How we grade them

Value for money
BDay Flow Plus is $79.99 a year on the US App Store, about what a typical planner costs over twelve months, or $99.99 once for life. The short terms are another story, at $7.99 a week and $19.99 a month. And the listing doesn't say what Plus unlocks.
AThe US App Store lists Pro at $2.99, $6.99 and $7.99 a month and from $9.99 to $39.99 a year, or $99.99 once for life. Even the top yearly price is under half what a typical planner costs over a year. Prices change by region, and Structured publishes no price list.
Free plan and trial
BFree to download and use with limits, but neither the website nor the store listing says which features are held back for Plus. So you find the edges as you go. The App Store also notes that the app contains advertising.
BFree for good, with the timeline, an inbox, subtasks, notes, notifications, widgets and sync. That's a real planner. But repeating tasks, calendar import, Reminders import and the AI all need Pro, and a day planner without your calendar in it is a tight deal.
Features
BSpeak your day and it builds the schedule, then change it by asking. It suggests when to fit in a workout, handles repeating tasks and categories, and pulls in Apple Calendar, Google Calendar and Reminders. Solid. But Google Calendar is import-only, going by the 1.7.0 release notes.
AOne timeline for tasks and events with day, week and month views, an inbox for things not yet scheduled, imports from Google Calendar, Outlook, Apple Reminders and Microsoft To Do, repeating tasks, Replan for the ones you missed, and an AI that drafts your day or scans a paper timetable.
Ease of use
B4.5 from about 3,100 App Store ratings, a B on our ladder. There's not much to learn when the main control is your voice and everyday phrases like "add 10 minutes to my morning run".
A4.8 from about 167,000 App Store ratings, which is a huge crowd to keep happy. Your day is a single coloured line you read top to bottom. No manual needed for that.
Platforms and integrations
DiPhone only. The App Store listing says so in as many words, and the vendor's page links to no Android, web or desktop version. It does import Apple Calendar, Google Calendar and Apple Reminders.
AiPhone, iPad, Mac, Apple Watch, Android and a web app, kept in step by Structured Cloud. It pulls in Google Calendar, Outlook, Apple Reminders and Microsoft To Do. No Windows app, and the web version doesn't have every feature of the phone apps yet.

Worth knowing

Day Flow

  • iPhone only. The App Store listing says "Only for iPhone" and the vendor's page links to no Android, web or desktop version.
  • Neither the website nor the store listing says which features are free and which need Day Flow Plus.
  • The store also lists two "Unlimited Access" purchases at $8.99 and $49.99 without saying what term or features they cover.
  • The App Store listing notes that the app contains advertising.

Structured

  • The vendor publishes no price list. Pro pricing depends on region and currency and is shown in the app or app store.

  • There is no Windows app. Structured Web runs in a browser but does not yet have every feature of the mobile apps.
  • Structured Web needs an internet connection and a Structured Cloud sync account.

Key features

Day Flow

Voice planning
Say what you need to do and the assistant builds a schedule for the day or the week from it, without typing each task.
Spoken changes
Plans can be changed by request in everyday phrasing, such as moving a dinner to next Friday, adding 10 minutes to a morning run or shifting several tasks to the weekend.
Calendar and Reminders import
Apple Calendar, Google Calendar and Apple Reminders can be imported so events and to-dos sit in one view. The 1.7.0 release notes describe Google Calendar as import-only.
Timing suggestions
The assistant proposes when to fit in things like a workout or a break, and release notes say it reads free time in the day when placing tasks.
Recurring tasks and categories
Tasks can repeat, carry reminders and be grouped into categories. To-dos without a set time can be reordered by dragging.
Widgets
The App Store version history mentions widgets, which returned in version 1.7.5 and received a further fix in version 1.9.0.

Structured

Visual timeline
Tasks and imported calendar events appear on one timeline for the day, with daily, weekly and monthly views and color coding.
Inbox, subtasks and notes
Tasks can wait in an inbox until they are scheduled, and carry subtasks, notes, icons and notifications. All of this is in the free version.
Calendar and Reminders import
Brings in events from Google Calendar and Microsoft Outlook and to-do lists from Apple Reminders and Microsoft To Do. Requires Structured Pro.
Recurring tasks and Replan
Repeat tasks on a schedule, and use Replan to move missed tasks onto another day. Both are Pro features.
Structured AI
Drafts a daily schedule and can scan a physical planner or timetable into the timeline. Requires Structured Pro.
Sync across devices
Structured Cloud sync shares data and Pro access between Apple devices, Android and the web app, and the Apple Watch app shows the schedule on your wrist.
