Part 01 · Overview

Welcome

What it is, who it suits, its grades and the ten things to know first

2.2

GPA, above 3 of the 79 other project management tools we grade

GanttPRO is cloud-based project planning software built around an interactive Gantt chart. Plans use a work breakdown structure with dependencies, auto scheduling, baselines and a critical path, and can also be shown as a board, list or dashboard. Higher plans add workload, portfolio, budget and time management, and every plan includes an AI Gantt chart maker.

To get you started, here are 9 things to know about GanttPRO, taken from its own pages and our grades.

This is a tool where the work is building the plan itself, task by task, with dependencies to wire up, so there's a learning curve.
From our grade for ease of use

A project can be switched from the Gantt chart to a Kanban-style board, a list or a dashboard on any plan. Calendar view starts on Advanced, portfolio and workload views on Business.

  7. 7

    Workload and budgets

The Business plan shows each person's workload so work can be reallocated, and adds resource calendars, cost estimation and budget planning.

The report card

Best for planning projects on a Gantt chart

GanttPRO is built around the Gantt chart, with dependencies, auto scheduling, baselines and a critical path on every plan from $8 a user a month billed annually. There's no free plan, only a 14-day trial, and single users can only pay yearly. Workload, budgets, time tracking, reports and the API need Business at $19, and single sign-on needs Enterprise with at least 5 users.

ToolGPA report cardGanttPROGraded Oct 10, 2026
SubjectGradeComment
Value for moneyCCore is $8 a user a month billed annually, $9 monthly, which is exactly the middle price in this category, and $7 from 20 users. Ordinary, then. Mind the ladder above it: custom fields need Advanced at $12, and workload, budgets, time tracking and the API need Business at $19.
Free plan and trialCNo free plan at all. There's a 14-day trial with everything switched on and no card asked for, and then you subscribe. On your own you can only buy it annually.
FeaturesCThe Gantt side is done fully: dependencies, auto scheduling, critical path, baselines, milestones, plus board, list and dashboard views and export to PDF, PNG, XLSX and XML. But that is the narrower half of running a project, and workload, portfolio, budgets, reports and time logs all need Business.
Ease of useCNo store rating on record. This is a tool where the work is building the plan itself, task by task, with dependencies to wire up, so there's a learning curve. The AI chart maker on every plan at least gives you a first draft to push around.
Platforms and integrationsBWeb, iPhone and Android, with no desktop app on record. It connects to Teams, Slack, Google Drive, OneDrive, Google Calendar and Outlook Calendar, though Jira Cloud and the API wait for Business.
Grade point averageFair, out of 4.02.2

An A is worth 4 points, a B 3, a C 2, a D 1 and an F nothing. The GPA is the average of the five.

Who GanttPRO is for

  • Fits if you plan with dependencies, baselines and a critical path
  • Works for teams of 20 or more, who pay $1 to $2 less per user on annual billing

Who it is not for

  • Not for you if you want to stay free, as there's no free plan once the 14-day trial ends
  • Pricey if you need workload, budgets, time tracking, reports, Jira Cloud or the API, which all sit on Business at $19 a user
  • Skip it if you work alone and want to pay monthly, since single-user accounts are annual only
  • Tight if you need single sign-on or custom roles, as Enterprise needs at least 5 users on an annual plan
  • Watch out: storage is 1 GB per user below Enterprise, there's no desktop app, and nothing can be edited offline

Good to know

Good for

  • Project managers who plan with dependencies, baselines and a critical path
  • Teams of 20 or more, which get a lower per-user rate on annual billing
  • Organizations that want their data stored in EU data centers

Worth knowing

  • There is no free plan: a subscription is needed after the 14-day trial, and single-user accounts are sold on annual billing only.
  • Workload, portfolio view, time tracking, budgets, reports, the Jira Cloud integration and the API all need the Business plan.
  • SAML SSO and custom roles need Enterprise, which requires at least 5 users and an annual subscription.
  • Storage is 1 GB per user on Core, Advanced and Business. Data cannot be edited offline.

Keep it, or make your own?

Whether this is something you could build for yourself with an AI app builder, and what you would give up.

Keep it

The plain part of GanttPRO you could make: Gantt & timelines, tasks, kanban boards and time tracking. What surrounds it you could not. The 4 things listed below take a company, not a weekend.

That makes this kind of software worth paying for, not this one in particular: 60 of the 79 other project management tools grade higher. It costs $96 a year.

What you could make

  • Gantt & timelines, tasks, kanban boards and time tracking: an app builder makes these well.

What you could not

  • A real app for iOS and Android. Something home-made would be a web page.
  • It is priced for each person, which means accounts and billing for a team.
  • It plugs into other products, Microsoft Teams, Slack and Google Drive among them, and has an API.
  • AI features, unless you pay a model provider for each request yourself.

What this rests on. GanttPRO’s listing: what it does, where it runs, what it plugs into and what it costs. It is a judgement about the kind of software this is. We have not built a replacement for it, and making your own means looking after it too. How we decide, and every tool’s verdict.
