageFair, out of 4.02.4

An A is worth 4 points, a B 3, a C 2, a D 1 and an F nothing. The GPA is the average of the five.

Who Prospero is for

  • Great if you're a freelancer who wants good-looking proposals for $12 a month
  • Handy when you want to know if the client actually read it, and for how long
  • Good for anyone invoicing through QuickBooks, FreshBooks or Xero

Who it is not for

  • Not for you if your contracts need more than two signers
  • Skip it if you need help outside European office hours, as support runs 9 to 5 GMT+2 on weekdays
  • Pricey if you pay monthly, at $19 a head against $12 billed yearly

Good to know

Good for

  • Freelancers and small agencies sending design-led proposals
  • Teams that want to know when a client has read a proposal
  • Businesses that invoice through QuickBooks, FreshBooks or Xero

Keep it, or make your own?

Whether this is something you could build for yourself with an AI app builder, and what you would give up.

Your call

You could make the core of Prospero for yourself: documents and templates.

What you would give up is listed below. Whether that is worth the price is your call. It costs $144 a year.

What you could make

  • Documents and templates: an app builder makes these well.
  • It runs in a browser, which is where something home-made would run too.

What you could not

  • It is priced for each person, which means accounts and billing for a team.
  • It plugs into other products, Stripe, QuickBooks and FreshBooks among them.
  • AI features, unless you pay a model provider for each request yourself.

What this rests on. Prospero’s listing: what it does, where it runs, what it plugs into and what it costs. It is a judgement about the kind of software this is. We have not built a replacement for it, and making your own means looking after it too. How we decide, and every tool’s verdict.
