The report card
Best for a phone line per person with a well-rated app
Vonage sells a line per person with unlimited domestic calls, business texts and a virtual receptionist, and its app scores 4.7 on the App Store. It's $17.99 a line for a team. But recording and voicemail transcripts wait for the top plan, and an annual contract is costly to leave early.
| Subject | Grade | Comment |
|---|---|---|
| Value for money | C | $17.99 a head for five on Mobile, the team price per line (one line alone is $19.99), plus taxes and fees. That's mid-range for this category. Video and integrations need Premium at $27.99, and recording needs Advanced at $37.99. |
| Free plan and trial | F | No free plan and no free trial on record. Monthly plans can be cancelled but aren't refunded. |
| Features | C | Calls, texts and a virtual receptionist on every plan, with video, team chat and CRM links from Premium. The gaps: recording comes only with Advanced, on demand and capped at 15 hours a month, and the listing shows no AI call transcripts. |
| Ease of use | A | 4.7 from about 21,900 App Store ratings. People seem to like the app a lot. |
| Platforms and integrations | A | Web, Mac, Windows, iPhone, Android and a Chrome extension, with Salesforce, HubSpot, Microsoft Teams, Dynamics, Slack and Clio in its App Center. |
An A is worth 4 points, a B 3, a C 2, a D 1 and an F nothing. The GPA is the average of the five.
Who Vonage Business Communications is for

- Handy when you work in Salesforce or Microsoft Teams and want calls there

Who it is not for
- Skip it if you might leave early, as ending an annual contract can cost up to the full term
- Pricey if you need call recording, which only comes with Advanced at $37.99 a line
