Part 01 · Overview
Welcome
What it is, who it suits, its grades and the ten things to know first
2.6
GPA, above 23 of the 48 other AI meeting note takers we grade
Scribbl records meetings without a bot: a Chrome extension captures Google Meet from the browser tab, and a desktop app for Mac and Windows captures Zoom and Microsoft Teams from the computer. Each call produces notes, action items, a speaker-labeled transcript and video in one searchable library. Paid plans can connect that library to Claude or ChatGPT so the assistant can search and read past meetings.
To get you started, here are 9 things to know about Scribbl, taken from its own pages and our grades.
No store rating on record, so that install-and-go is what the B rests on.
- 1
Best for bot-free notes on Google Meet, Zoom and Teams
Scribbl takes meeting notes without a bot: a Chrome extension records Google Meet and a desktop app records Zoom and Teams, all into one library.
- 2
Paid plans start at $13 a month for each person
As its pricing page puts it: $13 per user / month, billed annually.
- 3
There is a free plan
10 meetings a month with no limit on length on Google Meet, Zoom and Microsoft Teams, AI notes, action items, a transcript and the video, 1 AI chat question per meeting and 3 Automations runs a month.
- 4
It runs on 3 platforms
Web, macOS and Windows, with a browser extension too.
- 5
Google Meet recording in the browser
The Chrome extension records and transcribes from inside your own Meet tab. Nothing joins the participant list, and you do not need to be the host.
- 6
Scribbl Desktop for Zoom and Teams
A Mac and Windows app records Zoom and Microsoft Teams calls from your computer and starts on its own when a supported meeting window opens. It is included in every plan.
- 7
Notes, action items and transcript
Each call returns a summary, key topics, decisions, open questions and action items, with a transcript that has speaker labels and timestamps linked to the video.
- 8
A 2.6 GPA, above 23 of 48
That is against the other AI meeting note takers we grade, on value, the free plan, features, ease of use and platforms.
- 9
Keep it
To replace Scribbl you would be making a bot that joins your calls and turns the talk into notes. That is not a weekend's work, with an AI app builder or without one.

The report card
Best for bot-free notes on Google Meet, Zoom and Teams
Scribbl takes meeting notes without a bot: a Chrome extension records Google Meet and a desktop app records Zoom and Teams, all into one library. The limits are the catch. Free stops at 10 meetings a month with 1 chat question a meeting and no integrations, there's no phone app, the Mac app won't run on Intel Macs, the Windows installer isn't code-signed, and a team of 1 or 2 on Team pays $50 each.
| Subject | Grade | Comment |
|---|---|---|
| Value for money | C | Pro is $13 a user a month billed annually, or $20 if you pay monthly. That lands between the low and the dear end of this category, so it's ordinary money for unlimited meetings, unlimited chat and the integrations. Team is $20 a person for 3 or more. Just 1 or 2 of you? That's $50 each. |
| Free plan and trial | C | Free is 10 meetings a month of any length, each with notes, action items, a transcript and the video. That's a couple of calls a week, so it's a cap you'll run into. You also get 1 AI chat question per meeting, 3 Automations runs a month and none of the integrations. |
| Features | B | It covers the whole job: summaries, decisions, open questions and action items, a speaker-labelled transcript linked to the video, your own note templates, and one search across Meet, Zoom and Teams. Paid plans let Claude or ChatGPT read your meetings. No phone app, so nothing for a meeting in a room. |
| Ease of use | B | Install the extension, install the desktop app, and that's it — nothing joins the call, you don't need to be the host, and the desktop app starts itself when a Zoom or Teams window opens. No store rating on record, so that install-and-go is what the B rests on. The Windows installer isn't code-signed yet. |
| Platforms and integrations | B | A Chrome extension, a web library and desktop apps for Mac and Windows, with HubSpot, Pipedrive, Slack, Asana, Monday and Google Drive from Pro. That's web and computer with a real list of hook-ups. What it hasn't got is a phone, and the Mac app needs Apple Silicon. |
An A is worth 4 points, a B 3, a C 2, a D 1 and an F nothing. The GPA is the average of the five.
Who Scribbl is for
- Fits if you don't want a bot in the list of people on the call
- Works for people on Google Meet who still get the odd Zoom or Teams invite
Who it is not for
- Tight if you stay free: 10 meetings a month, 1 AI chat question a meeting, 3 Automations runs and no integrations
- Skip it if you want to record a meeting in a room on your phone, as no mobile app is listed
- Not for you if you're on an Intel Mac and need Zoom or Teams, because the desktop app needs Apple Silicon
- Pricey if there are only one or two of you on Team, at $50 a person a month against $20 for 3 or more
- Watch out: the Windows installer isn't code-signed yet, and the Claude and ChatGPT connector needs a paid plan on both sides
Good to know
Good for
- People who do not want a bot listed among the call participants
- Google Meet users who also get Zoom and Teams invites
- Individuals with ten or fewer recorded meetings a month
Worth knowing
- The Free plan covers 10 meetings a month, 1 AI chat question per meeting and 3 Automations runs a month; the integrations start with Pro.
- The Mac desktop app needs Apple Silicon, so Zoom and Teams recording is not available on Intel Macs. The Windows installer is not yet code-signed.
- The Claude and ChatGPT connector needs a paid Scribbl plan and a paid Claude or ChatGPT plan.
- Team's $20 per person rate needs 3 or more people; a team of 1 or 2 pays $50 per person a month, or $600 a year.

Keep it, or make your own?
Whether this is something you could build for yourself with an AI app builder, and what you would give up.
Keep it
To replace Scribbl you would be making a bot that joins your calls and turns the talk into notes. That is not a weekend's work, with an AI app builder or without one.
It costs $156 a year.
What you could make
- Templates: an app builder makes this well.
What you could not
- A bot that joins your calls and turns the talk into notes.
- An AI model, which you can rent by the request but not make.
- Speech turned into text you can trust.
- A real app for macOS and Windows. Something home-made would be a web page.
- It is priced for each person, which means accounts and billing for a team.
- It plugs into other products, Google Meet, Zoom and Microsoft Teams among them.
- The depth: we grade its features B, which means it covers the whole job.
What this rests on. Scribbl’s listing: what it does, where it runs, what it plugs into and what it costs. It is a judgement about the kind of software this is. We have not built a replacement for it, and making your own means looking after it too. How we decide, and every tool’s verdict.
