Part 01 · Overview
Welcome
What it is, who it suits, its grades and the ten things to know first
2.6
GPA, above 30 of the 74 other calendar and scheduling apps we grade
Rallly is a meeting poll tool for scheduling groups. An organizer proposes a few times and shares a link, participants vote yes, if need be or no without signing up, and the organizer finalizes the time that works best. The hosted service is free for unlimited polls and participants, with a paid Pro plan for branding, teams and the API, and the open-source code can also be self-hosted with Docker.
To get you started, here are 9 things to know about Rallly, taken from its own pages and our grades.
The free plan has no cap on polls or voters.
- 1
Best for picking a meeting time by group vote
Rallly runs group polls: you propose a few times, share one link and collect yes, if need be or no votes, with nobody signing up.
- 2
Paid plans start at $6 a month for each person
As its pricing page puts it: $6 per seat / month, billed yearly ($10 billed monthly).
- 3
There is a free plan
Hobby plan: unlimited polls and participants with no card and no time limit. Polls are deleted once all their dates have passed and there has been no activity for 30 days.
- 4
It runs on Web

- 5
Scheduling polls
Propose several times, share one link, and collect a yes, if need be or no vote for each option. Results show at a glance which time suits the most people.
- 6
No account needed
Polls can be created and voted on without signing up. A free account adds poll management from any device and notifications when people respond.
- 7
Time zones and finalizing
Participants see timed options in their own time zone. Finalizing a poll locks in the chosen time and emails participants a calendar invite.
- 8

The report card
Best for picking a meeting time by group vote
Rallly runs group polls: you propose a few times, share one link and collect yes, if need be or no votes, with nobody signing up. The free plan has no cap on polls or voters. But it only does polls, with no booking pages and no phone or desktop app, free polls are deleted 30 quiet days after their dates pass, and branding, email invites and the API need Pro at $6 a seat.
| Subject | Grade | Comment |
|---|---|---|
| Value for money | C | Pro is $6 a seat a month billed yearly, or $10 paid monthly, which is dead on this category's middle. It buys polls kept for good, branding, team spaces, an API and webhooks, and most people won't need any of it. |
| Free plan and trial | A | The Hobby plan has unlimited polls and unlimited participants, with no card and no time limit, so nothing a normal organiser does runs out. Old polls are deleted once their dates have passed and they've been quiet for 30 days. |
| Features | C | One job, agreeing a time, and that it does fully: three-way votes, times shown in each voter's own zone, a calendar invite emailed when you finalise, hidden votes and invite tracking on Pro. But it's a small slice of calendaring, and its site describes no booking pages at all. |
| Ease of use | B | No rating on record, but there's nothing to set up: create a poll and vote on one without signing up for anything. Self-hosting means Docker, and that's entirely optional. |
| Platforms and integrations | C | Web only, with no phone or desktop app. The connections are thin too: Google Meet or Teams links, and the API and webhooks are Pro. You can run it on your own server with Docker Compose. |
An A is worth 4 points, a B 3, a C 2, a D 1 and an F nothing. The GPA is the average of the five.
Who Rallly is for
- Fits if your committee, club or team settles on a meeting time by vote
- Works for groups where the people voting shouldn't need an account to do it
Who it is not for
- Skip it if you want a booking page where clients pick a slot, as Rallly only does group polls
- Tight if you're staying free and need old polls kept, since they're deleted after 30 quiet days
- Not for you if you want a phone or desktop app, because Rallly is web only
- Pricey if you self-host for a team, because more than one user needs a license from $49
- Watch out: branding, email invites, team spaces, the API and webhooks are all Pro, at $6 a seat yearly or $10 monthly
Good to know
Good for
- Committees, clubs and teams picking a meeting time by vote
- Organizers whose participants should not need an account
- Organizations that want to self-host their scheduling polls
Worth knowing
- On the free Hobby plan, a poll is deleted once all its dates have passed and it has had no activity for 30 days.
- Custom branding, removing Rallly attribution, advanced poll settings, email invites, team spaces and the API all need Pro.
- Self-hosting is free for a single user; multi-user instances need a one-time license, from $49 for up to 5 users.
- Rallly is built around group polls. Its site describes no booking pages and no mobile or desktop apps.

Keep it, or make your own?
Whether this is something you could build for yourself with an AI app builder, and what you would give up.
Your call
A calendar at its plainest is events on a grid.
Rallly sits between: not beyond making, and not a weekend's work either. What you would give up is listed below. Whether that is worth the price is your call. It costs $72 a year. Rallly is open source, so there is a third way: take its code and run it yourself.
What you could make
- It runs in a browser, which is where something home-made would run too.
What you could not
- It is priced for each person, which means accounts and billing for a team.
- It plugs into other products, Google Meet and Microsoft Teams among them, and has an API.
What this rests on. Rallly’s listing: what it does, where it runs, what it plugs into and what it costs. It is a judgement about the kind of software this is. We have not built a replacement for it, and making your own means looking after it too. How we decide, and every tool’s verdict.
