Part 01 · Overview
Welcome
What it is, who it suits, its grades and the ten things to know first
2.2
GPA, above 12 of the 51 other keyword research tools we grade
Keyword Hero matches the keywords in Google Search Console to sessions in Google Analytics 4, so organic traffic, engagement and conversions can be read by keyword instead of showing as not provided. It also reports traffic from AI assistants such as ChatGPT and Perplexity, and an MCP server lets AI agents query the data. Plans are priced by organic sessions a month.
To get you started, here are 9 things to know about Keyword Hero, taken from its own pages and our grades.
- 1
Best for seeing which Google searches lead to sales
Keyword Hero brings back the keywords Google Analytics hides as not provided: it matches your Search Console searches to visits, so you can see which keywords bring sign-ups and sales.
- 2
Paid plans start at $8 a month
As its pricing page puts it: $8 per month, billed annually ($9 billed monthly).
- 3
There is a free plan
Little plan, free for good: up to 2,000 organic sessions a month with keyword performance and comparison and the Google Analytics upload. No history or key-event tracking. No card needed.
- 4
It runs on Web
Web.
- 5
Keywords restored in Analytics
Matches Search Console queries to Google Analytics sessions, so sessions, bounce rate, page views and conversions show by keyword. The FAQ puts the average match at 93%.
- 6
AI assistant traffic
Shows how much traffic ChatGPT, Perplexity, Claude and Gemini send to the site, next to classic organic search.
- 7
Search intent
Labels keywords as transactional, commercial, navigational or informational, from the Giant plan up.
- 8
A 2.2 GPA, above 12 of 51
That is against the other keyword research tools we grade, on value, the free plan, features, ease of use and platforms.
- 9
Keep it
To replace Keyword Hero you would be making search volumes for millions of keywords, gathered and kept up to date. That is not a weekend's work, with an AI app builder or without one.

The report card
Best for seeing which Google searches lead to sales
Keyword Hero brings back the keywords Google Analytics hides as not provided: it matches your Search Console searches to visits, so you can see which keywords bring sign-ups and sales. Big is $8 a month on yearly billing. But it needs both Google products, the matches are statistical rather than Google's own data, the free plan keeps no history, and it won't find you a single new keyword.
| Subject | Grade | Comment |
|---|---|---|
| Value for money | B | Big is $8 a month on yearly billing ($9 monthly) for 10,000 organic sessions, inside the cheaper quarter of this category. It climbs with your traffic, though: 50,000 sessions is Giant at $44, and that's where search intent and the MCP server start. |
| Free plan and trial | C | The Little plan is free for good with no card, up to 2,000 organic sessions a month. But it keeps no history and tracks no key events, so seeing which keyword led to a sale, the whole point, needs Big. |
| Features | D | It does one thing: match Search Console queries to Analytics sessions, 93% of them on average by its FAQ, plus AI assistant traffic and intent labels. It needs both Google products to work at all, and gives no keyword ideas, volumes or difficulty. |
| Ease of use | C | No rating on record. You connect Google Analytics 4 and Search Console, and it writes the keywords to a separate Analytics property, so there's setup before you see anything. |
| Platforms and integrations | B | Web only, wired into Google Analytics, Search Console and BigQuery, with an MCP server from Giant so Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor or VS Code can ask for the numbers. No desktop or phone app. |
An A is worth 4 points, a B 3, a C 2, a D 1 and an F nothing. The GPA is the average of the five.
Who Keyword Hero is for
- Fits if you want to know which searches end in a sale or sign-up, not only a visit
- Works for reporting brand and non-brand search growth to a boss or a client
Who it is not for
- Skip it if you're hunting for new keywords, since it only reads traffic you already get
- Not for you if you don't run Google Analytics 4 and Search Console
- Pricey if your site is big, as plans rise with sessions and 250,000 a month is $134 on yearly billing
- Watch out: keywords are matched statistically, not read from Google, and land in a separate Analytics property
- Tight if you want search intent or MCP, which start at Giant for $44 a month on yearly billing
Good to know
Good for
- Site owners who want to see which searches lead to conversions
- SEO teams reporting brand and non-brand organic growth
- Tracking traffic from AI assistants alongside Google search
Worth knowing
- It needs Google Analytics 4 and Search Console, and writes its keywords to a separate Analytics property; the keywords are matched statistically, not read from Google.
- The free plan stops at 2,000 organic sessions a month and keeps no history.
- Search intent and MCP access start at Giant, $49 a month; the BigQuery table starts at Ultimate.
- Plans are priced by organic sessions a month; above 250,000 is a custom contract.

Keep it, or make your own?
Whether this is something you could build for yourself with an AI app builder, and what you would give up.
Keep it
To replace Keyword Hero you would be making search volumes for millions of keywords, gathered and kept up to date. That is not a weekend's work, with an AI app builder or without one.
That makes this kind of software worth paying for, not this one in particular: 29 of the 51 other keyword research tools grade higher. It costs $96 a year.
What you could make
- Reports: an app builder makes this well.
What you could not
- Search volumes for millions of keywords, gathered and kept up to date.
- A tracking script and a database that counts every visit.
- The same prompts asked of ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini and Google's AI answers every day, and the answers kept.
- It plugs into other products, Google Analytics, Google Search Console and BigQuery among them.
What this rests on. Keyword Hero’s listing: what it does, where it runs, what it plugs into and what it costs. It is a judgement about the kind of software this is. We have not built a replacement for it, and making your own means looking after it too. How we decide, and every tool’s verdict.
