Alexa+ is the generative AI version of Amazon's Alexa assistant. It holds a conversation by voice or text, controls smart home devices, keeps lists and reminders, and can book or order through connected services such as OpenTable and Uber. A chat started on an Echo or Fire TV can continue in the Alexa app or in a browser at Alexa.com. A limited version is free, and full access comes with an Amazon Prime membership or a separate monthly plan.

Best for a voice assistant for a home full of Echo devices

Alexa+ is Amazon's rebuilt Alexa: it keeps the thread of a conversation, runs the lights and thermostat, and books an Uber or a table through connected services. It comes with Prime. But the free version is capped daily by an unstated limit and doesn't work on an Echo, the standalone plan costs more than Prime, older Echoes stay on the old Alexa, and outside the US and Canada it's early access in eight countries only.
