Best for a cheap timeline planner for your phone

Taskito lays your day out as a timeline, with tasks, reminders, notes and calendar events in one view, and you drag tasks into open slots to block out time. Premium is cheap: $3.49 a month, or $19.99 a year at most on the US App Store. The free plan is tight, though, and your calendar events are look-don't-touch.

Who Taskito is for

  • Great if you want tasks and events on one timeline of the day
  • Handy when you plan on your phone and like dragging tasks into free slots
  • Good for anyone who'd rather pay once, with Lifetime at $39.99 or $49.99

Who Taskito is not for

  • Tight if you're staying free, because 3 projects and 3 repeating tasks go fast
  • Skip it if you want to edit calendar events in your planner, as imported events are read-only
  • Not for you if you plan mostly on a computer, since the web app is Premium and calendar import is mobile only

Why Taskito gets a 3.2

Five grades, each with its reason. The GPA is their average: an A is 4 points, an F is none.

  • AValue for moneyPremium is $3.49 a month on the US App Store. Yearly is listed at $7.99, $15.99 and $19.99, with nothing to say how they differ, but even the dearest is under $2 a month against about $8 for a typical planner. Lifetime is $39.99 or $49.99.
  • BFree plan and trialFree gets you the timeline planner and tasks, but the limits come quickly: 3 projects, 3 repeating tasks, 3 repeating reminders, 1 reminder per task and sync on 2 devices. Rent, the bins and the gym, and your repeats are used up.
  • BFeaturesThe timeline, an Agenda View for dragging tasks into free slots, quick add that reads the date, time, priority and tag from one line, repeating tasks and kanban boards. Good basics. But calendar import is Premium, phone only and read-only, so you can't edit an event here.
  • BEase of useNo App Store rating on record, so a B is our ceiling. Type "dentist tomorrow 2pm" and it sorts out the date and time for you. One faff: you can only upgrade through the mobile app or an app store, even if it's the web app you want.
  • BPlatforms and integrationsiPhone, iPad, Android and a web app, though the web app needs Premium. No desktop apps. Events come in through your phone's own calendar, which covers Google and Outlook if they're synced to it, and only in the mobile apps.

What is Taskito?

Taskito is a to-do app that lays the day out as a timeline, with tasks, reminders, notes and imported calendar events in one view. Its Agenda View is a clock-time layout where tasks are dragged into open slots to block out time. The Android, iPhone and iPad apps are free to start with limits on projects and repeating items; Premium lifts those limits and adds calendar import and the web app.

Taskito has a free plan. Paid plans start at $3.49 per month, or $7.99 to $19.99 per year (US App Store). See every plan

  • The vendor's site gives no prices and says they vary by store and region. The US App Store shows several amounts for the yearly and lifetime options.

Key features

Timeline and Agenda View
The day is shown as a timeline of tasks, reminders, notes and events. Agenda View adds a clock-time layout where tasks are dragged into open slots, then moved or resized.
Smart Parsing
Quick Add reads the date, time, priority and tag from one typed line, such as a dentist visit tomorrow at 2pm marked p2 with a Home tag.
Recurring tasks and reminders
Tasks repeat daily, weekly, monthly or on a custom rule, and reminders can be snoozed. The free plan allows 3 repeating tasks and 1 reminder per task.
Calendar import
A Premium feature of the mobile apps that reads events from the phone's system calendar, including Google and Outlook calendars synced to it. Events are not editable in Taskito.
Projects and kanban boards
Related tasks are grouped into color-coded projects that can be worked as kanban-style boards. The free plan allows up to 3 projects.
Taskito Web
A browser workspace with the same synced tasks, projects and reminders and its own Quick Add. It needs Premium and a signed-in Taskito account.
