Value for money
CBasic is $6.67 a user a month billed annually, or $8 month-to-month, which sounds typical. But web and app usage, productivity ratings, payroll and the 60+ integrations need Standard at $11.67. The open API and SSO need Premium at $16.70.
AStarter is $3.99 a user a month billed annually, or $5.49 month-to-month, and it already has invoicing, attendance and time off. That's well under what time trackers usually charge. Even Ultimate is $9.99. The AI Time Tracker is extra, billed by token usage.
Free plan and trial
CNo free plan. Every new account gets a 14-day trial of all Premium features with no credit card, and then a paid plan follows.
AFree forever with unlimited users and unlimited projects, plus timesheets and the web, desktop and mobile apps. A whole team could stay here. What you don't get is integrations, invoicing or attendance.
Features
ATracking runs silently or under the user's control, online or offline, with optional screenshots on every plan. Higher up come web and app usage, productivity ratings, schedules, attendance, time approvals, payroll reports and a report that flags mouse jigglers. That's the whole job and then some.
ALog time with a timer, manual entries or a weekly timesheet, or let the desktop app track by itself. Then there's attendance, time off and overtime, invoicing, budgets with alerts, more than 10 reports and, on Ultimate, approvals, expenses and screenshots. That's the whole job.
Ease of use
BWe have no App Store rating on record, so a B is as high as we go. People install the desktop app and it tracks. One quirk: you can't track time in the web app itself, which is for dashboards, reports and settings only.
BWe have no App Store rating on record, so a B is as high as we go. There are three ways to log time, so most people will find one that suits. Working out which plan holds which feature takes longer.
Platforms and integrations
AWeb, Mac, Windows, Linux, iOS, Android and browser extensions, with 60+ integrations from Standard and an open API on Premium. The phone apps record work hours and nothing else, and the Linux app supports Ubuntu on Xorg only.
AWeb, Mac, Windows, Linux, iOS, Android and a browser extension, with Trello, Asana, ClickUp, Jira, GitHub, QuickBooks and Xero on the list. Integrations are rationed, though: none on Free or Starter, one on Premium, unlimited on Ultimate.

Key features

Time Doctor

Automatic or interactive tracking
The desktop app tracks time either silently in the background or under the user's control with tasks, online or offline. The web app is for dashboards, reports and settings only.
Screenshots and screen recording
Optional screenshots are part of every plan and can be configured per team. Video screen recording comes with Premium and is an add-on for Basic and Standard.
Web and app usage
From Standard, reports show which websites and apps time went to, with configurable productivity ratings and an activity summary for people and teams.
Attendance, schedules and payroll
Standard adds shift schedules, attendance, break and leave tracking, time approvals and payroll reports built from tracked hours.
Benchmarks AI and unusual activity
Benchmarks AI compares teams with matched peer groups, and the unusual activity report flags mouse jigglers and irregular keyboard input. Both are in Premium or sold as add-ons.
Integrations through the browser
From Standard, more than 60 integrations work through Chrome and Firefox extensions that add start and stop timer controls inside supported web apps.

TimeCamp

Timesheets and automatic tracking
Time is logged with a timer, manual entries or a weekly timesheet, and the desktop app can track computer activity automatically. Apps and websites tracking starts on Premium.
AI Time Tracker
A separate app for macOS and Windows that suggests time entries. It is billed by token usage on top of the plan, which TimeCamp estimates at about $6 per user a month.
Attendance and time off
From Starter, an attendance calendar records working days alongside time-off and overtime tracking, with reports for each.
Billing and budgets
Invoicing starts on Starter, and billable time and budgets with alerts on Premium. Billing rates, expenses, labor costs and fixed fee projects need Ultimate.
Reports
More than 10 time tracking reports with PDF export. Excel export starts on Starter, scheduled email reports on Premium and the pivot table report on Ultimate.
Approvals and monitoring
Ultimate adds timesheet approvals, screenshots, unusual activity detection, remote work detection and a history of changes to time entries.
