Part 01 · Overview
Welcome
What it is, who it suits, its grades and the ten things to know first
2.4
GPA, above 18 of the 74 other calendar and scheduling apps we grade
Zoho Bookings is appointment scheduling software in which customers pick a slot on a booking page and the meeting lands on the host's synced calendar. Teams organize event types into workspaces for branches or departments, assign bookings by round robin and automate follow-up with workflows. A free plan covers one user, the paid plans are priced per user, and Zoho One subscribers get the Premium plan as part of that suite.
To get you started, here are 9 things to know about Zoho Bookings, taken from its own pages and our grades.
Zia setting the account up for you takes some of the edge off.
- 1
Best for team booking on a small budget, more so with Zoho CRM
Zoho Bookings puts round robin, email workflows and reports on its $6 Basic plan, and it connects to Zoho CRM.
- 2
Paid plans start at $6 a month for each person
As its pricing page puts it: $6 per user / month, billed annually ($8 billed monthly).
- 3
There is a free plan
Forever Free plan: one user, online meetings, notification emails and reminders, and two-way calendar sync with Zoho, Google and Microsoft 365 or Outlook.com.
- 4
It runs on 3 platforms
Web, iOS and Android, with a browser extension too.
- 5
Event types and booking pages
Four event types: one-on-one, collective, group and resource-based. Share a booking link or embed a widget. Group, recurring and resource bookings need Premium.
- 6
Workspaces
Workspaces group event types by location or department. Basic is limited to one; Premium includes three, with more sold as add-ons.
- 7
Round robin and routing forms
Both paid plans distribute appointments across users with a choice of four methods. Premium adds routing forms that send a customer to the right booking page.
- 8
A 2.4 GPA, above 18 of 74
That is against the other calendar and scheduling apps we grade, on value, the free plan, features, ease of use and platforms.
- 9
Keep it
To replace Zoho Bookings you would be making connections to other products, each kept working as those products change. That is not a weekend's work, with an AI app builder or without one.

The report card
Best for team booking on a small budget, more so with Zoho CRM
Zoho Bookings puts round robin, email workflows and reports on its $6 Basic plan, and it connects to Zoho CRM. But Free is one user only, payments, group bookings, SMS reminders and a custom domain all wait on Premium at $9 a user, Basic has one workspace, and bookable resources and extra workspaces are paid add-ons on top.
| Subject | Grade | Comment |
|---|---|---|
| Value for money | C | Basic is $6 a user a month billed annually, $8 monthly, which is exactly the middle of what calendar tools charge. It does include round robin, collective bookings, email workflows, reports and Zoho CRM sync. Payments, routing forms and a custom domain mean Premium at $9. |
| Free plan and trial | C | The Forever Free plan covers one user, with online meetings, notification emails and reminders, and two-way sync with Zoho, Google and Microsoft calendars. One user is a hard cap, so the second person you hire ends it. The 15-day Premium trial needs no card. |
| Features | B | One-on-one, collective, group and resource bookings, workspaces for branches or departments, round robin with four methods, routing forms, and workflows you can script yourself. Zia can build a booking page from your web address. That covers the job, though resources and extra workspaces are paid add-ons. |
| Ease of use | C | No rating on record, and this is a product with workspaces, four event types, four round-robin methods and a script builder to get your head round. Zia setting the account up for you takes some of the edge off. |
| Platforms and integrations | B | Web, iPhone and Android apps and a browser extension, but no desktop app. It syncs Google and Microsoft 365 calendars, works with Zoom, Teams, Stripe, PayPal, Zoho CRM and Zapier, and has an MCP server so outside AI assistants can manage appointments. |
An A is worth 4 points, a B 3, a C 2, a D 1 and an F nothing. The GPA is the average of the five.

Keep it, or make your own?
Whether this is something you could build for yourself with an AI app builder, and what you would give up.
Keep it
To replace Zoho Bookings you would be making connections to other products, each kept working as those products change. That is not a weekend's work, with an AI app builder or without one.
That makes this kind of software worth paying for, not this one in particular: 45 of the 74 other calendar and scheduling apps grade higher. It costs $72 a year.
What you could make
- Reports: an app builder makes this well.
What you could not
- Connections to other products, each kept working as those products change.
- Booking pages that read and write other people's calendars and send the emails.
- A real app for iOS and Android. Something home-made would be a web page.
- It is priced for each person, which means accounts and billing for a team.
- AI features, unless you pay a model provider for each request yourself.
- Hooks into the device itself: widgets.
- The depth: we grade its features B, which means it covers the whole job.
What this rests on. Zoho Bookings’s listing: what it does, where it runs, what it plugs into and what it costs. It is a judgement about the kind of software this is. We have not built a replacement for it, and making your own means looking after it too. How we decide, and every tool’s verdict.
