Part 01 · Overview
Welcome
What it is, who it suits, its grades and the ten things to know first
2.2
GPA, above 2 of the 19 other social media schedulers we grade
Planable is a content planning and approval tool for social media teams and agencies. Posts are drafted in a feed or calendar that looks like each network, teammates and clients comment and suggest edits on them, and approved posts publish to nine networks. It is priced per workspace with unlimited users, and analytics, a social inbox and listening are sold as add-ons.
To get you started, here are 9 things to know about Planable, taken from its own pages and our grades.
There's no App Store rating on record for us to go by, and you'll set up workspaces, pages and approval steps first.
- 1
Best for getting posts approved by clients
Posts sit in a feed that looks like each network, and teammates and clients comment, suggest edits and approve them.
- 2
Paid plans start at $33 a month
As its pricing page puts it: $33 per workspace / month, billed yearly ($39 billed monthly).
- 3
You can try it first
First 50 posts free, with no time limit and no credit card
- 4
It runs on 3 platforms
Web, iOS and Android.
- 5
Feed, calendar and grid views
Posts can be planned in a feed that previews each network, a calendar or an Instagram-style grid (Pro). Campaigns and labels group related content.
- 6
Comments and approvals
Reviewers annotate text, suggest edits and approve posts. Approvals can be optional on Basic, required on Pro and multi-step on Enterprise.
- 7
Publishing to nine networks
Scheduling covers Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, X, YouTube, TikTok, Pinterest, Google Business Profile and Threads, with first comments and recurring posts.

The report card
Best for getting posts approved by clients
Planable is all about sign-off. Posts sit in a feed that looks like each network, and teammates and clients comment, suggest edits and approve them. Every user is free, but analytics and an inbox are paid add-ons, and five profiles push you to Pro at $49 a month billed yearly.
| Subject | Grade | Comment |
|---|---|---|
| Value for money | C | Basic stops at 4 social pages, so five profiles means Pro: $49 a month per workspace billed yearly, with unlimited users. That's between this category's $29 middle and $58 dearer quarter, and analytics add $12 a month on top. |
| Free plan and trial | C | Your first 50 posts are free, with no time limit and no card. That's a proper look, but it's 50 in total, not each month, and X publishing waits for a paid plan. |
| Features | C | Approvals are the focus: comments, suggested edits, optional or required sign-off, and publishing to nine networks. The gaps its listing names: analytics and the inbox aren't included on Basic or Pro, and published posts are deleted after 13 months. |
| Ease of use | C | There's no App Store rating on record for us to go by, and you'll set up workspaces, pages and approval steps first. So it gets the ordinary grade. |
| Platforms and integrations | B | Web, iPhone and Android, with Canva, Zapier, Slack, a public API on Pro and an MCP connector. No desktop app, which an A needs. |
An A is worth 4 points, a B 3, a C 2, a D 1 and an F nothing. The GPA is the average of the five.
Who Planable is for
- Great if clients or legal have to approve every post
- Good for agencies that want reviewers to log in without seat fees
- Handy when you plan newsletters and blog posts alongside social
Who it is not for
- Tight if you have more than 4 profiles, which pushes you from Basic to Pro
- Not for you if you want analytics included, as they're $12 a workspace extra
- Skip it if you want an archive, since published posts are deleted after 13 months
Good to know
Good for
- Agencies that need clients to review and approve posts before they go out
- Brand teams with legal or multi-step sign-off
- Teams that want every reviewer to log in without seat fees
Worth knowing
- The free start is 50 posts in total, not a monthly allowance, and X publishing is not available until a paid plan.
- Basic caps each workspace at 4 social pages and 60 posts a month, and publishes one X post every 24 hours.
- Analytics and the social inbox are not included on Basic or Pro; they cost $14 and $9 a workspace a month extra, billed monthly.
- Published posts are kept for 13 months on Basic and Pro, then deleted.

Keep it, or make your own?
Whether this is something you could build for yourself with an AI app builder, and what you would give up.
Keep it
The plain part of Planable you could make: calendar. What surrounds it you could not. The 4 things listed below take a company, not a weekend.
That makes this kind of software worth paying for, not this one in particular: 10 of the 19 other social media schedulers grade higher. It costs $396 a year.
What you could make
- Calendar: an app builder makes this well.
What you could not
- A real app for iOS and Android. Something home-made would be a web page.
- Several people working in it at the same moment.
- It plugs into other products, Canva, Zapier and Slack among them, and has an API.
- AI features, unless you pay a model provider for each request yourself.
What this rests on. Planable’s listing: what it does, where it runs, what it plugs into and what it costs. It is a judgement about the kind of software this is. We have not built a replacement for it, and making your own means looking after it too. How we decide, and every tool’s verdict.
