Part 01 · Overview
Welcome
What it is, who it suits, its grades and the ten things to know first
3.0
GPA, above 6 of the 11 other event ticketing platforms we grade
Ticket Tailor is an online box office for selling tickets to one-off, recurring and seated events, with a free check-in app for the door. It charges no subscription and no percentage of the ticket price: organizers pay a flat fee per paid ticket, either as they sell or through cheaper prepaid credits, and free events cost nothing up to 5,000 tickets a year. Payments go straight to the organizer's Stripe, PayPal or Square account.
To get you started, here are 8 things to know about Ticket Tailor, taken from its own pages and our grades.
- 1
Best for a flat fee per ticket instead of a percentage
Ticket Tailor charges a flat fee per ticket rather than a cut of the price, so a dear ticket costs you no more than a cheap one.
- 2
It is free
Ticket Tailor has no paid plan at all. No subscription. Free tickets cost nothing up to 5,000 a year; paid tickets cost $0.85 each as you sell, or from $0.30 each with prepaid credits, plus VAT and card processing.
- 3
It runs on 3 platforms
Web, iOS and Android.
- 4
Box office and event pages
Branded event pages with themes, colors and layouts, checkout embedded on your own site, password-protected private events and a cart that covers several events.
- 5
Reserved seating
Build seating charts for theaters, stadiums or dinner layouts so buyers choose their own seats; each seat reserved costs one extra credit.
- 6
Check-in app with Tap to Pay
The free iOS and Android app scans ticket QR codes with the phone camera or an external scanner, works without signal, and takes card sales at the door.
- 7
A 3.0 GPA, above 6 of 11
That is against the other event ticketing platforms we grade, on value, the free plan, features, ease of use and platforms.
- 8
Keep it
Ticket Tailor is free, so making your own would save you nothing.

The report card
Best for a flat fee per ticket instead of a percentage
Ticket Tailor charges a flat fee per ticket rather than a cut of the price, so a dear ticket costs you no more than a cheap one. There's no subscription, free events are free up to 5,000 tickets a year, and the money goes straight to your own Stripe, PayPal or Square account. You do need one of those accounts, and removing the branding costs $49 a month.
| Subject | Grade | Comment |
|---|---|---|
| Value for money | B | $0.85 a ticket as you sell, so 200 tickets at $20 is $170 a month plus VAT, and prepaid credits from $0.30 a ticket bring that down. You pay it unless you pass it on as a booking fee. Card processing through your own Stripe, PayPal or Square isn't counted. Among the cheaper ones here. |
| Free plan and trial | A | No subscription and nothing to pay until you sell a paid ticket, and your first five are free. Free events cost nothing up to 5,000 tickets a year, a cap few people will reach, though seated free tickets still use a credit each. |
| Features | B | Event pages, embedded checkout, reserved seating, timed and recurring slots, memberships, gift vouchers, waitlists and a check-in app that works offline and takes Tap to Pay. It covers selling, the door and getting paid, since the money lands in your own account. |
| Ease of use | C | No App Store rating on record. You connect your own Stripe, PayPal or Square account before you can take money, then build your event pages, so there's a bit to set up first. |
| Platforms and integrations | B | Web, iPhone and Android, with Mailchimp, HubSpot, Zapier, WordPress, a public API and an MCP connector for AI assistants. No desktop app, which an A needs. |
An A is worth 4 points, a B 3, a C 2, a D 1 and an F nothing. The GPA is the average of the five.
Who Ticket Tailor is for
- Great if you sell pricier tickets and want a flat fee rather than a percentage
- Handy when you run a venue or attraction with timed or recurring entry
- Good for registered charities, which get half off the fees
Who it is not for
- Skip it if you don't want to open a Stripe, PayPal or Square account
- Pricey if you want your own branding, as white label costs $49 a month
- Tight if you sell lots of seated tickets, as each reserved seat uses an extra credit
Good to know
Good for
- Organizers who want a flat per-ticket fee instead of a percentage
- Venues and attractions selling timed or recurring entry
- Charities and free events, which pay little or nothing
Worth knowing
- Paid tickets cost $0.85 each as you sell or from $0.30 with prepaid credits, plus VAT and processing (2.9% + $0.30 with Stripe in the US); organizers may pass fees to buyers.
- Reserved seats use an extra credit each, and tickets issued through the API or imported are charged even when free.
- Removing Ticket Tailor branding (white label) costs $49 a month and a custom domain alone $8; HubSpot, ActiveCampaign and Constant Contact links carry a monthly fee.
- You need your own Stripe, PayPal or Square account to take payments; Ticket Tailor never holds the ticket money.

Keep it, or make your own?
Whether this is something you could build for yourself with an AI app builder, and what you would give up.
Keep it
Ticket Tailor is free, so making your own would save you nothing.
And it is not the kind of software a weekend replaces.
What you could make
- Reports: an app builder makes this well.
What you could not
- Newsletters sent to thousands of people that still reach the inbox.
- Selling tickets and checking them at the door.
- A real app for iOS and Android. Something home-made would be a web page.
- It plugs into other products, Stripe, PayPal and Square among them, and has an API.
- The depth: we grade its features B, which means it covers the whole job.
What this rests on. Ticket Tailor’s listing: what it does, where it runs, what it plugs into and what it costs. It is a judgement about the kind of software this is. We have not built a replacement for it, and making your own means looking after it too. How we decide, and every tool’s verdict.
