How we grade them
| 3.8GPAJibbleExcellent | 3.8GPATimeCampExcellent | |
|---|---|---|
| Value for money | BWe can't tell you what Premium or Ultimate cost, because the plans page lists them without amounts. So there's nothing to set against other time trackers. They're billed per seat, monthly or annually, and nonprofits can claim 50% off for life. | AStarter is $3.99 a user a month billed annually, or $5.49 month-to-month, and it already has invoicing, attendance and time off. That's well under what time trackers usually charge. Even Ultimate is $9.99. The AI Time Tracker is extra, billed by token usage. |
| Free plan and trial | AFree for unlimited users, with tracking on web, mobile, desktop and kiosk, plus timesheets and reports. Most teams could stay on it. The caps are 2 locations, 1 kiosk and 1 work schedule, and screenshots are kept for 3 days. | AFree forever with unlimited users and unlimited projects, plus timesheets and the web, desktop and mobile apps. A whole team could stay here. What you don't get is integrations, invoicing or attendance. |
| Features | AClock-ins checked by face recognition, selfie, NFC tap or PIN, with GPS and geofences. Timesheets build themselves and managers approve them per pay period. Add time off, overtime rules, projects and client invoices, and it covers attendance end to end. | ALog time with a timer, manual entries or a weekly timesheet, or let the desktop app track by itself. Then there's attendance, time off and overtime, invoicing, budgets with alerts, more than 10 reports and, on Ultimate, approvals, expenses and screenshots. That's the whole job. |
| Ease of use | A4.8 from about 1,600 App Store ratings. Clocking in is a tap, and entries made with no signal sync once the device is back online. | BWe have no App Store rating on record, so a B is as high as we go. There are three ways to log time, so most people will find one that suits. Working out which plan holds which feature takes longer. |
| Platforms and integrations | AWeb, Mac, Windows, iPhone, Android and a Chrome extension, plus a tablet set up as a kiosk. Slack, Microsoft Teams, QuickBooks Online, Xero, Deel and Zapier connect. There's no Linux app. | AWeb, Mac, Windows, Linux, iOS, Android and a browser extension, with Trello, Asana, ClickUp, Jira, GitHub, QuickBooks and Xero on the list. Integrations are rationed, though: none on Free or Starter, one on Premium, unlimited on Ultimate. |
| Best for | a free time clock for a team of any size | free timesheets for a team of any size |
The GPA is the average of the five grades: an A is 4 points, an F is none. The full reasons are on each tool's page: Jibble and TimeCamp. How we grade
Where they differ

Key features
Jibble
- Clock in from any device
- Staff track hours from iOS and Android apps, Mac and Windows desktop apps, a Chrome extension, a browser, or a tablet set up as a shared kiosk.
- Identity and location checks
- Clock-ins can require face recognition, a selfie, an NFC tap or a PIN, and GPS stamps a location on each entry. Geofences restrict clock-ins to approved sites.
- Timesheets and approvals
- Time entries build timesheets automatically. Managers review and approve them per pay period, and reports export as XLS or CSV for payroll.
- Time off and work schedules
- Leave policies, accruals and requests are managed alongside tracked hours, with work schedules and overtime rules. The Free plan allows 1 work schedule.
- Projects and invoicing
- Time can be logged against projects, activities and clients, then turned into client invoices. A Xero integration sends invoices from payroll hours.
- Offline mode and screenshots
- Entries made without a connection sync once the device is back online. The Mac and Windows apps can capture screenshots, kept for 3 days on the Free plan.
TimeCamp
- Timesheets and automatic tracking
- Time is logged with a timer, manual entries or a weekly timesheet, and the desktop app can track computer activity automatically. Apps and websites tracking starts on Premium.
- AI Time Tracker
- A separate app for macOS and Windows that suggests time entries. It is billed by token usage on top of the plan, which TimeCamp estimates at about $6 per user a month.
- Attendance and time off
- From Starter, an attendance calendar records working days alongside time-off and overtime tracking, with reports for each.
- Billing and budgets
- Invoicing starts on Starter, and billable time and budgets with alerts on Premium. Billing rates, expenses, labor costs and fixed fee projects need Ultimate.
- Reports
- More than 10 time tracking reports with PDF export. Excel export starts on Starter, scheduled email reports on Premium and the pivot table report on Ultimate.
- Approvals and monitoring
- Ultimate adds timesheet approvals, screenshots, unusual activity detection, remote work detection and a history of changes to time entries.
