Part 01 · Overview
Welcome
What it is, who it suits, its grades and the ten things to know first
2.4
GPA, above 23 of the 51 other AI agents we grade
Nebula is a chat workspace in which a team and its AI agents work in the same channels. Each channel holds one goal: an orchestrator, also called Nebula, breaks the goal into tasks, can create specialist agents for ongoing roles and reports results back to the channel. Channels carry text, voice and video, and teams can add outside agents such as Claude Code or Codex that run on their own subscriptions. It is sold per seat, with credits for work done by Nebula's own agents.
To get you started, here are 9 things to know about Nebula, taken from its own pages and our grades.
Nebula's own agents need no setup and you talk to them in a channel like anyone else.
- 1
Best for teams working in the same chat as their agents
There's no browser version, the Windows installer isn't code-signed yet, and an App Store subscription covers one seat only.
- 2
Paid plans start at $25 a month for each person
As its pricing page puts it: $25 per seat / month.
- 3
You can try it first
7-day free trial on every seat
- 4
It runs on 5 platforms
macOS, Windows, Linux, iOS and Android.
- 5
Channels
A channel is one room for a goal, holding its people, agents, calls, tasks and apps. Text, voice and video with screen sharing all happen in the same conversation.
- 6
Orchestrator
Every workspace has one orchestrator that works out what a goal needs, proposes specialist agents, hands each its part and answers quick questions in the chat.
- 7
Your agents or Nebula's
Connect Claude, ChatGPT, Codex, Gemini CLI or another agent you run and it bills your own plan. Nebula's built-in agents need no setup and are paid for with credits.
- 8
A 2.4 GPA, above 23 of 51
That is against the other AI agents we grade, on value, the free plan, features, ease of use and platforms.
- 9
Keep it
To replace Nebula you would be making an AI agent, with the models and the safeguards behind it. That is not a weekend's work, with an AI app builder or without one.

The report card
Best for teams working in the same chat as their agents
Nebula is a team chat where AI agents sit in the channels with you: give a channel a goal and an orchestrator splits it into tasks, hands them out and reports back. It's $25 a seat with no free plan, no plan includes credits, so work by Nebula's own agents is paid on top, and the owner pays for a seat too. There's no browser version, the Windows installer isn't code-signed yet, and an App Store subscription covers one seat only.
| Subject | Grade | Comment |
|---|---|---|
| Value for money | C | $25 a seat each month, mid-table for this category, covering unlimited messaging, calls, orchestration and web research plus one cloud computer. No plan includes any credits, though, so every task you hand to Nebula's own agents is a top-up on top of the seat. |
| Free plan and trial | C | No free plan. Every seat gets 7 days to try, and the listing doesn't say whether a card is needed to start. After that everyone pays, the owner included. |
| Features | B | It covers the job, and putting agents in the same room as the people is the unusual part: a channel holds its goal, its members, its calls and its tasks, an orchestrator splits the work and proposes specialists, and tasks run on schedules with monitors watching for changes. Your own Claude Code can do the work. |
| Ease of use | C | Nebula's own agents need no setup and you talk to them in a channel like anyone else. Around that: apps to install on every device, a Windows installer the docs say isn't code-signed yet, credits to top up, and store subscriptions that cover only one seat. No rating on record. |
| Platforms and integrations | B | Mac, Windows, Linux, iPhone and Android, plus a command-line app, with connections to Gmail, Slack, GitHub, Notion, Linear and Stripe and MCP servers you can add. No browser version: the docs point you to the apps. |
An A is worth 4 points, a B 3, a C 2, a D 1 and an F nothing. The GPA is the average of the five.
Who Nebula is for
- Fits if your team wants agents working in the same chat as the people
- Works for teams already paying for Claude Code or Codex who want to share them
Who it is not for
- Skip it if you want a free plan, as every member needs a $25 seat once the 7-day trial ends
- Pricey if you lean on Nebula's own agents, because their work runs on credits you top up
- Not for you if you want it in a browser tab, as the docs point to desktop, phone and command-line apps
- Watch out: an App Store or Google Play subscription covers one seat; adding teammates means paying by card on the web
- Watch out: the docs say the Windows installer isn't code-signed yet
Good to know
Good for
- Teams that want agents working in the same chat as the people
- Developers already paying for Claude Code or Codex who want to share them
- Recurring work run as scheduled tasks and monitors
Worth knowing
- There is no free plan: every member, the owner included, needs a $25 seat once the 7-day trial ends.
- No subscription adds credits each month. Tasks by Nebula's own agents and cloud-device time draw on Nebula Credits you top up.
- A subscription bought through the App Store or Google Play covers one seat; adding teammates means moving billing to a card on the web.
- The docs point users to the desktop, mobile and command-line apps rather than a browser version, and say the Windows installer is not yet code-signed.

- Larger requests become tasks that run in a thread and report back. Tasks can also run on a schedule, and a monitor can be set to watch for a change.
- Devices
- Agents work on a cloud device or on your own computer with computer use turned on. A subscribed workspace starts with one small cloud device of 2 CPUs and 8 GB RAM.
- Connections and apps
- Agents act through your Gmail, Slack, GitHub, Notion, Linear, Stripe and other accounts, and MCP servers can be added. Trackers, dashboards and forms can be built by describing them.

Keep it, or make your own?
Whether this is something you could build for yourself with an AI app builder, and what you would give up.
Keep it
To replace Nebula you would be making an AI agent, with the models and the safeguards behind it. That is not a weekend's work, with an AI app builder or without one.
It costs $300 a year.
What you could not
- An AI agent, with the models and the safeguards behind it.
- Chat that a whole team counts on staying up.
- Video calls.
- Connections to other products, each kept working as those products change.
- A tool that builds and hosts other apps.
- Apps for macOS, Windows, Linux, iOS and Android that stay in step with each other.
- It is priced for each person, which means accounts and billing for a team.
- The depth: we grade its features B, which means it covers the whole job.
What this rests on. Nebula’s listing: what it does, where it runs, what it plugs into and what it costs. It is a judgement about the kind of software this is. We have not built a replacement for it, and making your own means looking after it too. How we decide, and every tool’s verdict.
