Best for Apple users who'd rather buy once

OmniPlan is scheduling software for the Apple crowd: give it durations, dependencies and who's doing what, and it builds the schedule, levels the workload and shows the critical path. You can buy it once for $199.99, and one license covers Mac, iPad and iPhone. It's Apple only, though, and collaboration and Microsoft Project files need Pro, which costs double.
