Best for a planner and step counter that teases you
SparkDay is a planner, step counter, habit tracker, journal and focus timer in one phone app. Then it roasts you about how your day went, in one of 30 AI personas. The core is free with ads and needs no account. It's phones only, though, and nothing on its site or App Store listing says it syncs with Google Calendar or any other outside calendar.
Who SparkDay is for
- Great if you want your planner, step counter and habit tracker in one app
- Handy when you and your friends push each other with step competitions
- A treat if being teased works better on you than being nagged
Who SparkDay is not for
- Skip it if your day is built around Google Calendar or Outlook, as no calendar sync is mentioned
- Not for you if you plan at a desk, because there's no web or desktop version
- Not for you if ads bother you, unless you pay $6.99 a month or $49.99 a year for Pro
Why SparkDay gets a 3.0
Five grades, each with its reason. The GPA is their average: an A is 4 points, an F is none.
- BValue for moneyPro is $49.99 a year, about $4.17 a month, or $6.99 monthly. That's a little under the middle for planners. What it buys is modest: no ads, 25 leaderboard friends, premium sounds and clock faces, 5 AI roasts a day and AI daily reports.
- AFree plan and trialThe planner, step tracker, journal, habits, reminders and focus timer are all free, with no account to make. You'll see ads, and the leaderboard stops at 3 friends. Most people could stay right here.
- BFeaturesA 24-hour timeline with alarms, step counts with leaderboards, habit streaks, a journal with voice-to-text in 15 languages, and a Pomodoro timer with 50 music tracks. Lots packed in. But neither the site nor the App Store listing mentions syncing with outside calendars.
- BEase of useNo App Store rating on record, so a B is our ceiling. There's no account to set up, so you can open it and start planning. The free version does show ads while you do.
- CPlatforms and integrationsiPhone and Android phones only. There's no web or desktop version, and the App Store listing is for iPhone, not iPad. The one connection on record is Health Connect.
