Part 01 · Overview

Welcome

What it is, who it suits, its grades and the ten things to know first

2.4

GPA, above 13 of the 51 other docs and wiki tools we grade

Superhuman Docs, known as Coda until July 2026, is a document workspace where pages mix text with connected tables, formulas, buttons and automations. Teams use it for shared docs, project trackers, knowledge hubs and internal workflows. Billing counts only Doc Makers, the people who create docs; editors and viewers are free.

To get you started, here are 9 things to know about Superhuman Docs, taken from its own pages and our grades.

Signing up is free and everything opens in the browser.
From our grade for ease of use

As its pricing page puts it: $12 per Doc Maker / month, billed annually ($15 billed monthly).

Pages combine text with connected tables, views, formulas and buttons, so a single doc can hold a brief, a tracker and a dashboard that draw on the same data.

  6. 6

    Docs AI

A built-in assistant that drafts pages and builds trackers, tables and dashboards from a prompt. In beta: paid plans get fair-use access and the Free plan a limited number of trials.

More than 800 integrations sync data in both directions with tools such as Jira, Salesforce and Asana. Refresh is manual on Free, daily on Pro and hourly on Business and Enterprise.

The report card

Best for docs that double as trackers and small tools

Superhuman Docs is Coda with a new name: pages where text sits next to tables, formulas, buttons and automations. Only Doc Makers pay, from $12 a month each on annual billing, with editors and viewers free. Free keeps 7 days of history and limits shared docs, and unlimited automations, doc locking and databases wait on Business at $33, with SSO on Enterprise only.

SubjectGradeComment
Value for moneyCPro is $12 per Doc Maker a month billed annually, or $15 monthly, which is the broad middle band here. Only the people who create docs are counted, with editors and viewers free. Business is a jump to $33, and that's where unlimited automations live.
Free plan and trialCThe free plan has collaborative docs with connected tables, views, forms and formulas, but you'll meet the caps: pages and objects are limited once a doc is shared, version history is 7 days, automations are low-quota, and Docs AI and MCP are limited trials only.
FeaturesBIt covers the whole job with no gap in the listing: text beside connected tables, views, formulas, buttons, forms and automations in one doc, 800-plus integrations syncing both ways with Jira, Salesforce and Asana, and Docs AI building trackers from a prompt. Notion does much the same, mind.
Ease of useCNo app rating on record, and formulas, buttons and automations are a builder's kit: there's more to learn here than in a plain wiki, and more to go wrong. Signing up is free and everything opens in the browser.
Platforms and integrationsBWeb, iPhone and Android, with 800-plus integrations including Slack, Jira, Salesforce and Figma, and an MCP server so ChatGPT, Claude and Cursor can read from and write to docs. No desktop app is listed.
Grade point averageFair, out of 4.02.4

An A is worth 4 points, a B 3, a C 2, a D 1 and an F nothing. The GPA is the average of the five.

Who Superhuman Docs is for

  • Fits if you have a few people building docs and many reading them, since editors and viewers aren't billed
  • Works for a doc that has to be the brief, the tracker and the dashboard at once

Who it is not for

  • Skip it if you only want a simple wiki, as tables, formulas and buttons are more than you need
  • Pricey if you need unlimited automations, databases or doc locking, which start on Business at $33 per Doc Maker
  • Tight if you're staying free, with 7-day version history, limits on pages in shared docs and only trials of Docs AI and MCP
  • Watch out: Grammarly on Pro comes with annual billing only, and SAML SSO and SCIM are Enterprise only
  • Not for you if you want a desktop app, as it runs on the web, iPhone and Android only

Good to know

Good for

  • Teams that want documents, trackers and lightweight internal tools in one doc
  • Workspaces with a few builders and many editors, since editors are not billed
  • Organizations already using Superhuman Mail, Go or Grammarly

Worth knowing

  • Formerly Coda: the product was renamed Superhuman Docs in July 2026, and existing Coda docs carried over automatically.
  • The Free plan limits pages and objects in shared docs, keeps 7 days of version history and gives only trial access to Docs AI and MCP.
  • Databases, unlimited automations, doc and page locking and Superhuman Mail start at Business, $33 per Doc Maker / month billed annually.
  • On Pro, Grammarly is included with annual billing only. SAML SSO and SCIM provisioning are limited to Enterprise.

Keep it, or make your own?

Whether this is something you could build for yourself with an AI app builder, and what you would give up.

Keep it

To replace Superhuman Docs you would be making connections to other products, each kept working as those products change. That is not a weekend's work, with an AI app builder or without one.

That makes this kind of software worth paying for, not this one in particular: 27 of the 51 other docs and wiki tools grade higher. It costs $144 a year.

What you could make

  • Documents, wiki and forms: an app builder makes these well.

What you could not

  • Connections to other products, each kept working as those products change.
  • Databases with views, filters and links between them.
  • A real app for iOS and Android. Something home-made would be a web page.
  • Several people working in it at the same moment.
  • AI features, unless you pay a model provider for each request yourself.
  • The depth: we grade its features B, which means it covers the whole job.

What this rests on. Superhuman Docs’s listing: what it does, where it runs, what it plugs into and what it costs. It is a judgement about the kind of software this is. We have not built a replacement for it, and making your own means looking after it too. How we decide, and every tool’s verdict.
