Part 01 · Overview

Welcome

What it is, who it suits, its grades and the ten things to know first

2.2

GPA, above 6 of the 123 other to-do list apps we grade

WeDo is a shared to-do list app for iPhone and Android aimed at families, couples and small teams, used for things like shopping lists and chores. Lists sync in real time across a group, people are invited by QR code or link, and tasks can carry due dates, recurring reminders and the members to notify. The app is free with ads; a Premium Family Plan adds extras such as widgets and pinned tasks, and a Pro Plan is required for the web version.

To get you started, here are 9 things to know about WeDo, taken from its own pages and our grades.

Sharing and reminders are free, but the free app carries ads.

The report card

Best for a shared list for couples and families

WeDo is a shared to-do list for couples, families and small teams, where an item added on one phone shows up on the others straight away. Sharing and reminders are free, but the free app carries ads. Widgets and pinned tasks need Premium Family at $5.99 a month, and the web version needs Pro at $9.49 a month, which is a lot to pay for a shared shopping list.

ToolGPA report cardWeDoGraded Oct 10, 2026
SubjectGradeComment
Value for moneyDPremium Family is $5.99 a month, or $49.99 a year, when this category usually starts around $3.99. Worse, the browser version sits on the Pro Plan at $9.49 a month or $94.99 a year, which is more than twice the middle price here for what is a shared shopping list.
Free plan and trialBThe useful part is free: shared lists that sync in real time, category tabs, notifications and reminders. One household could live on that. The trade is ads, which both store listings flag, and widgets, pinned tasks and pre-reminders are held back for Premium.
FeaturesCIt does the one thing: lists update for everyone the moment an item is ticked, members get notified, due dates repeat, and tabs like Groceries and Home can be private or shared. Beyond that it's thin, with no subtasks, projects or integrations on record, widgets held back for Premium and the web board for Pro.
Ease of useBSomeone joins by scanning a QR code or opening a link, and the site says the invited person doesn't need to sign up. Install it, make a list, invite your partner. No rating on record to go by.
Platforms and integrationsCiPhone and Android phones, plus a browser version if you pay for Pro. The App Store marks it as iPhone only, so no native iPad, Mac or Windows app, and the listing names no integrations and no API at all.
Grade point averageFair, out of 4.02.2

An A is worth 4 points, a B 3, a C 2, a D 1 and an F nothing. The GPA is the average of the five.

Who WeDo is for

  • Fits if you and your partner share a grocery list that has to update on both phones at once
  • Works for families who want a ping when someone adds or finishes a chore

Who it is not for

  • Pricey if you want it in a browser, as WeDo for Web needs the Pro Plan at $9.49 a month or $94.99 a year
  • Not for you if ads in a to-do app bother you, because the free app carries them
  • Watch out: widgets, pinned tasks, pre-reminders and several images on a task are Premium only, at $5.99 a month
  • Skip it if you want an iPad, Mac or Windows app, since the App Store marks it as iPhone only
  • Too light for real projects, with no subtasks, projects, integrations or API on record

Good to know

Good for

  • Couples and families sharing a grocery list or chores
  • Getting a push notification when a partner adds or completes a task
  • Small teams that want a shared board in the browser on the Pro Plan

Worth knowing

  • The free app contains ads, according to its App Store and Google Play listings.
  • Widgets, pinned tasks, pre-reminders and multiple images on a task are limited to Premium users.
  • WeDo for Web needs the Pro Plan, at $9.49 per month or $94.99 per year on the US App Store.
  • The App Store marks the app as only for iPhone, and there is no native iPad, Mac or Windows app.

Keep it, or make your own?

Whether this is something you could build for yourself with an AI app builder, and what you would give up.

Your call

A to-do list at its plainest is tasks with dates, repeats and a box to tick.

You could make the core of WeDo for yourself: tasks. What you would give up is listed below. Whether that is worth the price is your call. It costs $49.99 a year.

What you could make

  • Tasks: an app builder makes this well.

What you could not

  • A real app for iOS and Android. Something home-made would be a web page.
  • Several people working in it at the same moment.
  • Hooks into the device itself: widgets.

What this rests on. WeDo’s listing: what it does, where it runs, what it plugs into and what it costs. It is a judgement about the kind of software this is. We have not built a replacement for it, and making your own means looking after it too. How we decide, and every tool’s verdict.
