Part 01 · Overview

Welcome

What it is, who it suits, its grades and the ten things to know first

2.2

GPA, above 3 of the 79 other project management tools we grade

BugHerd collects visual feedback and bug reports on websites: clients and teammates click any element on a page, leave a comment, and BugHerd files it as a task with a screenshot and technical details. Tasks land on a built-in kanban board or in tools such as Jira and Trello. It also takes feedback on Figma designs, PDFs and images, and is priced by team members, with unlimited client guests.

To get you started, here are 9 things to know about BugHerd, taken from its own pages and our grades.

  1. 1

Best for collecting client feedback on websites

No more "the button looks weird" emails with nothing else to go on.

  2. 2

Paid plans start at $42 a month

As its pricing page puts it: $42 per month for up to 5 members, billed yearly ($50 billed monthly).

  3. 3

    You can try it first

7-day free trial, no credit card required

  4. 4

    It runs on Web

Web, with a browser extension too.

  5. 5

    Click-to-comment website feedback

Clients click an element on a live page and leave a comment; BugHerd attaches a screenshot plus the browser, operating system and screen size.

  6. 6

    Designs, PDFs and text edits

Feedback can also go on Figma designs, PDFs and images, and reviewers can highlight text on a page to suggest new wording.

  7. 7

    Video feedback

Record a video of an issue and share it as feedback, from Standard up. A public widget can also gather feedback from site visitors.

  8. 8

    A 2.2 GPA, above 3 of 79

That is against the other project management tools we grade, on value, the free plan, features, ease of use and platforms.

  9. 9

    Keep it

The plain part of BugHerd you could make: issue tracking and kanban boards. What surrounds it you could not. The 3 things listed below take a company, not a weekend.

The report card

Best for collecting client feedback on websites

BugHerd lets clients click the bit of a web page they don't like and type what's wrong, and it files a task with a screenshot and their browser details attached. No more "the button looks weird" emails with nothing else to go on. It's priced for a team, though, from $42 a month billed yearly, and there's no free plan.

ToolGPA report cardBugHerdGraded Oct 18, 2026
SubjectGradeComment
Value for moneyCGraded against its own alternatives. Standard is $42 a month billed yearly ($50 monthly) for up to 5 members; split five ways that's about what Jira or Linear charge a seat, with clients commenting free. One person pays the full $42, and Jira and Asana links need Premium at $125.
Free plan and trialCA 7-day free trial with no credit card needed, enough to run one round of client feedback on a real site. There's no free plan after that.
FeaturesCIt does visual feedback fully: click-to-comment on live pages with screenshots and browser details, plus Figma designs, PDFs, text edits and video, all landing on a kanban board. That's a much smaller job than running projects, though.
Ease of useCNo store rating on record. Clients just click and type, but first you add a script to each site or have reviewers install the extension, then set up projects and members.
Platforms and integrationsBWeb, with extensions for Chrome, Firefox, Edge and Safari, sending tasks to Trello, Slack, GitHub and Zapier on every plan and Jira, Asana, Linear and ClickUp on Premium. No phone apps.
Grade point averageFair, out of 4.02.2

An A is worth 4 points, a B 3, a C 2, a D 1 and an F nothing. The GPA is the average of the five.

Who BugHerd is for

  • Great if your web agency is drowning in vague client emails about what's broken
  • Handy when QA reports need the browser, operating system and screen size every time
  • Good for teams whose clients should comment for free without taking a seat

Who it is not for

  • Pricey if you're a freelancer on your own, as Standard is $42 a month for up to 5 members
  • Not for you if you want a project tool with timelines, as this only handles feedback
  • Tight if your developers live in Jira or Linear, since those links need Premium at $125 a month

Good to know

Good for

  • Web agencies collecting client feedback on sites before launch
  • QA and acceptance testing where reports need browser and device details
  • Teams whose clients and stakeholders comment as unlimited free guests

Worth knowing

  • There is no free plan: a 7-day trial, then Standard for 5 members. Extra members cost $8 a month each, or $80 a year on yearly plans.
  • Jira, Asana, Linear, ClickUp, Monday.com and Teamwork links need Premium, at $125 a month billed yearly.
  • Custom branding and the client task board start on Premium; single sign-on needs the sales-priced Custom plan.
  • Feedback is collected through a script on your site or a browser extension for Chrome, Firefox, Edge or Safari; there are no phone apps.

Keep it, or make your own?

Whether this is something you could build for yourself with an AI app builder, and what you would give up.

Keep it

The plain part of BugHerd you could make: issue tracking and kanban boards. What surrounds it you could not. The 3 things listed below take a company, not a weekend.

That makes this kind of software worth paying for, not this one in particular: 60 of the 79 other project management tools grade higher. It costs $504 a year.

What you could make

  • Issue tracking and kanban boards: an app builder makes these well.

What you could not

  • Capture tools hooked into the operating system.
  • It plugs into other products, Jira, Trello and Asana among them, and has an API.
  • Hooks into the device itself: widgets.

What this rests on. BugHerd’s listing: what it does, where it runs, what it plugs into and what it costs. It is a judgement about the kind of software this is. We have not built a replacement for it, and making your own means looking after it too. How we decide, and every tool’s verdict.
