Part 01 · Overview
Welcome
What it is, who it suits, its grades and the ten things to know first
1.8
GPA, above 0 of the 69 other daily planner apps we grade
Day Flow is an iPhone planner built around speaking instead of typing. You describe your day or week out loud and its AI assistant turns that into scheduled tasks, suggests times for them, and reschedules or extends plans from spoken requests. Events from Apple and Google calendars and items from Reminders can be imported so they appear alongside the plan. The app is free to download, and some features need the Day Flow Plus subscription or a one-time Lifetime purchase.
To get you started, here are 9 things to know about Day Flow, taken from its own pages and our grades.
- 1
Best for planning your day by talking to your iPhone
Tell it your day out loud and its AI turns that into a schedule, then say "move dinner to next Friday" and it does.
- 2
Paid plans start at $6.67 a month when paid by the year
As its pricing page puts it: $7.99 per week, $19.99 per month or $79.99 per year (US App Store).
- 3
There is a free plan
Free to download and use with limits. The listing says some features require Day Flow Plus but does not say which ones.
- 4
It runs on iOS
iOS.
- 5
Voice planning
Say what you need to do and the assistant builds a schedule for the day or the week from it, without typing each task.
- 6
Spoken changes
Plans can be changed by request in everyday phrasing, such as moving a dinner to next Friday, adding 10 minutes to a morning run or shifting several tasks to the weekend.
- 7
Calendar and Reminders import
Apple Calendar, Google Calendar and Apple Reminders can be imported so events and to-dos sit in one view. The 1.7.0 release notes describe Google Calendar as import-only.
- 8
A 1.8 GPA, above 0 of 69
That is against the other daily planner apps we grade, on value, the free plan, features, ease of use and platforms.
- 9
Keep it
The plain part of Day Flow you could make: natural-language input, calendar and tasks. What surrounds it you could not. The 4 things listed below take a company, not a weekend.

The report card
Best for planning your day by talking to your iPhone
Day Flow is a planner you talk to. Tell it your day out loud and its AI turns that into a schedule, then say "move dinner to next Friday" and it does. But it's iPhone only, nobody says which features are free, the app shows ads, Google Calendar is import-only, and the short terms are steep: $7.99 a week or $19.99 a month. Skip it if you're not on an iPhone.
| Subject | Grade | Comment |
|---|---|---|
| Value for money | D | The first price the store names is $7.99 a week, near $35 a month, when the middle of this category is $5.99 and the dearest tenth starts at $17.29. The year at $79.99 is ordinary enough, lifetime is $99.99, but the short terms are top-end and the listing never says what Plus unlocks. |
| Free plan and trial | C | Free to download and use, but the caps are a mystery: neither the website nor the store listing says which features are held back for Plus, so you find the edges as you go. The App Store also notes the app contains advertising. |
| Features | C | Speaking your day is the whole idea, and around it you get the basics: timing suggestions, repeating tasks, categories, widgets and imports from Apple Calendar, Google Calendar and Reminders. The gap is in the listing: Google Calendar is import-only, so nothing you plan here goes back. |
| Ease of use | B | 4.54 from about 3,100 App Store ratings. There's not much to learn when the main control is your voice and everyday phrases like "add 10 minutes to my morning run". |
| Platforms and integrations | D | iPhone only. The App Store listing says "Only for iPhone" in as many words, and the vendor's page links to no Android, web or desktop version. It does import Apple Calendar, Google Calendar and Apple Reminders. |
An A is worth 4 points, a B 3, a C 2, a D 1 and an F nothing. The GPA is the average of the five.
Who Day Flow is for
- Fits if you'd rather talk through your day than type it out task by task
- Works for people with ADHD, the audience the vendor says it was built for
Who it is not for
- Skip it if you don't use an iPhone, because there's no other version
- Pricey if you pay by the week or month, at $7.99 and $19.99 against $79.99 for the year
- Not for you if you want to know what's free before you start, as the listing doesn't say
- Watch out: Google Calendar is import-only, so nothing you plan in Day Flow goes back
- Watch out: the app contains ads, and two "Unlimited Access" purchases at $8.99 and $49.99 aren't explained

Keep it, or make your own?
Whether this is something you could build for yourself with an AI app builder, and what you would give up.
Keep it
The plain part of Day Flow you could make: natural-language input, calendar and tasks. What surrounds it you could not. The 4 things listed below take a company, not a weekend.
That makes this kind of software worth paying for, not this one in particular: 68 of the 69 other daily planner apps grade higher. It costs $79.99 a year.
What you could make
- Natural-language input, calendar and tasks: an app builder makes these well.
What you could not
- A scheduler that rearranges your day as things move.
- A real app for iOS. Something home-made would be a web page.
- AI features, unless you pay a model provider for each request yourself.
- Hooks into the device itself: widgets.
What this rests on. Day Flow’s listing: what it does, where it runs, what it plugs into and what it costs. It is a judgement about the kind of software this is. We have not built a replacement for it, and making your own means looking after it too. How we decide, and every tool’s verdict.
