Part 01 · Overview

Welcome

What it is, who it suits, its grades and the ten things to know first

3.4

GPA, above 42 of the 42 other time tracking apps we grade

Jibble is a time and attendance tracker for teams that clock in from phones, desktops, a browser or a shared kiosk. Clock-ins can be checked with face recognition, selfies, GPS and geofences, and the hours feed timesheets, time-off records, reports and client invoices. The core tracker is free for any number of users, and paid Premium and Ultimate plans lift the limits on locations, kiosks and work schedules.

To get you started, here are 8 things to know about Jibble, taken from its own pages and our grades.

Clocking in is a tap, and entries made with no signal sync once the device is back online.
From our grade for ease of use
  1. 1

Best for a free time clock for a team of any size

Premium and Ultimate show no price anywhere on the site, there's no Linux app, and a localized price can switch to the US dollar plan.

  2. 2

    There is a free plan

Free plan for unlimited users: tracking on web, mobile, desktop and kiosk, with timesheets and reports. Capped at 2 locations, 1 kiosk and 1 work schedule, and screenshots are kept for 3 days.

  3. 3

    It runs on 5 platforms

Web, macOS, Windows, iOS and Android, with a browser extension too.

  4. 4

    Clock in from any device

Staff track hours from iOS and Android apps, Mac and Windows desktop apps, a Chrome extension, a browser, or a tablet set up as a shared kiosk.

  5. 5

    Identity and location checks

Clock-ins can require face recognition, a selfie, an NFC tap or a PIN, and GPS stamps a location on each entry. Geofences restrict clock-ins to approved sites.

  6. 6

    Timesheets and approvals

Time entries build timesheets automatically. Managers review and approve them per pay period, and reports export as XLS or CSV for payroll.

  7. 7

    A 3.4 GPA, above 42 of 42

That is against the other time tracking apps we grade, on value, the free plan, features, ease of use and platforms.

  8. 8

    Keep it

The plain part of Jibble you could make: time tracking, reports and invoicing. What surrounds it you could not. The 3 things listed below take a company, not a weekend.

Jibble is a time clock whose core is free for unlimited users: staff clock in from a phone, a laptop or a shared tablet, with an optional face check or GPS stamp. The free plan caps you at 2 locations, 1 kiosk and 1 work schedule and keeps screenshots 3 days. Premium and Ultimate show no price anywhere on the site, there's no Linux app, and a localized price can switch to the US dollar plan.

Value for moneyCWe can't tell you what Premium or Ultimate cost, because the plans page lists them with no amounts at all, so there's nothing to hold up against other time trackers. They're billed per seat, monthly or annually, and nonprofits can claim 50% off for life.
Free plan and trialAFree for unlimited users, with tracking on web, mobile, desktop and kiosk, plus timesheets and reports. The caps are 2 locations, 1 kiosk and 1 work schedule, and screenshots are kept for 3 days.
FeaturesBClock-ins checked by face recognition, selfie, NFC tap or PIN, with GPS and geofences. Timesheets build themselves and managers approve them per pay period, and time off, overtime rules, projects and client invoices are all in there. Attendance is covered end to end.
Ease of useA4.8 on the App Store from 1,558 ratings, the highest in this category. Clocking in is a tap, and entries made with no signal sync once the device is back online.
Platforms and integrationsAWeb, Mac, Windows, iPhone, Android and a Chrome extension, plus a tablet set up as a kiosk. Slack, Microsoft Teams, QuickBooks Online, Xero, Deel and Zapier connect. There's no Linux app.
Grade point averageVery good, out of 4.03.4

An A is worth 4 points, a B 3, a C 2, a D 1 and an F nothing. The GPA is the average of the five.

Who Jibble is for

  • Fits if you need a free time clock for more people than most free plans allow
  • Works for crews that clock in on job sites, with a GPS stamp on every entry

Who it is not for

  • Skip it if you need to see a price before you sign up, as Premium and Ultimate don't publish one
  • Tight if you're staying free with more than 2 locations, 1 kiosk or 1 work schedule, or need screenshots kept past 3 days
  • Not for you if your desktops run Linux, since the desktop apps are Mac and Windows only
  • Watch out: a localized price moves to the standard USD plan if under 80% of your users are based in that country

Good to know

Good for

  • Teams of any size that need a free time clock
  • Field and job-site crews clocking in by GPS or a shared kiosk
  • Employers who want to stop buddy punching with face checks

Worth knowing

  • Paid plan prices are not shown on the website: the plans page lists Premium and Ultimate without amounts, and help articles use sample figures.
  • The Free plan is capped at 2 locations, 1 kiosk and 1 work schedule, with screenshots stored for 3 days.
  • Desktop apps are listed for Mac and Windows only; there is no Linux app.
  • Jibble applies localized pricing in some countries and moves an organization to the standard USD plan if under 80% of users are based there.

Keep it, or make your own?

Whether this is something you could build for yourself with an AI app builder, and what you would give up.

Keep it

The plain part of Jibble you could make: time tracking, reports and invoicing. What surrounds it you could not. The 3 things listed below take a company, not a weekend.

It is one of the better ones too: its GPA of 3.4 is higher than 42 of the 42 other time tracking apps we grade.

What you could make

  • Time tracking, reports and invoicing: an app builder makes these well.

What you could not

  • Apps for macOS, Windows, iOS and Android that stay in step with each other.
  • It plugs into other products, Slack, Microsoft Teams and QuickBooks Online among them, and has an API.
  • The depth: we grade its features B, which means it covers the whole job.

What this rests on. Jibble’s listing: what it does, where it runs, what it plugs into and what it costs. It is a judgement about the kind of software this is. We have not built a replacement for it, and making your own means looking after it too. How we decide, and every tool’s verdict.
