Part 01 · Overview
Welcome
What it is, who it suits, its grades and the ten things to know first
2.8
GPA, above 92 of the 123 other to-do list apps we grade
ToDo: Simple ToDo List is a free app by the individual developer enoiu that keeps one to-do list and a separate Done list. Items are added with a plus button, then checked off, edited, searched and reordered by long press, and the look can be changed with a dark mode and theme colors. Both store listings describe it as free with no ads, and the developer declares that the app collects no data.
To get you started, here are 8 things to know about ToDo: Simple ToDo List, taken from its own pages and our grades.
A few settings choose what a tap does and whether new items land at the top or the bottom.
- 1
Best for one plain checklist and nothing else
It's phones and tablets only, in English and Japanese.
- 2
It is free
ToDo: Simple ToDo List has no paid plan at all. The whole app is free with no ads, and neither the App Store nor the Google Play listing shows any in-app purchases.
- 3
It runs on 2 platforms
iOS and Android.
- 4
Separate ToDo and Done lists
Open items and completed items are kept in separate ToDo and Done lists, and a trash button at the top of the Done list deletes every completed item at once.
- 5
Add, edit and reorder
Items are added with the plus button and edited or deleted from a menu icon beside each one. A long press reorders the list, and reordering can be switched off.
- 6
Search
A search function, added in version 2.1.1 according to the App Store version history, finds items in the list.
- 7
A 2.8 GPA, above 92 of 123
That is against the other to-do list apps we grade, on value, the free plan, features, ease of use and platforms.

The report card
Best for one plain checklist and nothing else
ToDo: Simple ToDo List is one to-do list, one Done list and a plus button, free with no ads or in-app purchases, and the developer declares it collects no data. But there are no due dates, reminders, subtasks or second lists, no sync, and moving phones means a manual backup file that overwrites what's there when restored. It's phones and tablets only, in English and Japanese.
| Subject | Grade | Comment |
|---|---|---|
| Value for money | A | Free, with no ads, and neither the App Store nor the Google Play listing shows any in-app purchases. An app anyone can download and run with nothing to buy is the top of this ladder. |
| Free plan and trial | A | The complete app is free on iPhone, iPad and Android, with no ads and no paid tier. What you see is all there is, and all of it costs nothing. No cap to run into. |
| Features | D | One ToDo list, one Done list, search, long-press reordering and a ZIP backup. That's the whole app. The developer's feature list mentions no due dates, reminders, subtasks or sharing, so this is one narrow function, a single checklist, with none of the rest of the job around it. |
| Ease of use | B | Press plus, type, tick. A few settings choose what a tap does and whether new items land at the top or the bottom. Nothing to set up and nothing to learn. There's no rating on record to go by, though, so it stops at a B. |
| Platforms and integrations | C | iPhone, iPad and Android, so phones and tablets only. There's no Mac, Windows or web version and no integrations. No sync is described either: moving between devices means the manual ZIP backup, and restoring overwrites what's there. |
An A is worth 4 points, a B 3, a C 2, a D 1 and an F nothing. The GPA is the average of the five.
Who ToDo: Simple ToDo List is for
- Fits if you want one plain checklist and nothing more
- Works for people avoiding ads, accounts and in-app purchases, since the developer declares no data collected
Who it is not for
- Too light for anyone who needs due dates, reminders or subtasks, as it mentions none of them
- Skip it if you want the same list on two devices, because no sync is described
- Not for you if you keep separate lists for work and home, since there's a single ToDo list
- Watch out: restoring the ZIP backup overwrites whatever is already in the app
- Not for you if you want it on a computer, or in a language besides English and Japanese
Good to know
Good for
- People who want one plain checklist and nothing more
- Anyone avoiding ads, accounts and in-app purchases
- Users who prefer an app that declares it collects no data
Worth knowing
- The developer's feature list covers a single ToDo list and a Done list; it mentions no due dates, reminders, subtasks or sharing.
- No sync or account is described: moving data between devices relies on the manual ZIP backup and restore, and restoring overwrites existing data.
- It is for phones and tablets: the store listings cover iPhone, iPad and Android, with no Mac, Windows or web version.
- The App Store listing gives English and Japanese as the only languages.
