Part 01 · Overview

Welcome

What it is, who it suits, its grades and the ten things to know first

2.2

GPA, above 3 of the 14 other affiliate and referral tools we grade

Tolt is affiliate and referral software built for SaaS startups, tracking subscriptions billed through Stripe, Paddle or Chargebee and stopping or clawing back commissions when customers cancel or get refunds. Affiliates use a branded portal on your own domain, and you pay them by exporting to PayPal or Wise or by switching on Tolt's auto payouts. Plans are priced by how much revenue affiliates bring in each month.

To get you started, here are 9 things to know about Tolt, taken from its own pages and our grades.

Anything outside those three billing systems isn't tracked yet, though, and paying affiliates by hand on Basic gets old fast.

The report card

Best for a branded affiliate portal for SaaS startups

Tolt is affiliate software for SaaS startups billing through Stripe, Paddle or Chargebee, and even its $69 Basic plan puts a branded portal on your own domain. Commissions stop when a customer cancels and are taken back on refunds. Anything outside those three billing systems isn't tracked yet, though, and paying affiliates by hand on Basic gets old fast.

ToolGPA report cardToltGraded Oct 18, 2026
SubjectGradeComment
Value for moneyCGraded on $5,000 a month of affiliate sales: Basic is $69 a month for up to $10,000, with no cut of sales and no yearly price. That's an ordinary price here, a little above Rewardful or FirstPromoter on yearly billing. Auto payouts start on Growth at $99, with a 2% fee.
Free plan and trialCNo free plan, but a 14-day free trial on every plan with no credit card. There's also a full refund within 30 days of paying.
FeaturesCStripe, Paddle and Chargebee tracking, a branded portal, custom commissions, double-sided coupons, and tax forms from Growth up. But its own FAQ says Shopify and other integrations are still being worked on, and Basic pays affiliates by hand.
Ease of useCNo rating on record. You link it to your billing on the client or server side, then sort out the portal, programs and commissions. Ordinary setup for this kind of tool.
Platforms and integrationsBWeb, with Stripe, Paddle and Chargebee for billing and PayPal, Wise and Payoneer for payouts. No API or Zapier on record and no desktop or phone app, so it's a thin B.
Grade point averageFair, out of 4.02.2

An A is worth 4 points, a B 3, a C 2, a D 1 and an F nothing. The GPA is the average of the five.

Who Tolt is for

  • Great if you're a SaaS startup billing through Stripe, Paddle or Chargebee
  • Handy when you want a branded portal on your own domain from the cheapest plan
  • Good for teams that want W-9s, W-8s and 1099s handled, from Growth up

Who it is not for

  • Skip it if you sell on Shopify, as Tolt says that integration is still being worked on
  • Tight if you have lots of affiliates on Basic, as payouts there are manual
  • Not for you if you like paying yearly for a discount, as no yearly price is listed

Good to know

Good for

  • SaaS startups billing subscriptions through Stripe, Paddle or Chargebee
  • Founders who want a branded affiliate portal on the cheapest plan
  • Teams that want affiliate payouts and tax forms handled for them

Worth knowing

  • Basic pays affiliates manually and keeps a powered-by link; auto payouts start on Growth and carry a 2% processing fee.
  • Plans are capped by affiliate revenue: Basic stops at $10,000 a month and Pro at $50,000, above which pricing is custom.
  • No yearly price is listed; Tolt offers a full refund within 30 days of paying.

Keep it, or make your own?

Whether this is something you could build for yourself with an AI app builder, and what you would give up.

Keep it

To replace Tolt you would be making payouts to partners in many countries, with their tax forms. That is not a weekend's work, with an AI app builder or without one.

That makes this kind of software worth paying for, not this one in particular: 7 of the 14 other affiliate and referral tools grade higher. It costs $828 a year.

What you could not

  • Payouts to partners in many countries, with their tax forms.
  • Every click and sale traced back to the right partner.
  • It plugs into other products, Stripe, Paddle and Chargebee among them.

What this rests on. Tolt’s listing: what it does, where it runs, what it plugs into and what it costs. It is a judgement about the kind of software this is. We have not built a replacement for it, and making your own means looking after it too. How we decide, and every tool’s verdict.
