Welcome

What it is, who it suits, its grades and the ten things to know first

2.0

GPA, above 1 of the 18 other payroll services we grade

RemotePeople is an employer of record and global hiring service. It employs staff on a company's behalf in more than 150 countries, runs payroll through a company's own entities, engages and pays contractors, and recruits candidates in-country. It also sells a US PEO, US payroll, visas and company incorporation.

To get you started, here are 8 things to know about RemotePeople, taken from its own pages and our grades.

A Command Center takes pay changes and leave requests in plain English, but every plan starts with a proposal and payroll funding terms.

It stands best on value for money (B, above 13 of 18) and worst on free plan and trial (F, above 0).

Its paid plans start at $25 a month for each person, against a middle price of $29 for the category: 3 of the 13 others that charge start lower.

Keep it, or make your own?

Whether this is something you could build for yourself with an AI app builder, and what you would give up.

Keep it

To replace RemotePeople you would be making payroll taxes worked out and filed with the government for you. That is not a weekend's work, with an AI app builder or without one.

That makes this kind of software worth paying for, not this one in particular: 16 of the 18 other payroll services grade higher. It costs $300 a year.

What you could not

  • Payroll taxes worked out and filed with the government for you.
  • It is priced for each person, which means accounts and billing for a team.
  • AI features, unless you pay a model provider for each request yourself.
  • The depth: we grade its features B, which means it covers the whole job.

What this rests on. RemotePeople’s listing: what it does, where it runs, what it plugs into and what it costs. It is a judgement about the kind of software this is. We have not built a replacement for it, and making your own means looking after it too. How we decide, and every tool’s verdict.
