2.2GPA

Best for agencies hosting many WordPress sites

Pressable is Automattic's managed WordPress host, so it comes from the company behind WordPress.com and WooCommerce. Each site gets a staging and a sandbox copy, hourly database backups and a Jetpack Security license, and it's among the cheaper managed hosts here. It's WordPress only, email costs extra and there's no free trial.

Who Pressable is for

  • Great if you host lots of client WordPress sites under one account
  • Handy when your shop runs on WooCommerce and you'd like its maker's host
  • Good for developers who manage hosting through an API or an AI tool

Who Pressable is not for

  • Not for you if you want email included, as it's a paid add-on
  • Skip it if you want to try before you pay, as there's no free trial
  • Pricey if traffic climbs, at $1.20 per 1,000 visits over the plan

Why Pressable gets a 2.2

Five grades, each with its reason. The GPA is their average: an A is 4 points, an F is none.

  • BValue for moneyGraded against the other managed WordPress hosts. Signature 1 is $250 a year for one site, so two years cost $500, about $20.83 a month, the second cheapest of that group. Monthly is $25, and visits over 30,000 are $1.20 per 1,000.
  • FFree plan and trialNo free plan and no free trial, and the listing says so plainly. New plans get a 30-day money-back guarantee, which isn't a trial.
  • BFeaturesA staging and a sandbox site per install, hourly database and daily site backups, Jetpack Security, 5 PHP workers per site, edge caching and a CDN, and a plugin update scheduler. Email is extra, but the managed WordPress job is covered.
  • CEase of useNo app store rating to go on. Staging and sandboxes make changes safer, but it's still WordPress hosting with plans and limits to learn.
  • BPlatforms and integrationsA web dashboard with no app on record, plus a documented API and the Pressable MCP server on every plan, with Jetpack and WP-CLI.

Keep Pressable, or make your own?

Keep it

To replace Pressable you would be making servers kept running, patched and backed up for you. That is not a weekend's work, with an AI app builder or without one.

It is one of the better ones too: its GPA of 2.2 is higher than 15 of the 21 other web hosts we grade. It costs $249.96 a year.

What you could not

  • Servers kept running, patched and backed up for you.
  • An engine that recognises new malware as it appears.
  • It plugs into other products, WordPress, WooCommerce and Jetpack among them, and has an API.
  • AI features, unless you pay a model provider for each request yourself.
  • What a company asks for before it lets staff use something: roles and permissions.
  • Sharing with other people, which means accounts and invitations.
  • The depth: we grade its features B, which means it covers the whole job.

What this rests on. Pressable’s listing: what it does, where it runs, what it plugs into and what it costs. It is a judgement about the kind of software this is. We have not built a replacement for it, and making your own means looking after it too. How we decide, and every tool’s verdict.
