Part 01 · Overview
Welcome
What it is, who it suits, its grades and the ten things to know first
2.8
GPA, above 48 of the 69 other daily planner apps we grade
Blocos is a time-blocking app that lays each day out as 144 ten-minute blocks. You select blocks and assign activities to them, either to plan ahead or to log what you did, and can then compare the plan with what actually happened. Templates, Pomodoro and Flow timers, per-activity to-do lists and notes are built in, and Google Calendar events can be turned into blocks. It runs on iPhone, iPad, Android and the web. The free plan caps activities and templates, and Premium removes the limits.
To get you started, here are 9 things to know about Blocos, taken from its own pages and our grades.
- 1
Best for planning the day in ten-minute blocks
There's no Mac or Windows app, and the website shows no prices while the App Store lists two yearly amounts with no explanation.
- 2
Paid plans start at $1.67 a month when paid by the year
As its pricing page puts it: $5.99 per month, or $19.99 to $49.99 per year (US App Store).
- 3
There is a free plan
Free plan with the full 144-block planner, weekly reports, widgets, notes, Google Calendar sync and web access. Limited to 8 activities, 5 tasks per activity, 3 templates and 3 months of analytics.
- 4
It runs on 3 platforms
Web, iOS and Android.
- 5
Blocks Planner
The day is shown as 144 ten-minute blocks. Selecting blocks and assigning an activity plans or logs that time, and Google Calendar events can be converted into blocks.
- 6
Templates and week planning
A day designed once can be saved as a template and applied to other days, and activities can be scheduled in bulk across a week.
- 7
Pomodoro and Flow timers
Activity timers with adjustable focus and break lengths, alarms and notifications. Time measured by a timer is logged in the planner automatically.
- 8
A 2.8 GPA, above 48 of 69
That is against the other daily planner apps we grade, on value, the free plan, features, ease of use and platforms.

The report card
Best for planning the day in ten-minute blocks
Blocos chops your day into 144 ten-minute blocks and has you fill them in, either as a plan or as a record of what you really did, then compare the two. The free plan holds the whole planner, but stops at 8 activities, 5 tasks each and 3 months of stats. There's no Mac or Windows app, and the website shows no prices while the App Store lists two yearly amounts with no explanation.
| Subject | Grade | Comment |
|---|---|---|
| Value for money | C | Monthly is $5.99 on the US App Store, which is exactly the middle for planners here. A year is listed at $19.99, far less, except that a second yearly price of $49.99 sits beside it unexplained and the website shows no prices at all, so what you'd really pay isn't clear. |
| Free plan and trial | B | The full 144-block planner, weekly reports, widgets, notes, Google Calendar sync and the web app are free, which is a plan one person could stay on for good. The caps are 8 activities, 5 tasks in each, 3 templates and 3 months of analytics. |
| Features | B | Plan or log the day in ten-minute blocks, save a day as a template, run Pomodoro and Flow timers that log themselves, and see 90 days of stats with CSV export, with to-dos and notes on each activity. Planning and tracking both covered; Google Calendar is the only thing it connects to. |
| Ease of use | B | No rating on record, but the idea explains itself: you select blocks and assign an activity to them, and a day you've built once can be reused as a template. Nothing to connect before it works. |
| Platforms and integrations | B | iPhone, iPad, Android and a web app that syncs with the phone, but there's no native Mac or Windows app, so on a computer it's the browser. Google Calendar events can be turned into blocks, and that's the only integration. |
An A is worth 4 points, a B 3, a C 2, a D 1 and an F nothing. The GPA is the average of the five.
Who Blocos is for
- Fits if you want to see the whole day as a grid of short blocks
- Works for people who want to compare how they planned their time with how they spent it
Who it is not for
- Tight if you're staying free and track lots of things, since free stops at 8 activities, 5 tasks each and 3 templates
- Skip it if you want a native Mac or Windows app, as on a computer it's the web app
- Not for you if you like a clear price: the website shows none, and the App Store lists $19.99 and $49.99 a year unexplained
- Watch out: free keeps 3 months of analytics, and Focus Seasons needs Premium
- Too light for linking to other tools, as Google Calendar is the only integration
Good to know
Good for
- People who want to see the whole day as a grid of short blocks
- Comparing how time was planned with how it was actually spent
- People with ADHD who want to see time laid out visually
Worth knowing
- The free plan is capped at 8 activities, 5 tasks per activity, 3 templates, one timer per activity and 3 months of analytics history.
- The website shows no prices and says plans depend on location and currency. The US App Store lists two yearly amounts, $19.99 and $49.99, without explaining them.
- Focus Seasons needs Premium, and subscriptions are managed through the App Store or Google Play.
- There is no separate Mac or Windows app. On a computer Blocos is used through the web app, which syncs with the phone app.

Keep it, or make your own?
Whether this is something you could build for yourself with an AI app builder, and what you would give up.
Your call
A daily planner at its plainest is today's tasks laid along a timeline.
You could make the core of Blocos for yourself: time blocking, time tracking, Pomodoro timer, tasks, templates and goals. What you would give up is listed below. Whether that is worth the price is your call. At $19.99 a year it costs less than the weekend it would take to replace, which is the argument for keeping it.
What you could make
- Time blocking, time tracking, Pomodoro timer, tasks, templates and goals: an app builder makes these well.
What you could not
- A real app for iOS and Android. Something home-made would be a web page.
- The depth: we grade its features B, which means it covers the whole job.
What this rests on. Blocos’s listing: what it does, where it runs, what it plugs into and what it costs. It is a judgement about the kind of software this is. We have not built a replacement for it, and making your own means looking after it too. How we decide, and every tool’s verdict.
