Part 01 · Overview
Welcome
What it is, who it suits, its grades and the ten things to know first
2.2
GPA, above 4 of the 48 other CRM tools we grade
Streak is a CRM that runs inside Gmail through a browser extension for Chrome, Safari and Edge. Sales deals, hiring and other processes are tracked as pipelines next to the inbox, and email history is logged and shared across the team automatically. A free plan covers email tools such as tracking and mail merge, while CRM pipelines need a paid plan priced per user.
To get you started, here are 9 things to know about Streak, taken from its own pages and our grades.
No rating on record, but there's nothing new to learn: you add an extension and the pipelines appear in the inbox you already use all day.
- 1
Best for running a pipeline without leaving Gmail
Streak puts CRM pipelines inside Gmail, with each deal's emails shared across the team without forwarding.
- 2
Paid plans start at $49 a month for each person
As its pricing page puts it: $49 per user / month, billed annually ($59 billed monthly).
- 3
There is a free plan
Email tools inside Gmail, with email and link tracking, snippets, 50 mail merge sends a day, Streak Share and thread splitter. It does not include CRM pipelines.
- 4
It runs on 2 platforms
iOS and Android, with a browser extension too.
- 5
Pipelines inside Gmail
Deals, candidates or leads are tracked in private or shared pipelines that sit in the Gmail inbox, with custom fields and saved filters. Paid plans put no limit on records.
- 6
Automatic email sharing
Emails are attached to each deal, contact and company and shared across the team, so everyone sees the full history without forwarding threads.
- 7
AI Co-Pilot
AI credits pay for deal summaries, questions answered from a deal's history, autofilled fields and meeting agendas. Plans include 20, 150 or 500 credits per user a month.
- 8
A 2.2 GPA, above 4 of 48
That is against the other CRM tools we grade, on value, the free plan, features, ease of use and platforms.
- 9
Keep it
To replace Streak you would be making connections to other products, each kept working as those products change. That is not a weekend's work, with an AI app builder or without one.

The report card
Best for running a pipeline without leaving Gmail
Streak puts CRM pipelines inside Gmail, with each deal's emails shared across the team without forwarding. It works with Gmail and nothing else. The free plan is email tools only, with no pipelines, the CRM starts at $49 a user, about double what most ask, and automations, integrations and reports need Pro+ at $69.
| Subject | Grade | Comment |
|---|---|---|
| Value for money | D | The CRM part starts at $49 a user a month on yearly billing, double the $24 middle for this category, and $59 if you pay monthly. Automations, Zapier, direct integrations and advanced reports need Pro+ at $69. Everyone must be on the same plan, with no cheaper view-only seat. |
| Free plan and trial | C | The free plan never runs out, but it's the email tools only: open and link tracking, snippets and 50 mail merge sends a day. No CRM pipelines on it at all, which is the thing you came for. To see those you get a 14-day trial of Pro+. |
| Features | C | Private and shared pipelines in the inbox with custom fields, email history shared across the team without forwarding, mail merge, and AI that sums up a deal. It covers that inbox job, and it's a narrow one: Gmail only, no Outlook, and automations and reports wait for Pro+. |
| Ease of use | B | No rating on record, but there's nothing new to learn: you add an extension and the pipelines appear in the inbox you already use all day. One snag, which the listing admits: account setup has to be finished in a desktop browser, not on the phone. |
| Platforms and integrations | B | A browser extension for Chrome, Safari and Edge, plus iPhone, iPad and Android apps, so computer and phone are covered. It connects to Google Calendar, Drive and Sheets, Slack, Calendly and Zapier, with API webhooks on Pro+. It's Gmail or nothing, mind. |
An A is worth 4 points, a B 3, a C 2, a D 1 and an F nothing. The GPA is the average of the five.
Who Streak is for
- Fits if you're in Gmail all day and want your deals in the same window
- Works for pipelines that aren't sales at all, like hiring, fundraising or partnerships
Who it is not for
- Skip it if your email isn't Gmail, because Streak works with nothing else
- Pricey if you want the CRM itself, which starts on Pro at $49 a user, $59 billed monthly
- Tight if some of the team only need to look, as everyone must be on the same plan with no view-only seat
- Pricey if you need automations, Zapier or advanced reports, which need Pro+ at $69 a user
- Watch out: the extension runs only in Chrome, Safari and Edge, and setup has to be done in a desktop browser
Good to know
Good for
- Teams that work in Gmail all day and want the CRM in the inbox
- Tracking non-sales processes such as hiring, fundraising or partnerships
- Individuals who only need free email tracking and mail merge
Worth knowing
- The free plan has no CRM pipelines; those start with Pro at $49 per user / month billed annually.
- Streak works only with Gmail, and the desktop extension supports Chrome, Safari and Edge but no other browsers.
- Automations, Zapier, direct integrations and advanced reports need Pro+.
- Everyone on a team must be on the same plan, and there is no cheaper view-only seat.

Keep it, or make your own?
Whether this is something you could build for yourself with an AI app builder, and what you would give up.
Keep it
To replace Streak you would be making connections to other products, each kept working as those products change. That is not a weekend's work, with an AI app builder or without one.
That makes this kind of software worth paying for, not this one in particular: 30 of the 48 other CRM tools grade higher. It costs $588 a year.
What you could make
- Sales pipeline, tasks and reports: an app builder makes these well.
What you could not
- Connections to other products, each kept working as those products change.
- A real app for iOS and Android. Something home-made would be a web page.
- It is priced for each person, which means accounts and billing for a team.
- AI features, unless you pay a model provider for each request yourself.
What this rests on. Streak’s listing: what it does, where it runs, what it plugs into and what it costs. It is a judgement about the kind of software this is. We have not built a replacement for it, and making your own means looking after it too. How we decide, and every tool’s verdict.
