How we grade them

Value for money
CGraded against its own alternatives. Standard is $42 a month billed yearly ($50 monthly) for up to 5 members; split five ways that's about what Jira or Linear charge a seat, with clients commenting free. One person pays the full $42, and Jira and Asana links need Premium at $125.
CBasic is $10 a person a month on yearly billing, the dear edge of this category rather than the middle, and it buys 5 teams and unlimited issues. The parts a growing company wants, private teams, guests, Insights and Asks, are on Business at $16, double what most tools here charge.
Free plan and trial
CA 7-day free trial with no credit card needed, enough to run one round of client feedback on a real site. There's no free plan after that.
CUnlimited members is genuinely rare, but 250 issues and 2 teams is a wall a busy team hits in weeks, and there is no trial of the paid plans on top. Treat free as a long look round rather than somewhere to settle.
Features
CIt does visual feedback fully: click-to-comment on live pages with screenshots and browser details, plus Figma designs, PDFs, text edits and video, all landing on a kanban board. That's a much smaller job than running projects, though.
BIssues, cycles, projects, initiatives, triage, list and board layouts, and Linear Agent on every plan including free. For a software team nothing is missing. For the rest of this category plenty is: no time tracking, no budgets, no resource planning, and Insights waits for Business.
Ease of use
CNo store rating on record. Clients just click and type, but first you add a script to each site or have reviewers install the extension, then set up projects and members.
A4.83 on the App Store from 2,179 ratings, which is about as high as this category gets. It is built around the shape engineering teams already work in, so there is little to learn, though the phone app is the thin part.
Platforms and integrations
BWeb, with extensions for Chrome, Firefox, Edge and Safari, sending tasks to Trello, Slack, GitHub and Zapier on every plan and Jira, Asana, Linear and ClickUp on Premium. No phone apps.
AWeb, Mac, Windows, iPhone and Android, with GitHub, GitLab, Slack, Figma, Sentry, Zendesk, Intercom and Notion on the integrations page and an API behind them. The gap is Linux: the download page has no app for it.

Key features

BugHerd

Click-to-comment website feedback
Clients click an element on a live page and leave a comment; BugHerd attaches a screenshot plus the browser, operating system and screen size.
Designs, PDFs and text edits
Feedback can also go on Figma designs, PDFs and images, and reviewers can highlight text on a page to suggest new wording.
Video feedback
Record a video of an issue and share it as feedback, from Standard up. A public widget can also gather feedback from site visitors.
Kanban task board
Each comment becomes a task on a built-in kanban board. Premium adds a client-facing board and comments only team members see.
Integrations
Sends tasks to Trello, Slack, GitHub, Zapier and others on every plan, and to Jira, Asana, Linear, ClickUp and Monday.com on Premium.
AI features and MCP
Beta AI writes task titles and connects BugHerd to AI tools through MCP; Premium adds auto-tagging and similar-task detection.

Linear

Issues and cycles
Every piece of work is tracked as an issue. Cycles are recurring, fixed-length periods that a team plans a set of issues into.
Projects and initiatives
Projects collect the issues behind one deliverable, and initiatives group several projects under a larger company objective.
List and board layouts
Nearly every issue view can switch between a list and a kanban-style board, with optional swimlanes for an extra grouping.
Triage and Asks
Triage is a review step for new work before a team takes it on. Linear Asks, on the Business plan, turns workplace requests into issues.
Insights
Built-in analytics for whichever set of work a team wants to examine. Linear Insights is part of the Business plan.
Linear Agent and coding agents
Linear Agent is included on every plan, and the integration directory lists coding agents such as Codex, Cursor and GitHub Copilot.
