Part 01 · Overview

Welcome

What it is, who it suits, its grades and the ten things to know first

2.0

GPA, above 4 of the 64 other SEO tools we grade

SEO Scout is a web-based SEO tool that combines a site's Google Search Console data with its own crawler to find low click-through pages, missing keywords, cannibalization and internal linking gaps. It also has keyword and competitor research, a topic-based content grader and, on the top plan, SEO split testing of titles and page elements.

To get you started, here are 9 things to know about SEO Scout, taken from its own pages and our grades.

Not much happens until you connect Search Console, and then there are plenty of reports to work through.
From our grade for ease of use
  1. 1

Best for acting on your own Search Console data

SEO Scout uses your own Search Console data and its own crawler to find pages with poor click-through, keywords missing from your copy, cannibalization and weak internal links, and it grades drafts against what ranks.

  2. 2

Paid plans start at $49 a month

As its pricing page puts it: $49 per month, billed monthly.

  3. 3

    You can try it first

  4. 4

    It runs on Web

    Web.

  5. 5

    Search Console rank tracking

Tracks every keyword a connected site appears for in Google Search Console, with no keyword cap, and groups keywords and pages to follow their performance.

  6. 6

    Keyword opportunities

Flags page-two keywords, queries with low click-through rates and words a site ranks for that are missing from its titles, headings and copy.

  7. 7

    Topic research and content grader

Analyzes the articles that rank for a topic to list the entities and terms they cover, then grades your draft for what it is missing.

  8. 8

    A 2.0 GPA, above 4 of 64

That is against the other SEO tools we grade, on value, the free plan, features, ease of use and platforms.

  9. 9

    Keep it

To replace SEO Scout you would be making search volumes for millions of keywords, gathered and kept up to date. That is not a weekend's work, with an AI app builder or without one.

The report card

Best for acting on your own Search Console data

SEO Scout uses your own Search Console data and its own crawler to find pages with poor click-through, keywords missing from your copy, cannibalization and weak internal links, and it grades drafts against what ranks. But almost everything hangs on Search Console, there's no free plan and no backlink tool on record, and split testing is only on the $199 plan.

ToolGPA report cardSEO ScoutGraded Oct 23, 2026
SubjectGradeComment
Value for moneyCStarter is $49 a month, or $490 a year, for 3 sites and unlimited tracked keywords. Dead on this category's middle. Split testing needs Agency at $199.
Free plan and trialCNo free plan, but a 7-day trial on every plan and a set of free single-purpose tools.
FeaturesCSearch Console tracking, keyword opportunities, a content grader, internal link and cannibalization checks, and audits. The gaps the listing names: it leans on Search Console for your own sites, split testing is Agency only, and there's no backlink tool on record.
Ease of useCNo rating on record. Not much happens until you connect Search Console, and then there are plenty of reports to work through.
Platforms and integrationsCWeb only, and Google Search Console is the one integration the site names. No API on record, and no desktop or phone app.
Grade point averageFair, out of 4.02.0

An A is worth 4 points, a B 3, a C 2, a D 1 and an F nothing. The GPA is the average of the five.

  • Too light for link builders, with no backlink tool on record
  • Not for you if you want a free plan, as there's only a 7-day trial and some single-purpose tools
  • Watch out: Search Console is the only integration named, and there's no API on record

What paid plans start at, a month (each step along is roughly double) →

Keep it, or make your own?

Whether this is something you could build for yourself with an AI app builder, and what you would give up.

Keep it

To replace SEO Scout you would be making search volumes for millions of keywords, gathered and kept up to date. That is not a weekend's work, with an AI app builder or without one.

That makes this kind of software worth paying for, not this one in particular: 45 of the 64 other SEO tools grade higher. It costs $588 a year.

What you could make

  • Internal linking: an app builder makes this well.

What you could not

  • Search volumes for millions of keywords, gathered and kept up to date.
  • Daily checks of where your pages rank in search results.
  • A score built from what the top results for each keyword cover.
  • Splitting visitors between versions and telling you which won.
  • A crawler that checks every page of a site.

What this rests on. SEO Scout’s listing: what it does, where it runs, what it plugs into and what it costs. It is a judgement about the kind of software this is. We have not built a replacement for it, and making your own means looking after it too. How we decide, and every tool’s verdict.
