Worth knowing

Jibble

  • Paid plan prices are not shown on the website: the plans page lists Premium and Ultimate without amounts, and help articles use sample figures.
  • The Free plan is capped at 2 locations, 1 kiosk and 1 work schedule, with screenshots stored for 3 days.
  • Desktop apps are listed for Mac and Windows only; there is no Linux app.
  • Jibble applies localized pricing in some countries and moves an organization to the standard USD plan if under 80% of users are based there.

QuickBooks Time

  • The pricing page states that a QuickBooks Online account is required to use QuickBooks Time.
  • There is no free plan, and both plans charge a monthly base fee on top of the per-user fee.
  • Mileage tracking, project tracking and timesheet signatures are limited to Time Elite.
  • No Mac or Windows desktop app is listed; computers use a web browser or the time kiosk.

Key features

Jibble

Clock in from any device
Staff track hours from iOS and Android apps, Mac and Windows desktop apps, a Chrome extension, a browser, or a tablet set up as a shared kiosk.
Identity and location checks
Clock-ins can require face recognition, a selfie, an NFC tap or a PIN, and GPS stamps a location on each entry. Geofences restrict clock-ins to approved sites.
Timesheets and approvals
Time entries build timesheets automatically. Managers review and approve them per pay period, and reports export as XLS or CSV for payroll.
Time off and work schedules
Leave policies, accruals and requests are managed alongside tracked hours, with work schedules and overtime rules. The Free plan allows 1 work schedule.
Projects and invoicing
Time can be logged against projects, activities and clients, then turned into client invoices. A Xero integration sends invoices from payroll hours.
Offline mode and screenshots
Entries made without a connection sync once the device is back online. The Mac and Windows apps can capture screenshots, kept for 3 days on the Free plan.

QuickBooks Time

Mobile time clock
Employees clock in and out and sign and submit timesheets in the QuickBooks Workforce app on iPhone, iPad and Android, with GPS location points recorded while on the clock.
Time kiosk
A shared punch clock for on-site teams that runs on a tablet, desktop or laptop. It is part of both the Premium and Elite plans.
Scheduling
Managers create schedules by job or by shift, then edit, publish and share them with the team.
Payroll and invoicing sync
Tracked hours sync to accounting and payroll rather than being re-entered. Intuit says QuickBooks Time integrates with more than 50 accounting and payroll apps.
Projects and mileage
Time Elite adds GPS mileage tracking, project tracking with estimates against actual hours, a project activity feed and timesheet signatures.
Reports and time off
Customizable reports cover job costs and payroll planning, and both plans include time-off management with alerts and notifications.
