Part 01 · Overview
Welcome
What it is, who it suits, its grades and the ten things to know first
1.8
GPA, above 0 of the 123 other to-do list apps we grade
Checkli is a web-based checklist maker aimed at organizations that repeat the same procedures, such as classroom closings, shift handoffs and inspections. A master checklist is started as a new run each time the work is done, so every run keeps its own checks, and a run can be handed to someone who has no account. The free plan holds two checklists; paid plans add unlimited checklists, guest links, reminders, team assignment and oversight of every run.
To get you started, here are 9 things to know about Checkli, taken from its own pages and our grades.
No rating on record, and the work here is writing the checklists before anyone can run one.
- 1
Best for checklists a team runs again and again
Reminders only email the owner, and there are no integrations.
- 2
Paid plans start at $29 a month
As its pricing page puts it: $29 per month.
- 3
There is a free plan
Up to 2 checklists with tasks, sections, folders, processes and a read-only share link. No credit card needed to begin.
- 4
It runs on Web
Web.
- 5
Master checklists and runs
Starting a process copies a checklist into a new run with every step unchecked. The original stays as the master, so each day's run keeps its own record.
- 6
Guest process links
On Pro, a run can be sent as a link that lets someone without an account check off the steps. Their checks are saved as completed by Guest.
- 7
Read-only links and collaborators
Any checklist has a read-only link for viewing. A collaborator invited by email has an account and can edit the checklist itself.
- 8
A 1.8 GPA, above 0 of 123
That is against the other to-do list apps we grade, on value, the free plan, features, ease of use and platforms.

The report card
Best for checklists a team runs again and again
Checkli is for repeat checklists like the closing-up list, the shift handoff or the weekly inspection: keep one master list, start a fresh run each time, and hand a run to someone with no account. But it's browser only, the free plan holds 2 checklists, Pro is $29 a month, and seeing who ticked what is Business at $99. Reminders only email the owner, and there are no integrations.
| Subject | Grade | Comment |
|---|---|---|
| Value for money | D | Pro is $29 a month. The dearest tenth of this category starts at $8.99, so that's deep into it, and the part a manager actually wants, one view of every run with who ticked each step, is Business at $99. The pricing page shows flat monthly prices and doesn't say whether they're per user. |
| Free plan and trial | C | Free with no card asked for, and you get sections, folders, process runs and a read-only link. But it holds 2 checklists. Closing and opening and you're done. |
| Features | C | It does repeat procedures: a master list, a fresh run each time, guest links, a template library, scheduled emails. But that's a narrower job than this category's, and reminders only email the owner, not whoever has to do the run. |
| Ease of use | C | No rating on record, and the work here is writing the checklists before anyone can run one. Nothing to install, and a guest can tick off a run from a link without signing up. |
| Platforms and integrations | C | Web only. No mobile or desktop app on the site, and the integrations list is empty: no API, no calendar, nothing. On a phone you're in a browser tab. |
An A is worth 4 points, a B 3, a C 2, a D 1 and an F nothing. The GPA is the average of the five.
Who Checkli is for
- Fits if your school, clinic or restaurant runs the same routine every day
- Works for managers who want a record that the closing checklist was finished, on Business
Who it is not for
- Pricey if you're one person with a few lists, at $29 a month for Pro
- Tight if you're staying free, since 2 checklists is the limit and guest links, reminders and export need Pro
- Not for you if you want a phone app, because it only runs in a browser
- Watch out: the pricing page doesn't say if prices are per user, and yearly prices show only on the in-app Billing page
- Skip it if the person doing the run needs the reminder, as reminders email only the checklist owner
Good to know
Good for
- Schools, clinics, restaurants and crews that repeat the same routine
- Handing a checklist to substitutes, vendors or contractors without accounts
- Managers who want to see that a recurring procedure was completed
Worth knowing
- The free plan stops at 2 checklists; guest process links, reminders, embeds and CSV or PDF export need Pro.
- The view of every run, completion emails and the record of who checked each step are limited to Business at $99 per month.
- The pricing page shows flat monthly prices without saying whether they are per user; yearly prices appear only on the in-app Billing page.
- Checkli runs in the browser, and the site lists no mobile or desktop apps. Reminders email only the checklist owner.

Keep it, or make your own?
Whether this is something you could build for yourself with an AI app builder, and what you would give up.
You could make this
A to-do list at its plainest is tasks with dates, repeats and a box to tick.
What Checkli does at its core is tasks and templates, and that is the kind of thing an AI app builder makes well. You would give up one thing, listed below, and little else. It costs $348 a year. An AI app builder starts at about $19 a month on our listings, and you only need it while you build.
What you could make
- Tasks and templates: an app builder makes these well.
- It runs in a browser, which is where something home-made would run too.
What you could not
- Sharing with other people, which means accounts and invitations.
What this rests on. Checkli’s listing: what it does, where it runs, what it plugs into and what it costs. It is a judgement about the kind of software this is. We have not built a replacement for it, and making your own means looking after it too. How we decide, and every tool’s verdict.
