Part 01 · Overview

Welcome

What it is, who it suits, its grades and the ten things to know first

2.0

GPA, above 15 of the 61 other local SEO tools we grade

Moz Local is the local SEO product from Moz. It pushes a business's details to more than 90 directories and keeps them synced, tracks map pack rankings on a local grid and gathers reviews from several sites into one dashboard. Higher tiers add review replies, social posting and reporting. Each physical location is a separate subscription, and listings are supported in the US, UK and Canada.

To get you started, here are 8 things to know about Moz Local, taken from its own pages and our grades.

You enter each location's details and connect Google and Facebook before listings and reviews start flowing in.

Keep it, or make your own?

Whether this is something you could build for yourself with an AI app builder, and what you would give up.

Keep it

To replace Moz Local you would be making listings sent to dozens of directories and map apps, which takes an agreement with each. That is not a weekend's work, with an AI app builder or without one.

That makes this kind of software worth paying for, not this one in particular: 34 of the 61 other local SEO tools grade higher. It costs $192 a year.

What you could make

  • Review collection and reports: an app builder makes these well.

What you could not

  • Listings sent to dozens of directories and map apps, which takes an agreement with each.
  • Daily checks of where your pages rank in search results.
  • It plugs into other products, Google Business Profile, Facebook and Instagram among them.
  • AI features, unless you pay a model provider for each request yourself.

What this rests on. Moz Local’s listing: what it does, where it runs, what it plugs into and what it costs. It is a judgement about the kind of software this is. We have not built a replacement for it, and making your own means looking after it too. How we decide, and every tool’s verdict.
